Can't Wait for Season 9 of When Calls the Heart? There's an app for that
Season 9 may still be months away, but Hearties now have a place to go to enjoy all things When Calls the Heart.
Edify Films has designed a free app featuring photos, interviews, recipes, merchandise, and even printable coloring pages.
Among the videos is an interview with director Michael Landon Jr. about his role in the series.
“Ninety percent of what I do is casting roles properly,” he said. “And I feel like I’ve done it really well. When we’re actually on set, there’s not as much effort in my role as a director because I’ve done my job up front.”
Also included is an interview with author Janette Oke, who wrote the books the series is based on. She talked about visiting the set for the first time and feeling like she had been transported back in time.
The stars of the show also give interviews in which they share little bits of information about themselves.
In a segment titled “Embarrassing Moments,” Aren Buchholz reveals that he didn’t know that a pickle was a cucumber until he was in 11th grade.
Erin Krakow talked about a frightening moment from her childhood, when she got so scared climbing the ladder for the high dive that she froze.
“And there was a whole line of people waiting in line for the high dive behind me,” she said. “My dad saw me frozen there like a statue and he came over and rescued me from the big bad scary high dive.”
Kavan Smith, who plays Leland Coulter on the show, said he has had a number of near-death experiences, including one in which he ended up hanging off the side of a cliff after he dropped his motorcycle to avoid hitting a cow that wandered onto the highway.
Also included are devotional texts for family study, with a synopsis of a particular episode and questions and scripture reflecting the lesson it is teaching.
