Alicia Witt shares her journey to healthy living with new book
It seems Alicia Witt didn’t have enough credits to her name. The actress, classically trained pianist, former child prodigy, recording artist, and touring musician recently added published author to her résumé.
Small Changes: A Rules-Free Guide to Add More Plant-Based Foods, Peace & Power to Your Life is a personal, judgment-free look at fad diets and exercise plans Witt followed in the past, and how she found her way to her current health and wellness.
The Massachusetts native, who now lives in Nashville, is active on Instagram, where she shares photos and videos of the food she grows in her own yard.
In an interview with the Worcester Telegram & Gazette, she said the book got its start right when the pandemic was gaining steam.
“My tour had been canceled so it was the perfect time to just hunker down and instead of focusing on the terrifying world events, just to focus on maybe being able to help people a little bit through all of my various experiences,” she said.
”People don’t want to be lectured,” Witt said. “They don’t want to be told how to eat or what is right for their body and their lifestyle,” Witt said. “And I think that of the most well-meaning so-called help gurus can repulse exactly the people that need the help the most by giving them a list of rules and regulations and actually telling them that you might as well just quit if you’re not going to be 100 percent vegan or 100 percent macrobiotic or 100 percent whatever … You can change a few small things at a time and you do not need to drastically overhaul your own life. And you’re going to start to feel and notice the difference.”
