Tamera Mowry-Housley stars in the new Hallmark movie Girlfriendship

Three friends on a weeklong retreat rediscover their passions and purpose in the new Hallmark movie Girlfriendship. The movie, which will premiere as part of Hallmark’s Fall Into Love lineup, stars Tamera Mowry-Housley, Lyndie Greenwood, Krystal Joy Brown, and Brad James. It was directed by Keisha Knight Pulliam.

“Behind the scenes of all this Melanin poppin…#girlfriendssummergetaway,” wrote Mowry-Housley in an Instagram post promoting the movie.

“The last three weeks I made long lasting friendships, learned a lot about myself, worked with women who paved a way for me to see myself on screen and made a movie!” wrote Brown in her own Instagram post.

New Hallmark movie

In the movie, Mowry-Housley plays Samara Williams, a woman who is celebrating both her birthday and what looks like an upcoming promotion with a trip to Charleston with her two best friends (played by Greenwood and Brown). But a mistake during the booking process means the women aren’t staying in the city but on Edisto Island, where they are expected to take part in a back-to-nature “rewilding” retreat.

Though it’s not the vacation they had in mind, the women try to make the best of the situation. They soon find themselves learning more than they expected at the hands of the retreat leader, Ariella (played by Samantha Beaulieu), a descendent of the Gullah Geechee people of Edisto Island.

Samara meets Kareem, a handsome Gullah doctor with a secret dream of becoming a chef. She starts to listen to the call of her inner artist and finds herself painting again for the first time in years.
