One of the stars of the Hallmark series Signed, Sealed, Delivered, will soon be taking a turn behind the camera. Yan-Kay Crystal Lowe will direct the Hallmark movie Dream Moms, becoming the first woman to take part in the network’s new Make Her Mark Women’s Directing Program.
“The cat is officially out of the bag,” Lowe wrote in an Instagram post. “I’ve been learning SO much these last few weeks. So grateful to be in the @hallmarkchannel family. And for guidance from @jessicanoelleharmon and to @ashleywilliamsandcompany for being such a champion of women and creating the program.”
Making her mark
The Make her Mark program is the initiative of actress and filmmaker Ashley Williams. The actress, who has starred in the Hallmark movies Never Kiss a Man in a Christmas Sweater, Christmas in Evergreen, and Two Tickets to Paradise recently directed the Paramount Network movie A Nashville Country Christmas.

“As a female filmmaker, I know all too well the feeling of being told, ‘no,’ and I am absolutely thrilled to partner with Hallmark on Make Her Mark, a program that says, ‘yes,’ by empowering, training, and supporting women directors and giving them much-deserved opportunities to bring their creative vision to the screen,” Williams said in a statement. “Crystal blows me away with her intelligence, experience, and willingness to roll up her sleeves and jump right into the business of learning and making movies. I look forward to that moment when she is a mentor herself and joins me in paying it forward and opening the door for the many women who will come after her.”
New movie
Crystal Lowe will shadow Jessica Harmon — who directed the Hallmark movies A Paris Proposal and Rip in Time — on her new film Dream Moms. Lowe will then have a chance to direct her own project.
“Crystal has worked with us for years in front of the camera,” said Lisa Hamilton Daly, Hallmark Media’s executive vice president of programming, in a statement. “Her professionalism, creative instincts, and enthusiastic interest in the filmmaking process made it clear that she was the ideal candidate to help us inaugurate the program.”

Signed, Sealed, Delivered
Lowe plays Rita Haywith in the hit Hallmark movie series Signed, Sealed, Delivered. The films, written by Touched By An Angel creator Martha Williamson, follow the four postal workers who track down the recipients of letters that have been marked “undeliverable.”
The series started as a TV show but after the first season, Hallmark changed the format to movies. To date, 12 movies have been made: Signed, Sealed, Delivered: Delivered For Christmas (2014), Signed, Sealed, Delivered: From Paris With Love (2015), Signed, Sealed, Delivered: Truth Be Told (2015), Signed, Sealed, Delivered: The Impossible Dream (2015), Signed, Sealed, Delivered: From the Heart (2016), Signed, Sealed, Delivered: One in a Million (2016), Signed, Sealed, Delivered: Lost Without You (2016), Signed, Sealed, Delivered: Higher Ground (2017), Signed, Sealed, Delivered: Home Again (2017), Signed, Sealed, Delivered: The Road Less Travelled (2018), Signed, Sealed, Delivered, Delivered: To the Altar (2018), and Signed, Sealed, Delivered: The Vows We Have Made (2021).

Romance rules! Hallmark star leading new fundraising effort
A new fundraising effort by Hallmark star Benjamin Ayres has taken off, raising thousands of dollars for charities that help women and children.
The actor has designed hoodies, T-shirts, necklaces, teddy bears, and other merchandise featuring a distinctive Romance University logo. (If it looks vaguely familiar, it’s because it’s based on Harvard University’s logo.)
Now Hallmark stars from Ali Sweeney and Nikki DeLoach to Tyler Hynes and Andrew Walker have been seen sporting the merchandise.
Inspiration from fans
Last year, Ayres had a few buttons made for his fellow Hallmark co-stars featuring a “Hallmark University” logo. He took some along when he attended Christmas Con 2022 in New Jersey. At the event, he handed some out to fans.
“This was the first time that I had done one of these conventions, and it was great,” he said in an interview with Digital Journal. “Ultimately, I just could not have imagined how beautiful, strong, and heartfelt the community is for the movies that we make. It was an incredible feeling.”
Ayres created more merchandise and changed the logo from “Hallmark University” to “Romance University.” He began selling the apparel online with the goal of donating the proceeds to charity. The collection sold out in less than two weeks and raised more than $4,000, which Ayres donated to charities benefiting women and children.
On January 19, Ayres and his wife visited two of the organizations in Toronto that benefited from the fundraising efforts: Street Haven, a 50-bed emergency shelter, and Anduhyaun, the oldest Indigenous Women’s Shelter in Canada.
Three Wise Men and a Baby
In early February, Ayres made a mockup of a logo featuring Andrew Walker, Tyler Hynes, and Paul Campbell in their roles in the Hallmark hit Three Wise Men and a Baby. He sent it to Walker, who responded with enthusiasm. The new line made its debut in time for Valentine’s Day. Proceeds from the line are going to Alexandria House, an LA transitional home for women and children handpicked by Walker and his wife, Cassandra Troy.

“The RU Alumni raised $5000 in less than two weeks for @alexandriahousela !!” read a post on Romance University’s Instagram page. “Andrew and Cassandra visited the women and dropped off a donation on Valentine’s Day. Could we even wish for anything better than that?!Congratulations everyone! @awalkk35 @casstroywalker @tyler_hynes @paulcampbellofficial.”
Ayres plans on introducing new designs on a regular basis and he is getting lots of support from his fellow Hallmark stars.
“It all started with these warm wonderful humans one evening in Vancouver. I can’t thank them enough for their support and kindness,” he wrote in a social media post.
About Ayres
Ayres had starring roles in the CTV series Saving Hope and the HBO Canada series Less Than Kind. (He was nominated for a Canadian Screen Award for the latter.) He also appeared on the shows The Good Doctor, Suits, Burden of Truth, and JPod.
In 2020, he co-starred with Nikki Deloach in the Countdown to Christmas movie Cranberry Christmas. In 2021, he co-starred with Danica McKellar in You, Me & the Christmas Trees. In 2022, he appeared in Long Lost Christmas and starred in Color My World With Love, a romantic drama featuring two actors with Down Syndrome.

Hearties, the news you have been waiting for is here! When Calls the Heart has been renewed for another season.
“Season 11! I’m over the moon!” wrote Erin Krakow in an Instagram post. “Thank you so much @hallmarkchannel and thank you to our #Hearties – the best fans in the universe!”
“‘When Calls the Heart’ has continued to be a standout amongst our Hallmark catalogue and we’re thrilled that we’re able to bring more stories of faith and community to the homes of millions of viewers,” said Lisa Hamilton Daly, executive vice president of programming at Hallmark Media.
Production on Season 11 of the hit series will begin in July, which is also when Season 10 will premiere.
“The uplifting nature of the show paired with the love and positivity in the storytelling makes for a very heartwarming television experience and it’s only going to get bigger and better in season 11,” Hamilton-Daly said.
Good news for Hearties
Brian Bird, the show’s co-creator, weighed in on the announcement on Twitter.
#Hearties 10 seasons of any series is huge news… 11 seasons is even bigger news!” he wrote in a post.
Fans of the hot series became anxious when Hallmark Channel pushed back the premiere of Season 10 from its expected premiere date in March to July.
“I’ve shared with other #Hearties that my fear is S10 is the last season,” wrote one fan on Twitter. “#WCTH was the network’s flagship scripted episodic show. Now, it has been relegated to a mid-summer premiere. I’m not buying any other reason for the delay.”
“Hallmark cancels Chesapeake Shores which in my view was the best show on the network,” wrote another fan. “I hope your show does not get cancelled, but when you get put into the summer season, that tells me that is the end.”

When Calls the Heart
When Calls the Heart premiered on Hallmark Channel in 2014. Based on a series of books by Canadian author Janette Okes, the show followed a privileged young woman (placed by Erin Krakow) who moved to a small western mining town to teach school. The series also stars Jack Wagner, Pascale Hutton, Kavan Smith, Chris McNally, Kevin McGarry, and Kayla Wallace.
According to Hallmark Season 11 will feature 12 new episodes. Season 10, which also features 12 episodes, will premiere on July 30.

Brendan Penny shares his favorite scenes from Chesapeake Shores
Hallmark star Brendan Penny recently revealed his favorite scenes from the hit series Chesapeake Shores. In an interview with a British news site, Penny talked about how important the first season was in developing his character Kevin O’Brien.
“Some of my favorite moments were in the first season when I’m kind of blown up and I’m in the hospital bed in my house and I’m all messed up,” Penny said
Brendan Penny
Penny has talked before about his first season on the series, which premiered in 2016 on Hallmark Channel.
In the show, he played Kevin O’Brien, a war veteran who returns to his small hometown in Maryland following a tour of duty. He stays with his father (played by Treat Williams) and his grandmother (played by Dianne Ladd), while he attempts to overcome the physical and emotional toll military service has taken on him.

Chesapeake Shores
Based on a series of books by author Sherryl Woods, Chesapeake Shores starred Meghan Ory as a single mother who returns home to her large Irish family following a divorce. She is immediately thrown back into the drama of her large family and she reconnects with ex-boyfriend Trace Riley, who was played by Jesse Metcalfe.

He made his Hallmark debut in the 2014 movie Along Came a Nanny. Since then he has starred in A Dash of Love, Magical Christmas Ornaments, Pride, Prejudice, and Mistletoe, Easter Under Wraps, The Secret Ingredient, Beverly Hills Wedding, and ’Tis The Season for Love.
“I’ll do Hallmark movies for the rest of my life if they let me,” he said in a 2017 interview with TV Goodness. “It’s always some of the nicest people you could ever meet. Everybody is there to have a good time and do a good job and to make something that makes people feel good. I laughed so completely on every single one of those movies.”

Her sister Vanessa (played by Kara Duncan) suggests she return home to their small Nebraska town to regroup. Olivia reluctantly agrees and even manages to get a lift from her roommate’s friend George (played by Tarasiuk), who is driving from New York City to Los Angeles.
They set out on their trip but get delayed when George’s car breaks down just outside Olivia’s hometown of Valentine, Nebraska.
Forced to spend several days together, both George and Olivia start to realize that they may have their priorities mixed up. As the attraction between them grows, they wonder if maybe the road trip is the start of a beautiful relationship.

The end of When Calls the Heart? Fans fear Season 10 will be the show’s last
Fans disappointed that the Season 10 premiere of When Calls the Heart has been pushed back to July now have another issue with Hallmark Channel. Some Hearties fear that the series is coming to an end.
“I have shared with other #Hearties that my fear is S10 is the last season,” wrote one fan on Twitter.
Season 10 of When Calls the Heart
In past years, Hallmark’s hit series has premiered in either February or March. But earlier this month, Hallmark announced that Season 10 won’t premiere until July.
“#Hearties! It’s here!” read an Instagram post shared by the show’s page. “An EXCLUSIVE FIRST LOOK just for you of SEASON TEN! Save the date because the new season is arriving late July to @hallmarkchannel. The Hearties get the very first peek before it’s released worldwide!”
But some fans were disappointed by the delay.
“Relieved to hear it’s coming back but why the wait?” one fan wrote on Facebook.
Others accused Hallmark of abandoning When Calls the Heart to promote its two new shows, The Way Home and Ride.
Season 1 of The Way Home premiered on January 15. Hallmark announced that the final episode of the season will air on March 26, the same night that Ride will premiere.
The end of When Calls the Heart?
While some Hearties despaired over the new premiere date, others were unconcerned about the timing.
“I think it was moved BECAUSE of the great fan base it has and shows the strength of the show,” one wrote on Twitter. “I think @hallmarkchannel
knows they can put #WCTH anywhere on their schedule and it will get great ratings. #Hearties.”

So many Hearties spoke out that Brian Bird, the show’s co-creator, replied on Twitter.
“There are good reasons for every decision, most of them the #Hearties will never know, but #WCTH has been underestimated and counted out several times before,” he wrote. “I will only defer to Mark Twain on all the speculation… ‘the news of my death has been greatly exaggerated.’”
What are your thoughts, Hearties? Is this the end of When Calls the Heart?

Evan Williams: The Way Home is exactly the kind of show we need right now
The star of Hallmark’s new series The Way Home says the show is exactly what audiences need right now. In an exclusive interview with TV Cheddar, Evan Williams said that when he first read the script for the series, he was struck by how timely it was.
“We’re coming out of a couple of years of real pressure and trauma,” Evans told TV Cheddar in an interview that can be viewed here. “There’s nothing that’s going to traumatize you in our show…but at the same time that doesn’t mean that we can’t have stakes and we can’t have compelling storytelling.”
The Way Home
Hallmark’s new series premiered on January 15 to an audience of 2.4 million viewers. Starring Andie MacDowell, Chyler Leigh, and newcomer Sadie Laflamme-Snow, the show follows three generations of women in one family who struggle to come to terms with painful events from their past.
The series was written by Heather Conkie and Alexandra Clarke, a mother-daughter team who have written for Disney and collaborated on the CBC series Heartland.
Elliot Augustine
In the show, Evan Williams plays Elliot Augustine, a friend of Kat Landry (Leigh), who returns to her small hometown following a split with her husband. Elliot is a teacher at the local high school, and it soon becomes clear he knows more about the Landry family than they know about each other.
When Kat’s teenage daughter, Alice, falls into a pond on the family’s farm, she is able to travel back in time to 1999. Not only does she get to meet her mother when she was a teenager, but she also gets to see what her grandmother was like before a tragedy changed her life forever.

Williams, who has starred in films and TV shows in Canada and the U.S., said he was intrigued by the character when he read the script.
“That was what really attracted me to this role,” he said, “was getting to be the outsider who is trying to make his way to the inside and he doesn’t have an agenda, he’s not a Machiavellian character, he’s a true-hearted person and he wants to love and he wants to actualize his life.”
About Evan Williams
Evan Williams is a native of Alberta, Canada. He earned his theater degree from Ryerson University (now Toronto Metropolitan University).
From 2015 to 2018 he starred in the TV series Versailles and in 2019 he appeared on Fuller House (the reboot of Full House). He has had roles in the movies Blonde, Midnight at the Magnolia, Escape Room, and Paradise Club.

The romance between Andrew Walker and Nikki DeLoach heats up in new Hallmark mystery
Andrew Walker and Nikki DeLoach are back in a new Hallmark mystery. The sequel to a movie released last year, Curious Caterer: Grilling Season sees the romance between the two leads heat up.
In a Facebook Live event to promote the movie, Andrew Walker and Nikki DeLoach talked about the growing tension between their characters, Detective Tom Schultz and caterer Goldy Berry.
“There’s a little bit more flirtation going on in this movie than there was in the first one,” Walker said.
New Hallmark mystery
Curious Caterer: Grilling Season is the follow-up to Curious Caterer: Dying For Chocolate, which Hallmark Movies and Mysteries released last year.
Based loosely on a series of mystery books by Dianne Mott Davidson, the movies follow a caterer named Goldy Berry, who helps a detective in her small town — Tom Schultz — solve murders. (The fact that she eventually becomes Goldy Schultz in the books should give viewers a sense of where their relationship is headed.)
In Grilling Season, Goldy caters a barbecue for a friend who ends up dead after her grill explodes after the party. Goldy is the number one suspect because she was the last one to use the grill. She works with Schultz to clear her name.
The situation becomes even more complicated when Tom’s ex-wife shows up while they are trying to solve the murder.

‘Work husband’
In their Facebook Live event, Walker and DeLoach joked about how often they have been paired up in Hallmark movies. Walker even referred to himself as DeLoach’s ‘work husband.’
He even asked fans to continue their support for the new mystery series so he could work exclusively with DeLoach.
Walker has appeared on the TV shows Sabrina the Teenage Witch, Reba, The Big Bang Theory, CSI: Miami, CSI: NY, ER, and When Calls the Heart. He has starred in the Hallmark movies A Bride For Christmas, Debbie Macomber’s Dashing Through the Snow, Merry & Bright, Sweet Autumn, Christmas Tree Lane, My Christmas Family Tree, A Maple Valley Christmas, and Three Wise Men and a Baby.
DeLoach played Brenda Long on Days of Our Lives from 2007-2009. She also had roles on Walker, Texas Ranger, CSI: NY, Cold Case, NCIS, Mad Men, Criminal Minds, and Grey’s Anatomy. She has starred in the Hallmark movies The Gift of Peace, Taking the Reins, Cranberry Christmas, and Love Takes Flight.
Curious Caterer: Grilling Season will premiere on Hallmark Movies and Mysteries on Sunday, February 5 at 7/6c.

Skeptical TV reporter Dean Chase (played by Jeannotte), becomes determined to debunk the rumor and approaches Sweet telling her he wants to do a story on her shop.
She reluctantly agrees, and the two begin to interview couples that fell in love after eating her chocolate. It soon becomes clear that Sweet and Chase have different ideas about romance. Both have been burned in the past. However, Sweet still believes in true love while Chase has sworn it off entirely.
Chase’s editor becomes intrigued by the story and orders Chase to eat one of the chocolates during a live feed from the store on Valentine’s Day. Meanwhile, one of the first couples Sweet brought together with her chocolate has a nasty breakup. Right when Sweet starts to doubt her ability to bring couples together, Chase convinces her that putting more love into the world is a good thing, even if there might be some heartaches along the way.
