The scariest part of the new Hallmark mystery movie Mystery Island is that it takes place on a remote island with NO CELL SERVICE.

If that isn’t terrifying enough, there is also a murder.

New Hallmark mystery

In Mystery Island, Elizabeth Henstridge stars as Dr. Emilia Priestly, a noted British criminal psychiatrist. When her friend, Baroness Jane Alcott (played by Kezia Burrows) insists she take some time off, Priestly agrees to accompany the baroness on a trip to a mystery-themed resort island.

When she arrives, she discovers the no cell service rule and comes face-to-face with the resort’s eccentric owner, John Murtaugh (Robert Getman). In the resort’s inaugural weekend, the guests are supposed to solve a pretend murder.

But when the guests discover the owner dead, the game is halted and the entire island is shut down so that police can investigate.

Solving a mystery

Though Emilia is at the resort to relax, she soon puts her investigative skills to use and joins forces with the handsome local detective (played by Charlie Weber) who has been sent out to solve the case.

“The lines between game and reality are blurred as they unravel the web of romance, revenge, and betrayal behind the resort, its guests, and its elusive founder,” reads a synopsis from the network.
