    New Hallmark movie

In Branching Out, Sarah Drew plays Amelia, a single mother to 10-year-old Ruby (played by Cora Bella). When Ruby is given a school assignment to create a family tree, Amelia realizes how little she knows about her dad.

Amelia administers a DNA test and discovers that Ruby’s father, a man named TJ (played by Juan Pablo Di Pace), lives in their neighborhood. TJ, an aspiring musician, says he would love to meet Ruby and introduce her to his family. Suddenly, Amelia and Ruby, who have been on their own for so long, are surrounded by family.

“Romance takes flight as Amelia gets to know TJ and is invited to take part in his family’s Mexican traditions,” reads a synopsis from Hallmark. “Along the way, Amelia’s protective instincts — both for herself and her daughter —are challenged, especially when TJ gets the chance of a lifetime that might take him away. With the help of an adorable little girl who has a big heart and a thousand questions, Amelia and TJ discover that family trees can be complicated and wonderfully unique, especially when love is what ties everyone together.”
