Ali Skovbye plays an heiress who witnesses a murder in the new Hallmark movie Gilded Newport Mysteries: Murder at the Breakers. The movie, which takes place in Newport, Rhode Island in 1895, also stars Nathan Witte and Brady Cross. It is based on the book by Alyssa Maxwell.
New Hallmark mystery
In Gilded Newport Mysteries: Murder at the Breakers, Skovbye stars as Emma Vanderbilt-Cross, a distant relative of Cornelius Vanderbilt and a writer for the Newport Observer. When New York society decamps to Newport for the summer season, Emma prepares to cover various balls and parties for the society pages.
But during a ball at the Vanderbilt’s summer home, the family’s financial advisor is murdered and the prime suspect is Emma’s half-brother Brady (played by James Drew Dean). She decides to take matters into her own hands and sets out to prove her half-brother’s innocence.
With help from local detective Jesse Whyte (played by Danny Griffin) and the household staff, Emma sets out to figure out whodunnit. But as she gets closer to the truth, the murderer goes on the offensive, putting Emma — and everyone who helps her — in danger.
