Kevin McGarry fans eager to see his moves on the ice are in for a treat. In the new Hallmark Christmas movie Checkin It Twice, the Canadian actor will show off his skating skills playing a professional hockey player.
The When Calls the Heart star even took to Instagram to give fans a chance to win a jersey he wore in the movie.
“I have a movie coming out in a few days, October 20, it kicks off Hallmark’s Countdown to Christmas, and it is a sports movie…,” he said. “And I play a hockey player, Scott Briggs, in it and this is his actual jersey, my actual jersey…. And this could actually be yours if you make a donation of five dollars or more to the MLSE Foundation and in the comments section you write, ‘Jersey,’ you will be entered into a raffle to win my jersey. I’ll write a little note on it just for you and you can take it and, you know, do whatever you want with it.”
The actor also talked a little bit about the MLSE (Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment) Foundation, which provides grants for children to have access to sports.
Hallmark Christmas movie
Checkin It Twice will mark the start of Hallmark’s 2023 Countdown to Christmas lineup.
In the film, Kim Matula stars as Ashley, a New York real estate agent who has come home to Trout Falls, Idaho, to visit her family at Christmas. While at the airport gift shop, she runs into Scott Briggs (McGarry) who is a hockey player for the local Division III team.
Ashley finds out that Scott will be staying at her family’s guest house and sparks fly between the two when she shows him around the town. But their romance is put on hold when both are offered huge career opportunities.
For Ashley, this would mean an immediate return to New York City. For Scott, this means moving to another town to play for a Division II team.
