Pascale Hutton and Kavan Smith must track down a killer in the Hallmark mystery Nelly Knows Mysteries: A Fatal Engagement.
This is the fifth Hallmark movie that Smith and Hutton, who play Lee and Rosemary Coulter on the TV series When Calls the Heart, will star in together.
Also featured in the film is actor Nelson Wong, who has appeared in more than 30 movies for Hallmark.
New Hallmark mystery
Pascale Hutton plays an advice columnist named Nelly who receives a letter from her childhood friend, Dahlia. Convinced her boyfriend is cheating on her, Dahlia asks for Nelly’s help.
Nelly rushes to Dahlia’s boyfriend’s house only to discover that he has been murdered. Dahlia becomes the prime suspect and Nelly becomes determined to clear her friend’s name. She tries to insert herself into the murder investigation, much to the annoyance of the detective assigned to the case (played by Kavan Smith).
When Calls the Heart
Pascale Hutton joined the cast of the hit Hallmark TV series When Calls the Heart during its first season as Rosemary LeVeaux. Kavan Smith was added to the show in its second season, playing businessman Leland Coulter.
The two fell in love and got married. In Season 10, they welcome a baby girl, Marigold “Goldie” Coulter.
The actors are great friends on-set and off, though both are married to other people. Their onscreen chemistry is so good that Hallmark has paired them in four other movies, the romantic comedies The Perfect Bride (2017), The Perfect Bride: Wedding Bells (2019), You Had Me at Aloha (2021), and Notes of Autumn (2023).
