  • NFL super star Travis Kelce is a fan of Hallmark movies

NFL super star Travis Kelce is a fan of Hallmark movies

Kansas City Chiefs player (and current beau of Taylor Swift) Travis Kelce is a fan of Hallmark movies. During a recent episode of his podcast, New Heights, the NFL tight end told comedian Andrew Santino that he enjoys the Kansas City-based company’s films.

“Are you a Hallmark guy, Trav?” Santino asked.

“I dabble now. Yeah,” Kelce said.

    Filmmaker

Kelce’s admission that he enjoys a good Hallmark romance movie like the rest of us comes as the football player begins to explore acting and filmmaking.

He recently served as executive producer on the film My Dead Friend Zoe by Kyle Hausmann-Stokes, which debuted in March at the 2024 South by Southwest festival. He is also working on a documentary about artist Jean-Michel Basquiat. Titled King Pleasure, the film will make use of “never-before-seen home movies, notebooks, photographs, animation and interviews,” according to Deadline.

Kelce is also interested in appearing before the camera. In an interview with People magazine, he said he enjoyed his experience hosting Saturday Night Live.

“I just can’t thank them enough for giving me that opportunity, because I didn’t know I was going to enjoy scripted comedy, or that entire entertainment world as much as I did, until I was on a set and going through the week of preparation and stuff like that,” Kelce said.

He’s also one of the hosts of the new game show Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity?, a spinoff of Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?

    Hallmark movies

Though Kelce did not mention specific Hallmark movies, he did say he is a “huge fan” of the company, mentioning that it has its headquarters in Kansas City. When Santino asked if he was sure, Kelce replied, “I mean, I’ve been there for…eleven years. I see it all the time.”

Shortly before the 2024 Super Bowl, the Kansas City Chiefs released a spoof trailer for a Hallmark-style movie to promote the team. In the short clip, Jannel Parrish played a woman whose football-obsessed fiancé left her at the altar. Tyler Hynes played a Kansas City Chiefs super-fan who tries to keep his love of the team under wraps while he pursues a romance with her.

The trailer also starred Donna Kelce — mother to Travis and Jason Kelce — as a kindhearted stranger who gives Parrish some friendly advice. The clip went viral on YouTube.

    Hallmark fans

Kelce is not the only celebrity to admit to loving Hallmark movies. In 2021, musician Rob Thomas described himself as a “Hallmark movie geek.”

He said he watched the Hallmark Christmas movies non-stop while working on his album There’s Something About Christmas Time. His favorite is the 2008 rom-com The Most Wonderful Time of the Year, which starred Henry Winkler, Brooke Burns, and Warren Christie.

“Romance takes flight as Amelia gets to know TJ and is invited to take part in his family’s Mexican traditions,” reads a synopsis from Hallmark. “Along the way, Amelia’s protective instincts — both for herself and her daughter —are challenged, especially when TJ gets the chance of a lifetime that might take him away. With the help of an adorable little girl who has a big heart and a thousand questions, Amelia and TJ discover that family trees can be complicated and wonderfully unique, especially when love is what ties everyone together.”

  • Three Wise Men and a Baby sequel coming to Hallmark Channel

Three Wise Men and a Baby sequel coming to Hallmark Channel

A Three Wise Men and a Baby sequel is coming to Hallmark Channel. Paul Campbell and Tyler Hynes shared the news on Instagram, telling fans they could expect the new movie during Hallmark Channel’s 2024 Countdown to Christmas lineup.

“You asked…so we’re back. Welcome home,” Hynes wrote in a post. “3 Wiser Men And A Boy. Coming this holiday season.”

Three Wise Men and a Baby sequel

Fans have been clamoring for a Three Wise Men and a Baby sequel since the original movie aired during Hallmark Channel’s 2022 Countdown to Christmas lineup.

In the movie, Campbell, Hynes, and Walker play three brothers who are so busy arguing with each other that they can’t even give their mother (played by Margaret Colin) the peaceful family Christmas she longs for. When Walker’s character finds an abandoned baby named Thomas at the fire station where he works, he brings the child home to his mother. While they try to track down the baby’s parents, the brothers are forced to work together and even end up participating in some Christmas traditions they avoided in the past. (Cue the hilarious scenes where the three guys dress up as elves.)

The movie, which was co-written by Paul Campbell and Hallmark star Kimberley Sustad, became an instant hit. It was the most-watched cable movie of 2022 and fans started asking right away if they would get a sequel.

    “The chances are zero”

In a 2023 interview with TV Insider, Paul Campbell told fans that there wouldn’t be a Three Wise Men and a Baby sequel.

Campbell said he asked network executives about doing another movie with the same characters.

He was told that Hallmark doesn’t do sequels.

“Hallmark has said many, many times over the years, they don’t do sequels,” Campbell said. “The problem is it’s really hard to tell a love story twice. And that movie is still a love story. It’s a story about brothers rediscovering their love for each other. We talked with the network early on about a potential sequel and they just said, ‘We love the movie. We’d love to sort of work with you guys again in another capacity, but it’s just not going to be in powers on this one.’ So, unfortunately, unless we get a miracle, I would say the chances are zero.”

Fans quickly pointed out that there had been several Hallmark Christmas movie sequels, including The Christmas House 2: Deck Those Halls. The film, which starred Treat Williams, Robert Buckley, and Jonathan Bennett, was a sequel to the original Countdown to Christmas movie. In 2023, Lacey Chabert and Wes Brown starred in Haul Out the Holly: Lit Up, a sequel to 2022’s Haul Out the Holly.

    2024 Hallmark Christmas movies

In the Instagram post announcing the sequel, Tyler Hynes mentioned that fans were always asking if they would ever see a follow-up to Three Wise Men and a Baby.

“You would ask…and we would just smile 🙂 happy we’re here now  Christmas came early,” he wrote.

In a short video, Paul Campbell, Andrew Walker, and Tyler Hynes are seen knocking on the door of a trailer. The door opens and the boy playing Thomas opens the door.

Hallmark Channel has not yet announced a premiere date for Three Wiser Men and a Boy. We will update this story as soon as one becomes available.

  • Why did Fiona leave When Calls the Heart?

Why did Fiona leave When Calls the Heart?

Why did Fiona leave When Calls the Heart? That’s the question Hearties have been asking since the start of Season 11.

“What happened to Kayla Wallace?” one fan wrote on the show’s Facebook page. “Are we going to see her at all this season?”

Why did Fiona leave When Calls the Heart?

Kayla Wallace joined the cast of Hallmark Channel’s longest-running original series in Season 6 as Fiona Miller, an independent young woman who was brought to Hope Valley to help set up the town’s first switchboard. She ended up opening a salon and making friends with the locals.

She immediately won the hearts of some fans, who liked her spirit.

In real life, the actress began dating her co-star Kevin McGarry, who plays Nathan Grant on the series. In 2022, they were cast opposite each other in the Hallmark romance movie Feeling Butterflies. The movie was so popular Hallmark featured the couple again in the 2022 Christmas in July movie My Grown-Up Christmas List.

They announced their engagement in an Instagram post in December 2024.

    When Calls the Heart

Hearties did not find out that Fiona would be missing from Season 11 until the first episode aired on April 7. At one point, Minnie (Natasha Burnett) received a telegram from Fiona, who was visiting her sister. She told Minnie that she was enjoying her work with the Suffrage movement and wouldn’t be returning to Hope Valley for a while.

Why the change in storyline? It turned out that Kayla Wallace had booked a role in another series and was unable to film When Calls the Heart.

In January 2024, Wallace announced that she had been cast in Landmark, a new Paramount+ series. The show is being written by Taylor Sheridan. the man who created the popular series Yellowstone.

“THRILLED,” Wallace wrote in an Instagram post. “So grateful. Let’s GO!”

The series is set in West Texas and follows the fortunes of families caught up in the oil boom. Wallace will play Rebecca Savage, an intimidating liability attorney.

    Will Kayla Wallace return?

In an interview with TV Insider, When Calls the Heart star Erin Krakow lamented the loss of Fiona in Hope Valley.

“Not to make it about Elizabeth, but look, she goes to the barbershop and Robert’s there,” she said. “She’s not going to have Robert cut her hair. Yeah, it’s a very close community. I think people are really heartbroken over the fact that Fiona’s not around. And truthfully, we don’t have enough time in the episode to really dig into that. And so hopefully it doesn’t feel like people are in any way cavalier about her departure.”

Krakow, who is also an executive producer on the series, said she hopes to have Wallace back.

“We are hoping that we’ll be able to have Fiona back for some episodes,” she adds. “Who knows? But yeah, we truly, truly over the moon thrilled for Kayla.”

Wallace’s new series, Landman, is scheduled to premiere sometime in 2025.

  • Carlos and Alexa PenaVega to headline movie for Great American Pure Flix

Carlos and Alexa PenaVega to headline movie for Great American Pure Flix

Alexa and Carlos PenaVega will headline a movie for Great American Pure Flix. The couple, who have starred in several romantic comedies for Hallmark, will appear in Mr. Manhattan, which premieres in May.

“We are so excited for this one and all that we have coming up with you guys!” wrote Carlos PenaVega in response to an Instagram post announcing the movie. “What a team!”

The announcement came as a surprise to some fans, who are used to seeing Alexa and Carlos PenaVega in Hallmark movies. In 2022, the pair signed a multi-picture deal with Hallmark Media, calling the company a “second home.”

“Over the last four years they have given us opportunities to grow as actors and producers all while raising our children, even if it means having the family on set!” they said in a joint statement to Deadline.

The couple, who met at a Bible study group, married in 2014. They have four children together: Ocean, Kingston, Rio, and Indy.

Alexa and Carlos PenaVega Hallmark movies

Alexa starred in the Hallmark movies Destination Wedding, Christmas Made to Order, and Taking a Shot at Love. Carlos headlined A Midnight Kiss. The two co-starred in Enchanted Christmas (2017), Love at Sea (2018), and Love in the Limelight (2022). They also appeared together in Hallmark’s Picture Perfect Mysteries, which the network recently canceled.

In a joint statement, the couple said they have enjoyed their work with Hallmark.

“Developing projects alongside them has been a highlight of our careers thus far. We are thrilled to be able to continue creating content that is family-friendly and current while maintaining its core values that we love so much. Hallmark is special and we are looking forward to many more projects together.”

Fans assumed that the deal was exclusive, but the couple’s new movie with Great American Pure Flix suggests otherwise.

Movie for Great American Pure Flix

In Mr. Manhattan, Carlos PenaVega stars as Mason Bradley, a man with a beautiful fiancé (played by Alexa PenaVega) who agrees to be godfather to his brother’s children. Soon after, he heads to New York to begin studying law at Columbia. Surrounded by the glamour of big city life, he eventually becomes a partner in a big firm and breaks things off with his fiance.

But everything changes when his brother and sister-in-law are killed and he finds himself with custody of their two young children.

“It’s a good one! You’re gonna enjoy it!!!” wrote Candace Cameron Bure in response to an Instagram post announcing the film.

    Carlos and Alexa PenaVega fans

Carlos and Alexa PenaVega fans were, for the most part, enthusiastic about the announcement.

“Love these two,” wrote on fan on Great American Pure Flix’s Facebook page. “Excited to see them here.”

Others were curious to know if Carlos and Alexa PenaVega would still make movies for Hallmark.

“WOW!!!! HOPEFULLY THIS MEANS THEY CAN WORK FOR BOTH HALLMARK AND GREAT AMERICAN FAMILY,” wrote another.

Both Alexa and Carlos got their start in show business as children. Alexa made her debut as Carmen Cortez in the Spy Kid movie franchise in 2001. She went on to guest star on TV shows such as Unsupervised and Royal Pains and appeared in the movies Hairspray, Broken Hill, and The Devil’s Carnival.

They have published two books with HarperCollins Christian Publishing. What If Love is the Point: Living For Jesus in a Self-Consumed World was released in June 2022. Ocean’s World: An Island Tale of Discovery and Adventure was released in October 2022.

Mr. Manhattan will be available to stream on Great American Pure Flix on May 24.

  • Hallmark star Nik Sanchez makes directing debut in new movie for Easterseals Disability Film Challenge

Hallmark star Nik Sanchez makes directing debut in new movie for Easterseals Disability Film Challenge

Hallmark star Nik Sanchez is making his debut as a writer and director in this year’s Easterseals Disability Film Challenge. The 19-year-old college student, who calls himself “awesomely autistic,” also starred in the short comedy, titled Over.

“I’ve always had a passion to tell stories and write out my feelings,” Sanchez said in an exclusive interview with TV Cheddar. “I felt like it was a perfect
time to express my emotions through a story and filming a short film helps me do that perfectly.”

Click here to watch the film.

    Easterseals Disability Film Challenge

The Easterseals Disability Film Challenge was founded in 2013 by actor, comedian, producer, and disability advocate Nic Novicki.

“I created the Easterseals Disability Film Challenge to help accelerate change within Hollywood and to provide filmmakers and actors with tangible work experience and with an opportunity to tell authentic stories,” he said. “We are proud of the amazing films produced over the past 10 years — viewed around the world — and the successes our participants have gone on to achieve.”

Since the Film Challenge was launched in 2013, aspiring filmmakers have created and submitted more than 600 short films.

Last year, Sanchez appeared in the Easterseals Disability Film Challenge in the short movie Safe Place.

He said his experience in the movie inspired him to try writing and directing for himself.

“I was so amazed by how much effort was put into the film by such a small group,” he said. “And the film was really good. I thought that if I can act and understand how making a film works, I could write my own film too.”

    Awesomely autistic

Sanchez was diagnosed at a young age with autism and ADHD. His mother enrolled him in acting classes at the age of five because he enjoyed role-playing.

“The instructor told me I wouldn’t do well because I had the attention span of a gnat,” Sanchez said.

But Sanchez proved his teacher wrong. In high school, he signed with an agent and soon after booked his first role as a recurring character on the ABC series The Rookie.

The experience taught him a lot.

“..I didn’t realize we’d have to do the scenes over and over and over again, because of the angles and the camera changes,” he said. “I gained a much higher respect for the actors.”

    Hallmark star

Sanchez made his Hallmark debut in the 2021 movie Our Christmas Journey with Holly Robinson Peete. He played 18-year-old Marcus, a young man on the autism spectrum who lives with his mother (played by Holly Robinson Peete) but wants to move into an independent living facility.

Robinson Peete and her husband, former NFL player Rodney Peete, have been vocal advocates for members of the autism community since their son, RJ, was diagnosed with the condition as a young child. In 1993 they founded the HolyRod Foundation, a non-profit dedicated to raising awareness and providing resources to families that have a loved one who has received an autism or Parkinson’s disease diagnosis.

Sanchez described working with Robinson Peete as “amazing.”

“Working with her was probably the closest I’ll ever get to making a movie with my own mom,” he said. “She just knew things. Being around her felt very natural from day one.”

He said he liked the script for Our Christmas Journey because it was an accurate portrayal of life with autism.

“In real autistic families, everybody is affected,” he said. “Everybody plays a role and this movie really portrays that.”

    Interview

Nik Sanchez recently answered some questions for TV Cheddar about his new project, his college career, and his love of filmmaking.

TVC: You recently changed college majors. What inspired the change?

NS: I changed my major from Game Art Design to TV and Film Production mainly because I wanted to learn even more about the film industry, sooner rather than later. I still want to create video games but I want to create games that become movies or movies that become games. …Ever since I started acting, I was so fascinated by everything about it. There are so many different roles and experiences that you could have while being in the industry. I have met so many great people, learned so many new things. I strive to be a great actor, and a great filmmaker. The best video games have an awesome main character and an amazing story line — just like TV and movies. I can’t wait to create new stories, characters and adventures for the
    gaming and film industries.

TVC: Why did you decide to enter your own film in the Easterseals Disability Film Challenge?

NS: I’ve always had a passion to tell stories and write out my feelings. I felt like it was a perfect time to express my emotions through a story and filming a short film helps me do that perfectly. Last year, I just acted in a short film by Jennifer Msumba and Scott Klumb. I was so amazed by how much effort was put into the film by such a small group. And the film was really good. I thought that if I can act and understand how making a film works, I could write my own film too. So I did!

TVC: How did you decide what to write about? How long did it take you to complete the script?

NS: I went mostly off one of the theme options of the challenge (Dynamic Duo) and wrote about one of my favorite dynamics in the whole world: How opposites attract. The yin yang is a symbol I love. To me, it symbolizes that both darkness and light create harmony within a human. I love finding relationships with people that seem like they don’t work or don’t make
sense but when you find someone that’s completely opposite of you, you guys balance each other out and create a force or bond that is nearly unbreakable. It took me about two days to finish writing the full script. Originally, it was 15 pages. …Eventually, with the help of my good friend and co-star, Havon Baraka, we got it down to like eight pages. So all in all like a week and a half to finish the script.

TVC: How long did it take to make the movie? Were there any unexpected challenges you faced in the getting the film made?

NS: We used two days to film/shoot the movie. And gave the editor, Diego Hinojosa, three days to edit, then I wanted to upload one day before the deadline in case we ran into any technical difficulties. Trying to squeeze all the scenes into two days was a little tough. However, that was not the biggest challenge. The biggest challenge was really just finishing the script in the first place.

Like I mentioned before, my script was waaayyy too long. I was really proud of the script and it was hard to figure out which things I felt good with removing. I hope I made the right choices.

TVC: What do you hope viewers get from the film?

NS: I hope viewers understand that the concept of an odd friend dynamic is not just for entertainment purposes. Regardless of disability, differences, and faults, as long as both are putting in effort to understand one another and be there for one another, they can do anything. Me and my friend Havon, who acted in the film, are great friends but we see the world through two different lens. I see the world more optimistically but sometimes naive, and he sees the
world with a more pessimistic but logical view. But together, we are smarter and stronger. This is where I got the idea in the first place as well. Because of our dynamic.

TVC: Are you working on any other projects? Do you have ideas for your next film?

NS: I have another big film that’s coming out in 2025. I’m not allowed to talk about it yet, but I am SO excited that I got to be a part of it. I can’t wait to see how it turns out. And I’m working on a few other school projects that I’m excited to get started on.

TVC: What advice would you give to aspiring filmmakers?

NS: I would say, if you have an idea, go for it. Even if it’s the craziest idea. Write a story. Create a world that is led by your imagination. As a kid, I had countless ideas that I wish I could have turned into a reality. In the film industry, with the right tools, the right people and with a lot of patience, you can turn any idea into reality. So if you have an idea, don’t give it up. Write it down, write a script, or make a small film. Draw out ideas so you’ll never lose them. That’s my advice. Don’t let ideas fade away so quickly.

“It’s really happening,” Kristin Booth says. “We are on set right now.”

“Shooting two all-new Signed, Sealed, Delivered movies,” Eric Mabius adds.

“We’re back on the case,” says Crystal Lowe.

“And we can’t wait for you to see what we have in store,” says Geoff Gustafson.

    Signed, Sealed, Delivered movies

Hallmark was eager to announce that work had begun on two new Signed, Sealed, Delivered movies. Fans have been waiting since 2021 for a new installment in the series, which was created by Touched By An Angel’s Martha Williamson.

“Martha Williamson has created an incredible world with a cast of characters that fans have fallen in love with,” said Samantha DiPippo, senior vice president of development at Hallmark Media. “Their passion for the show is unwavering and we’re thrilled to be able to give them two new movies that are filled with heart, hope and faith.”

The franchise, which began in 2013 as a television series, follows the employees of the United States Postal Service’s Dead Letter Office.

Oliver (played by Eric Mabius), Shane (played by Kristin Booth), Rita (played by Crystal Lowe), and Norman (played by Geoff Gustafson) take it upon themselves to track down intended recipients of undeliverable mail.

After a successful first season, the show was changed from a 1-hour episode format to a 2-hour film format. Twelve films were released over the next seven years:

Signed, Sealed, Delivered For Christmas (2014)

Signed, Sealed, Delivered: The Vows We Have Made (2021)

    New movies

But fans were left hanging when Hallmark took a break from making new movies in the series. POstables mounted social media campaigns and sent letters and emails to Hallmark Media to get the series continued.

During a red carpet interview at a 2023 ceremony for the Broadcasting and Cable Hall of Fame, then-Hallmark CEO Wonya Lucas told The Sun that the network was working on a comeback for Signed, Sealed, Delivered.

“We’re pretty excited about that,” she said and added, “I will tell you, the POstables are alive and well. They send me notes, they send me pictures, every time I go to my office, they’re there….So, we are really listening to our fans and leaning into the fandom.”

Signed, Sealed, Delivered: A Tale of Three Letters

The first of the two new films is titled Signed, Sealed, Delivered: A Tale of Three Letters (which is a working title and could change) will premiere sometime in 2024. According to a synopsis from Hallmark, “Oliver (Mabius), Shane (Booth), Rita (Lowe) and Norman (Gustafson) work on identifying the intended recipients of a trio of dead letters which have a surprising, personal impact on all of them.  Meanwhile, after the honeymoon phase Oliver and Shane grapple with finding their footing as a married couple.”

Signed, Sealed, Delivered: To the Moon and Back

The second, Signed, Sealed, Delivered: To the Moon and Back, will premiere in 2025. According to Hallmark, “As The POstables all face exciting life changes, their latest investigation takes them on a road trip to not only find the recipient of a lost letter, but to track down a rock star who holds the keys.”

The actors, who play Joseph and Minnie Canfield on When Calls the Heart, play strangers searching for an enchanted antique in the Legend of the Lost Locket, which will premiere as part of Hallmark Channel’s Spring Into Love lineup.

“This is your official reminder to join Amelia on her search for the true love locket… and true love along the way!” wrote Natasha Burnett in an Instagram post to promote the movie.

    “SO pretty!” wrote Erin Krakow.

    Hallmark romance movie

But when he begins to understand what acquiring the iconic locket could mean for the community, he joins Amelia in the race to find the antique before any of her competitors can decipher the clues and beat them to the treasure.

“As their pursuit of the locket intensifies, so do their feelings for each other,” reads a synopsis from Hallmark. “From the Boston art world to participation in the town’s annual Founder’s Day costume ball, their search for the fabled locket inspires Amelia and Marcus to follow their hearts to the ultimate treasure – true love.”

  • Hope Valley will soon see another wedding

Hope Valley will soon see another wedding

Another wedding is coming to Hope Valley. Writers for the hit Hallmark series When Calls the Heart said someone will be getting married in Season 11. However, they are keeping their lips sealed about which couple on the show will tie the knot.

“There’s going to be a wedding in Season 11,” said Brian Bird, co-creator of the series, in an interview on the Heart to Hearties podcast. “I’m not going to say what it is or who’s getting married, but there’s going to be another wedding in Hope Valley. How about that? I’m looking forward to that.”

    Another wedding

Hearties spent most of last season waiting for Elizabeth (Erin Krakow) and Lucas (Chris McNally) to tie the knot. The couple, who became engaged in the Season 9 finale, were planning their wedding throughout Season 10.

But the two drifted apart when Lucas began his run for governor. Shortly before the end of the season, Elizabeth broke things off. Some fans were furious with the turn of events, saying Elizabeth had become a character they didn’t recognize anymore.

Others were thrilled, saying that Elizabeth was a better match for Nathan Grant (Kevin McGarry).

    Nathan and Elizabeth?

Hallmark has been teasing a romance between Nathan and Elizabeth in recent months. When the network released the Season 11 poster, it featured an image of Nathan and Elizabeth looking at each other longingly.

In a trailer for the new season, Nathan is caught speechless when he sees Elizabeth sporting a new haircut.

McGarry said he thinks Nathan was made for Elizabeth.

“I have always liked Nathan and Elizabeth as a couple,” he told Entertainment Tonight.

    Mike and Mei?

But Nathan and Elizabeth aren’t the only two Hope Valley residents making eyes at each other. Mike (Ben Rosenbaum) and Mei (Amanda Wong) have also been spending time together and a clip for Season 11 shows them growing even closer.

In a trailer released by Hallmark, Mike presents Mei with a new bicycle.

“I thought you could use it to get your mud from the hot springs,” he tells her.

“Mike, I love it!” she says.

“It’s the perfect bike for the perfect person,” he says.

    Aaaaaawwwwww.

    Maybe Lucas?

Though Elizabeth and Lucas are no longer engaged, he will continue to be part of the series, according to the writers.

“Lucas is one of our leads and he always will be and he’s an incredible actor,” showrunner Lindsay Sturman said. “His journey is incredibly exciting in season 11. And I think that…we get to see a side of him that we didn’t know…We went back and kind of mined what did we know about him, and then…carry those stories through because…there’s so much richness to the stories that we inherited. And then just growing them from there.”

He may have had his heart broken but surely a man like that doesn’t stay single for long.

What do you think, Hearties? Let us know in the comments section who you think will be getting married.

A book club leads to true love in new Hallmark movie

Erin Krakow and Robert Buckley find true love through a book club in the new Hallmark movie Blind Date Book Club.

Krakow plays a bookstore owner and Buckley an author in the romantic comedy, which will air as part of Hallmark’s Spring Into Love lineup.

“Your heart can be a real page-turner,” reads the movie’s tagline.

In an Instagram post to promote the film, Krakow shared a behind-the-scenes photo of herself, Buckley, and Robert Benson.

“How excited are you to see #BlindDateBookClub?” she wrote in the caption. “A) @peterbenson889 with a soft smile B) @robertearlbuckley with a joyful smile or C) @erinkrakow with a smile like she’s about to eat more onion rings.”

    New Hallmark movie

In the new Hallmark movie Blind Date Book Club, Krakow plays Meg Tompkins, a woman who inherited her mother’s book store. She introduces a “Blind Date Book Club,” in which readers choose a mystery book and then come together to discuss it. When local author Graham Sterling sees her interview with a local TV station, he decides he wants her readers to review his new manuscript.

Though Meg is skeptical, she agrees. As the two spend time together, they develop feelings for each other.

    About the cast

Erin Krakow studied acting at the prestigious Julliard School in New York City. She played Army Specialist Tanya Gabriel in the television series Army Wives before being cast on the hit Hallmark series When Calls the Heart in 2014.

She has appeared in the movies A Cooke Cutter Christmas (2014), Finding Father Christmas (2016), Engaging Father Christmas (2017), Marrying Father Christmas (2018), A Summer Romance (2019), Sense, Sensibility & Snowmen (2019), It Was Always You (2021), and The Wedding Cottage (2023).

    Robert Buckley

A native of California, Robert Buckley earned a degree in economics from the University of California, San Diego. After graduating in 2003, he began working as a financial consultant before deciding he wanted to pursue acting.

After appearing in a horror film and guest starring on several TV shows, Buckley joined the cast of the CW’s hit series One Tree Hill. He went on to play Captain Lilywhite in iZombie and Peter in Hart of Dixie.

He joined the cast of the Hallmark series Chesapeake Shores in its fifth season. His character, Evan Kincaid, was brought in as a possible love interest for Abby (played by Meghan Ory). Evan Kincaid was a brilliant but eccentric billionaire, who hired the O’Brien family to help him with local business interests. Though Abby complained about him at first, she began to soften toward him when she realized he was lonely.

In a Season 5 cliffhanger, Abby chose Evan over schoolteacher Jay Ross (played by Greyston Holt). Their romance unfolded in Season 6, which ended up being the last for the series.

Buckley grew close to the cast during filming. When Treat Williams was killed in an accident in 2023, Buckley posted a tribute to him on Instagram.

“Treat was a special guy,” he wrote. “He had a big smile, even bigger heart and he loved to laugh. He was a joy to be around. I’m grateful for the time we spent together and that I was able to call him a friend. He will be greatly missed.”

Buckley has also appeared in the movies The Christmas Contract (2018), Love in Store (2020), The Christmas House (2020), and The Christmas House 2: Deck Those Halls (2021).

  • Victor Webster and Alison Sweeney race to find a killer in new Hallmark mystery

Victor Webster and Alison Sweeney race to find a killer in new Hallmark mystery

Victor Webster and Alison Sweeney will reunite on the small screen in a new Hallmark mystery. The actors, who played husband and wife in Hallmark’s The Wedding Veil series, will join forces to find a killer in the movie One Bad Apple: A Hannah Swensen Mystery.

“So excited for the new #HannahSwensen mystery One Bad Apple to premiere this Friday night!!” wrote Alison Sweeney in a social media post promoting the movie. “Thank you @hallmarkmystery for helping us make these fun movies.”

“Think you’ll figure it out before we do?” wrote Victor Webster in his own post.

    Victor Webster and Alison Sweeney

Victor Webster and Alison Sweeney have starred in several Hallmark movies together. Webster played Sweeney’s love interest in the popular Hallmark series The Wedding Veil.

But this is his first appearance in the popular Hannah Swensen series. One Bad Apple: A Hannah Swensen Mystery is the ninth movie in the series, which is based on novels by Joanne Fluke.

Up until the last film, A Zest for Death: A Hannah Swensen Mystery, Cameron Mathison starred opposite Alison Sweeney as Mike Kingston, a local detective and her fiancé. Their romance developed over the course of the series. But fans were left reeling when the characters broke off their engagement in the seventh film, Carrot Cake Murder: A Hannah Swensen Mystery.

Though they reunited to solve a case in the next movie, they never reconnected romantically.

    New Hallmark mystery

In One Bad Apple, Hannah is asked to teach a baking class at the local college. Her equipment is tampered with causing an explosion that the fire department rules accidental. But then one of her new colleagues is murdered and Hannah finds herself on the list of suspects.

While trying to prove her innocence, she comes face-to-face with handsome local prosecutor Chad Norton (Webster) and sparks fly.

    What about Cameron?

Cameron Mathison has moved on from Hallmark to work for Great American Media, a company founded by former Hallmark CEO Bill Abbott.

In an interview with TV Insider, Alison Sweeney talked about the changes in Hannah and Mike’s relationship.

“Mike is attracted to Hannah and her crime-solving ways, her mind, the fact that she is so interested, the fact that she’s good at it,” she told TV Insider. “She does get people to talk to her in a way that sometimes Mike or other detectives aren’t able to get them to open up. She does have really good instincts and a unique way of getting people to open up to her. I think the cookies help. Mike respects that, and he loves that about her, but it causes him a lot of trouble at work, and for good reasons and maybe also not-so-good reasons, the sheriff isn’t too keen to have Hannah getting involved in the crime-solving business. So that’s been a tricky thing for [Mike] to navigate. And unfortunately, I think Mike is a little old school, so he struggles with how much of that to share with Hannah.”
