Hallmark stars congratulate Donne Kelce on her new role

Donna Kelce will join Tyler Hynes and Hunter King in an NFL-themed Hallmark Christmas movie. The mother of Kansas City tight end Travis Kelce and former Philadelphia Eagles player Jason Kelce will appear in Holiday Touchdown: A Chiefs Love Story, which is set to premiere during Hallmark Channel’s annual Countdown to Christmas lineup.

“Welcome to the @hallmarkchannel family @donnakelce,” wrote Andrew Walker in response to an Instagram post promoting the movie. “You’re in good hands with @tyler_hynes.”

Rachel Boston also weighed in, writing, “Oh my goodness!!!!! I love this SO much!!!!!! Mama Kelce.”

    Hallmark Christmas movie

Hallmark announced in June that it was teaming up with the Kansas City Chiefs to make a football-themed romance movie.

“With Hallmark and the Kansas City Chiefs both homegrown, rooted in values, tradition and community, there is a special alchemy between these two iconic organizations,” said Darren Abbott, chief brand officer for Hallmark. “By blending the warmth of Hallmark storytelling with the excitement of professional football, we are thrilled to give audiences a front-row seat to this community’s spirit, rich traditions and passionate fans that define Kansas City, all wrapped up in the comforting and uplifting Hallmark way.”

    New role

Many believe the movie was inspired by a trailer the Chiefs made to promote the 2024 playoffs of a parody Hallmark romance movie.

In the film, Jannel Parrish played Amber, a woman whose football-obsessed former fiancé left her at the altar. Tyler Hynes played Ben, the sports-loving owner of a store that appears to carry only Kansas City Chiefs merchandise. The two meet and — of course — sparks fly.
But when Amber questions whether she could ever trust her heart to someone so interested in football, she gets some friendly advice from a waitress played by Donna Kelce.

“The heart can be in two places at once,” Kelce said.
The trailer was so popular that fans started asking for the real thing.
“Love it!! Wish it would become a real film,” wrote one fan on Instagram.

    Mama Kelce

Fans reacted enthusiastically to the news that “Mama Kelce” would be joining the cast.

“I’m definitely supporting this movie because of @donnakelce because she’s an inspiration to all moms out there and the camaraderie of Jason and Travis. They are the true meaning of Brotherly Love,” wrote one.

“Mama Kelce in a Hallmark Christmas movie just makes sense,” wrote another. “Couldn’t be more Ready For It.”

Filming has already begun on Holiday Touchdown: A Chiefs Love Story. Hallmark Channel has not yet given a release date for the movie. We will update this story as more information becomes available.

  • Kansas City Chiefs pairing up with Hallmark Channel for new football-themed Christmas movie

Kansas City Chiefs pairing up with Hallmark Channel for new football-themed Christmas movie

The Kansas City Chiefs will pair with Hallmark Media to make a new football-themed Christmas movie. Holiday Touchdown: A Chiefs Love Story will premiere during Hallmark Channel’s 2024 Countdown to Christmas lineup.

The movie, which stars Tyler Hynes, Hunter King, and Ed Begley Jr., will include cameos by some of the players.

“We are honored to partner with Hallmark on a project as unique as this,” said Kansas City Chiefs president Mark Donovan. “As a club, we pride ourselves on exploring new ways to grow our brand, as well as connect with new audiences. This partnership unites two passionate fan bases and gives us an opportunity to show Chiefs Kingdom’s energy and tradition on one of the most-watched channels during the holiday season.”

    Deja vu

This is not the first time the football team and the Kansas City-based media company have joined forces. To promote the 2024 playoffs, the Chiefs made a trailer for a parody Hallmark film starring Tyler Hynes and Jannel Parrish.

In the trailer, Parrish played Amber, a woman whose football-obsessed former fiancé left her at the altar. Hynes played Ben, the sports-loving owner of a store that appears to carry only Kansas City Chiefs merchandise. The two meet and — of course — sparks fly.

But when Amber questions whether she could ever trust her heart to someone so interested in football, she gets some friendly advice from a waitress played by Donna Kelce, mother of Kansas City tight end Travis Kelce.
“The heart can be in two places at once,” Kelce said.

The trailer was so popular that fans started asking for the real thing.

“Love it!! Wish it would become a real film,” wrote one fan on Instagram.

“I can’t stop watching these videos!! Love them! Now we need @donnakelce to make a Hallmark movie with @tyler_hynes and @janelparrish,” wrote another.

    Christmas movie

A Hallmark spokeswoman said that filming is expected to begin on Holiday Touchdown: A Chiefs Love Story this summer.

In the movie, Hunter King plays Alana, a Kansas City Chiefs super fan who has entered her family in a competition to find the team’s “Fan of the Year.”

Tyler Hynes plays the team’s director of engagement, who is tasked with evaluating Alana’s family and two others to determine who will win the contest.

Ed Begley Jr. stars as Alana’s grandfather, who taught her everything she knows about football. When his vintage Kansas City Chief’s hat goes missing, Alana starts to doubt everything she believes about the game and her favorite team.

But with Derrick’s help and a little Christmas magic, she gets her team spirit back.

    Travis Kelce

Hallmark has not yet revealed which players will make appearances in the movie. However, Travis Kelce has made it known that he is a fan of the network’s movies. During an episode of his podcast, New Heights, the NFL tight end told comedian Andrew Santino that he enjoys the Kansas City-based company’s films.
“Are you a Hallmark guy, Trav?” Santino asked.
“I dabble now. Yeah,” Kelce said.

Though she doesn’t have the time, Abigail agrees because she knows her sister could really use the money for her growing family.

  • My Grown-Up Christmas List will debut during Hallmark’s Christmas in July 2022

My Grown-Up Christmas List will debut during Hallmark’s Christmas in July 2022

The original movie My Grown-Up Christmas List will premiere during Hallmark’s Christmas in July 2022 lineup. Starring real-life couple and When Calls the Heart co-stars Kayla Wallace and Kevin McGarry, it is the first of three new Christmas movies to debut this month on Hallmark.

My Grown-Up Christmas List is based on a song written by Amy Grant and David Foster. In the movie, Wallace plays a journalist Taylor Nichols and McGarry plays Luke Malone, who is in the military. According to a synopsis from the network, the movie follows “the special bond that grows between them over the course of several Christmases spent together and apart.”

    Christmas in July 2022

This is the second movie that Wallace and McGarry have starred in together. In March, the pair headlined the romantic comedy Feeling Butterflies. Wallace played Emily, a lepidopterist (the scientific name for a butterfly expert) trying to build a business that releases butterflies at birthday parties and weddings.

“Which is an actual, popular thing,” Wallace said during an appearance on the Everything About Hallmark podcast. “I had no idea.”

She is hired to do a release at a birthday party for a little girl named Amanda (played by Alyssa Gervasi). Emily connects with both the birthday girl and her handsome, widowed father, Garrett (played by McGarry).

Through Garrett’s connections, she gets the opportunity to do a release at a socialite’s wedding, an event that could bring her business the publicity it desperately needs. Garrett and Amanda agree to help her get ready, and as Garrett and Emily spend more time together, she develops feelings for him. Things become complicated when Garrett’s ex-girlfriend shows up, and Garrett contemplates moving to New York City.

    About the stars

A native of Canada, Wallace got her break on the Disney TV movie Descendants as a member of the chorus. She had parts on the TV shows Ice, The Good Doctor, and Breckman Rodeo. Wallace also starred in the TV movies Once Upon a Prince, Terrified at 17, and Undercover Cheerleader. She joined the cast of Hallmark’s hit series When Calls the Heart in 2019, playing Fiona Miller.

McGarry is also a native of Canada. He played Mitch Cutty on the series Heartland from 2015 to 2021. He also had parts in the Hallmark movies Love at First Bark, Autumn Stables, and Winter Castle. He joined the cast of When Calls the Heart in 2019 as Mountie Nathan Grant.

The pair have recently been sharing photos from a trip to Italy on social media, where they have been joined by co-stars Erin Krakow and Ben Rosenbaum. She posted a photo when the cast got the news that When Calls the Heart had been renewed for a 10th season.

“News just reached Italy🇮🇹 Mamma Mia! Here we go again!” she wrote on Instagram.
