Andrew Walker, Tyler Hynes, and Paul Campbell among the stars to headline new fan convention

Tyler Hynes, Andrew Walker, and Paul Campbell will be among the Hallmark stars to appear at the Halloween and Harvest Festival, a new fan convention put together by the same team that created Roma Drama Live!

The event, which will take place from Oct. 31 to Nov. 4 in Conyers, Georgia, will feature meet-and-greets, discussion panels, and even parties featuring Hallmark stars.

    Hallmark stars

In addition to The Trinity of Hotness — Tyler Hynes, Andrew Walker, and Paul Campbell — the event will feature Trevor Donovan, Kristoffer Polaha, Benjamin Ayres, Taylor Cole, Kimberley Sustad, Niall Matter, Will Kemp, and Brittany Bristow.

The event will combine a convention for fans of the TV shows The Vampire Diaries and The Originals with fans of Hallmark movies.

    New fan convention

The first Roma Drama Live fan convention took place in 2019. The event was put together by friends and business partners Gabrielle Graf Palmer, an entertainment and sports sponsorship executive, and Sara Lunsford, a management consultant.

“We love Hallmark movies, Lifetime movies, they are an escape from our everyday life,” said Lunsford, in an interview posted to RomaDrama’s website. “And we’ve always been able to get on the phone and talk about them. It’s just been a fun thing for us over the years and we know we’re not alone.”

The three-day event was held at the Factory at Franklin outside Nashville, where fans came face-to-face with their favorite Hallmark stars. Other conventions have followed in different locations around the country.

“Creating ways to help people celebrate and connect is at the very core of our brand DNA at Hallmark, especially during the holiday season,” said Lindsey Roy, Hallmark’s senior vice president of brand development. “We are so excited to bring this uniquely Hallmark experience to life, and can’t wait to watch people find joy and make memories together.”

RELATED NEWS: Hallmark gets into the Christmas convention game with new “Hallmark Christmas Experience” in Kansas City

Lunsford and Graf Palmer have been friends for 25 years. In an interview with Forbes, they said they met at the airport in Atlanta when they were both wearing the same outfit. They stayed in touch — Graf Palmer lives in Columbus, Ohio; Lunford in Arkansas — and attended several VIP events together. A few years back they began talking about putting together one of their own.

“We wanted to give women like ourselves the opportunity to escape everyday life,” Graf Palmer said. “And truly live in that fun, happy, nothing bad ever happens, everything is perfect world where they can escape their husbands and their children and their pets and all of their work experiences, and they can melt into a true VIP experience where they get to live for a whole weekend with their friends and meet those actors.”

Before they could get anything set up, both women experienced personal tragedy. Graf Palmer’s marriage ended, and Lunsford’s husband was killed in a car accident.

The women persevered, pitching investors, but with COVID lockdowns in place, no one wanted to give them money. Graf Palmer and Lunsford were faced with a choice: give up, or use their own money to fund the event. They took the leap, starting BriteStar Events, LLC.

“Regardless of how many people tell you, ‘You’ll fail,’ or ‘You need to get a real job, stand your ground,” Graf Palmer told Forbes. “Have confidence in your strength, and do not lose sight of your dream. It’s terrifying and painful more than not. You will have sleepless nights, you will lose half a head of hair, and question your decision with every other breath, but keep going and do not take no for an answer.”

    Event details

The Halloween and Harvest Festival will take place in Old Town Conyers, Georgia, from Friday, October 31, Saturday, November 1, and Sunday, November 2. Fans can either buy single day admissions passes ($50 for Friday, $75 for Saturday, and $75 for Sunday) or weekend passes for $175.

Attendees can add VIP packages or extra “add-ons” that allow them to meet celebrities, get autographs, and even attend parties with their favorite Hallmark stars.

  • Hallmark star Nik Sanchez makes directing debut in new movie for Easterseals Disability Film Challenge

Hallmark star Nik Sanchez makes directing debut in new movie for Easterseals Disability Film Challenge

Hallmark star Nik Sanchez is making his debut as a writer and director in this year’s Easterseals Disability Film Challenge. The 19-year-old college student, who calls himself “awesomely autistic,” also starred in the short comedy, titled Over.

“I’ve always had a passion to tell stories and write out my feelings,” Sanchez said in an exclusive interview with TV Cheddar. “I felt like it was a perfect
time to express my emotions through a story and filming a short film helps me do that perfectly.”

Click here to watch the film.

    Easterseals Disability Film Challenge

The Easterseals Disability Film Challenge was founded in 2013 by actor, comedian, producer, and disability advocate Nic Novicki.

“I created the Easterseals Disability Film Challenge to help accelerate change within Hollywood and to provide filmmakers and actors with tangible work experience and with an opportunity to tell authentic stories,” he said. “We are proud of the amazing films produced over the past 10 years — viewed around the world — and the successes our participants have gone on to achieve.”

Since the Film Challenge was launched in 2013, aspiring filmmakers have created and submitted more than 600 short films.

Last year, Sanchez appeared in the Easterseals Disability Film Challenge in the short movie Safe Place.

He said his experience in the movie inspired him to try writing and directing for himself.

“I was so amazed by how much effort was put into the film by such a small group,” he said. “And the film was really good. I thought that if I can act and understand how making a film works, I could write my own film too.”

    Awesomely autistic

Sanchez was diagnosed at a young age with autism and ADHD. His mother enrolled him in acting classes at the age of five because he enjoyed role-playing.

“The instructor told me I wouldn’t do well because I had the attention span of a gnat,” Sanchez said.

But Sanchez proved his teacher wrong. In high school, he signed with an agent and soon after booked his first role as a recurring character on the ABC series The Rookie.

The experience taught him a lot.

“..I didn’t realize we’d have to do the scenes over and over and over again, because of the angles and the camera changes,” he said. “I gained a much higher respect for the actors.”

    Hallmark star

Sanchez made his Hallmark debut in the 2021 movie Our Christmas Journey with Holly Robinson Peete. He played 18-year-old Marcus, a young man on the autism spectrum who lives with his mother (played by Holly Robinson Peete) but wants to move into an independent living facility.

Robinson Peete and her husband, former NFL player Rodney Peete, have been vocal advocates for members of the autism community since their son, RJ, was diagnosed with the condition as a young child. In 1993 they founded the HolyRod Foundation, a non-profit dedicated to raising awareness and providing resources to families that have a loved one who has received an autism or Parkinson’s disease diagnosis.

Sanchez described working with Robinson Peete as “amazing.”

“Working with her was probably the closest I’ll ever get to making a movie with my own mom,” he said. “She just knew things. Being around her felt very natural from day one.”

He said he liked the script for Our Christmas Journey because it was an accurate portrayal of life with autism.

“In real autistic families, everybody is affected,” he said. “Everybody plays a role and this movie really portrays that.”

    Interview

Nik Sanchez recently answered some questions for TV Cheddar about his new project, his college career, and his love of filmmaking.

TVC: You recently changed college majors. What inspired the change?

NS: I changed my major from Game Art Design to TV and Film Production mainly because I wanted to learn even more about the film industry, sooner rather than later. I still want to create video games but I want to create games that become movies or movies that become games. …Ever since I started acting, I was so fascinated by everything about it. There are so many different roles and experiences that you could have while being in the industry. I have met so many great people, learned so many new things. I strive to be a great actor, and a great filmmaker. The best video games have an awesome main character and an amazing story line — just like TV and movies. I can’t wait to create new stories, characters and adventures for the
    gaming and film industries.

TVC: Why did you decide to enter your own film in the Easterseals Disability Film Challenge?

NS: I’ve always had a passion to tell stories and write out my feelings. I felt like it was a perfect time to express my emotions through a story and filming a short film helps me do that perfectly. Last year, I just acted in a short film by Jennifer Msumba and Scott Klumb. I was so amazed by how much effort was put into the film by such a small group. And the film was really good. I thought that if I can act and understand how making a film works, I could write my own film too. So I did!

TVC: How did you decide what to write about? How long did it take you to complete the script?

NS: I went mostly off one of the theme options of the challenge (Dynamic Duo) and wrote about one of my favorite dynamics in the whole world: How opposites attract. The yin yang is a symbol I love. To me, it symbolizes that both darkness and light create harmony within a human. I love finding relationships with people that seem like they don’t work or don’t make
sense but when you find someone that’s completely opposite of you, you guys balance each other out and create a force or bond that is nearly unbreakable. It took me about two days to finish writing the full script. Originally, it was 15 pages. …Eventually, with the help of my good friend and co-star, Havon Baraka, we got it down to like eight pages. So all in all like a week and a half to finish the script.

TVC: How long did it take to make the movie? Were there any unexpected challenges you faced in the getting the film made?

NS: We used two days to film/shoot the movie. And gave the editor, Diego Hinojosa, three days to edit, then I wanted to upload one day before the deadline in case we ran into any technical difficulties. Trying to squeeze all the scenes into two days was a little tough. However, that was not the biggest challenge. The biggest challenge was really just finishing the script in the first place.

Like I mentioned before, my script was waaayyy too long. I was really proud of the script and it was hard to figure out which things I felt good with removing. I hope I made the right choices.

TVC: What do you hope viewers get from the film?

NS: I hope viewers understand that the concept of an odd friend dynamic is not just for entertainment purposes. Regardless of disability, differences, and faults, as long as both are putting in effort to understand one another and be there for one another, they can do anything. Me and my friend Havon, who acted in the film, are great friends but we see the world through two different lens. I see the world more optimistically but sometimes naive, and he sees the
world with a more pessimistic but logical view. But together, we are smarter and stronger. This is where I got the idea in the first place as well. Because of our dynamic.

TVC: Are you working on any other projects? Do you have ideas for your next film?

NS: I have another big film that’s coming out in 2025. I’m not allowed to talk about it yet, but I am SO excited that I got to be a part of it. I can’t wait to see how it turns out. And I’m working on a few other school projects that I’m excited to get started on.

TVC: What advice would you give to aspiring filmmakers?

NS: I would say, if you have an idea, go for it. Even if it’s the craziest idea. Write a story. Create a world that is led by your imagination. As a kid, I had countless ideas that I wish I could have turned into a reality. In the film industry, with the right tools, the right people and with a lot of patience, you can turn any idea into reality. So if you have an idea, don’t give it up. Write it down, write a script, or make a small film. Draw out ideas so you’ll never lose them. That’s my advice. Don’t let ideas fade away so quickly.

Nik Sanchez’s film Over can be viewed here. Feel free to “like” and share with friends.
  • Good Witch star James Denton injured while preparing for TV appearance

Good Witch star James Denton injured while preparing for TV appearance

Good Witch star James Denton has been injured while training to appear on a French television show. The actor, 61, told fans on Instagram that he hurt himself during rehearsals for the French version of Dancing With the Stars.

“Grade 3 hamstring tear in rehearsal — a frustrating setback,” he wrote in the caption. “Sincere apologies to the Danse Avec Les Stars audience and other contestants for not being able to participate last night.”

    James Denton

Fans were thrilled when Denton announced he would be appearing on the 13th season of Danse Avec Les Stars. The actor admitted he was nervous because he couldn’t dance and didn’t speak French but fans were supportive.

“You’re going to hit that show out of the park,” wrote one fan on Instagram.

“I can’t wait to see you dance,” wrote another. “I wish you lots of fun and good luck.”

    TV show

In a promotional interview for Danse Avec Les Stars, Denton admitted that his initial response to appearing on the show was negative.

“When I was asked I said no,” he said.

But his children convinced him otherwise.

“Then I thought about it and I asked my kids and they both said, ‘No, it’s very cool. You have to do it,’” he said.

Denton said that part of his reluctance had to do with the fact that he had little experience.

“I’m not a dancer,” he said. “I’ve never danced in my life at all. So it was a little bit scary, which is the main reason I decided to do it.”

The actor admitted that he had some advantages.

“If I have a strength it is maybe that I’m a musician,” he said. “…And I was an athlete in my younger days.”

    Injured

Last week, Denton posted a photo to Instagram sharing the news. Since then, he has added messages updating fans on his progress.

“My new daily routine with the amazing Cyril Msika,” he wrote, sharing a photo of his physical therapist at work. “I’ll be back.”

Denton has been paired with dancer Candice Pascal. When asked who he would love to dance with, he immediately mentioned his Desperate Housewives co-star Teri Hatcher.

    Good Witch

For seven seasons, Denton starred on the hit Hallmark series Good Witch as Dr. Sam Radford. Hallmark abruptly canceled the series in 2021. But Denton and Bell were reunited on the small screen in the 2023 Countdown to Christmas movie Christmas on Cherry Lane.

Denton also starred on the ABC series Desperate Housewives as Mike Delfino.

    Dancing With the Stars

Denton is not the only contestant to face an injury while filming the series. Participants in both the French and American versions have suffered everything from bruised ribs to broken limbs while competing on the reality show.

Denton remains optimistic about getting back on his feet. He said he would love to dance to the song Singing in the Rain.

“When his son was young that was his favorite song,” he said.

  • Fans are in a frenzy after seeing this post on Kayla Wallace’s Instagram

Fans are in a frenzy after seeing this post on Kayla Wallace’s Instagram

Some Hallmark fans are in a frenzy over a recent Instagram post on Kayla Wallace’s account. The photo shows a Polaroid of Wallace and her When Calls the Heart co-star and fiancé Kevin McGarry smiling at the camera. The only caption is a heart.

While some fans thought it was just a sweet nod to her romance with McGarry, others are convinced the photo is proof that the pair are married.

“Photo evidence,” wrote one fan in the comments section.

    Kayla Wallace’s Instagram

Kayla Wallace and Kevin McGarry announced in December 2022 that they were engaged. The couple posted a video to Instagram with the caption, “Forever.”

    Fans were thrilled.

“Best couple EVER,” wrote one. “I love the way you look at each other.”

Their When Calls the Heart co-star Erin Krakow weighed in with, “Our forever friends found their forever! So happy for you both! Still haven’t recovered from this beautiful moment!”

Wallace and McGarry met on the set of Hallmark’s longest-running original series When Calls the Heart in 2019. Both actors joined the series in its sixth season.

McGarry was cast as Mountie Nathan Grant, who was brought on the show as a suitor for widow Elizabeth Thornton (played by Erin Krakow). Wallace joined the cast as Fiona Miller, an independent young woman who was brought to Hope Valley to help set up the town’s first switchboard.

Wallace and McGarry announced they were a couple in 2020. In March 2022 they starred in the Hallmark rom-com Feeling Butterflies. The movie was so popular Hallmark featured the couple again in the 2022 Christmas in July movie My Grown-Up Christmas List.

The evidence. (Every single one of us scrutinized this photo. We can’t decide if there is a wedding band and engagement ring or just an engagement ring on her hand. Thoughts?) (Image: Instagram/@imkaylawallace)

    Instagram post

Over the years, both McGarry and Wallace have shared photos and messages to each other on Instagram. But it was a Valentine’s Day post that got fans excited.

In the photo, Wallace is wearing a white dress and has her hand on McGarry’s shoulder. Some fans claim she is wearing two rings on her finger. (Every single staff member here at TV Cheddar has taken a look and we cannot agree on whether there is a second ring or not.)

“Did you get married?” one fan wrote. “You are wearing 2 rings. Congratulations!!!!”

“Zoomed in on photo and your ring finger,” wrote another. “You got two rings on it looks like. Is this maybe photo evidence of more than just being engaged?”

Neither Wallace nor McGarry responded immediately to the rumors. We will update this article as soon as more information becomes available.

  • Tyler Hynes and Janel Parrish join Donna Kelce in new promo for Kansas City Chiefs

Tyler Hynes and Janel Parrish join Donna Kelce in new promo for Kansas City Chiefs

Hallmark stars Tyler Hynes and Janel Parrish joined Donna Kelce in a promotional video made to look like a Hallmark movie. In the three-minute video, which was made to promote the playoffs, Hynes and Parrish star in a mock trailer for a Hallmark-esque movie titled Falling For Football.

“A lot of creativity and lovely people come together to put something like this together,” Hynes wrote in an Instagram post. “Few as lovely as these folks.”

    Kansas City Chiefs

In the video, Parrish plays Amber, a woman who was left at the altar by her football-crazed fiancé. Hynes plays Ben, the sports-loving owner of a store that appears to carry only Kansas City Chiefs merchandise. The two meet and — of course — sparks fly.

“When these opposites meet it’s anything but a touchdown,” claims the narrator for the video.

Both Ben and Amber receive advice from acquaintances.

“Forget it, Ben, she’ll never go for you,” says a co-worker played by Mitch Holthus. “She’s lost the postseason spirit.”

In another scene, Amber sits at the counter of a diner saying she doesn’t know how she could trust a man who loves football so much.

“How can he love me and football?” she asks.

Her waitress, played by Donna Kelce, replies, “The heart can be in two places at once.”

The video also featured players Tommy Townsend, Creed Humphrey, and Dante Hall. Even the team mascot, KC Wolf, made an appearance.

    Video

Fans loved the video, which had close to half a million views within a few days of being posted.

“Love it!! Wish it would become a real film,” wrote one fan on Instagram.

“I can’t stop watching these videos!! Love them! Now we need @donnakelce to make a Hallmark movie with @tyler_hynes and @janelparrish,” wrote another.

    Tyler Hynes and Janel Parrish

Parrish also shared behind-the-scenes footage on her Instagram account. Though the trailer isn’t for a real movies, Hynes and Parrish have shared the small screen before. The pair starred in the 2023 Countdown to Christmas movie Never Been Chris’d.

Hallmark and competitor Great American Media announce layoffs

At Great American Family, 13 executives were affected, including the CFO and head of marketing. Some of the layoffs at Great American Family were attributed to a recent merger with the streaming service Pure Flix.

    Hallmark

In a statement to Deadline, a Hallmark spokesperson said that some positions were eliminated while others have been added.

“Hallmark Media organizational changes were announced internally today representing a new, more streamlined structure,” read the statement. “As such, some executive leadership roles were eliminated, while new and expanded roles were created in order to forge new opportunities that will strengthen our focus on our core, and build new capabilities for our consumers and viewers. • A complete list of Tamera Mowry-Housley’s Hallmark movies

A complete list of Tamera Mowry-Housley’s Hallmark movies

One of Hallmark’s most popular stars, Tamera Mowry-Housley has starred in half a dozen movies for the network, including Christmas flicks, romantic comedies, and a film in Hallmark Channel’s Mahogany series.

Tamera Mowry-Housley rose to fame with her twin sister Tia Mowry on the ABC/WB sitcom Sister, Sister. What some fans may not know is that Tamera and Tia pitched the show to network executives.

“My sister and I met with Irene Dreyer and Suzanne de Passe, and we loved Sweet Valley High, that show, and of course The Parent Trap,” she said in a 2022 interview with Parade. “We just got our heads together, thought of an idea with Kim Bass as well, who’s known for all that, and we would go to different networks and pitch it, and sometimes do a scene.”

    Tamera Mowry-Housley

Following her success on Sister, Sister, Tamera went on to become one of the hosts of the daytime show The Real. She also starred in movies for Disney and Pure Flix. In 2011, she married journalist Adam Housley after six years of dating. They have two children.

In 2022, she published a memoir titled You Should Sit Down for This: A Memoir About Life, Wine, and Cookies. In the book, she shared stories about the pressures of being a teenage star, the challenges of balancing family and career, and why it’s okay for women to hide out in their closets when they just need a few minutes of peace.

According to a promotion for the book, “Being raised in Hawaii as an army brat instilled in her the discipline needed to succeed and conquer her dreams, but she felt secluded and sheltered, and wondered if living on her own terms would ever be her reality. Then, she decided it would. Tamera stopped letting other people define her, tapped into her faith, and tossed away negativity to hone her own happiness and create a unique path forward for herself.”

    Hallmark movies

    A Christmas Miracle (2019)

In this Miracles of Christmas movie, Mowry-Housley starred as Emma, a single mom who has just moved to Denver with her son to start a new job as an executive assistant at a lifestyle magazine.

Hoping to get a job as a writer, Emma pitches a story about a Christmas miracle. While working on the article, she develops a friendship with the magazine’s photographer (played by Marcus Welsh). The two decide to help make a wish come true for a lonely local street musician known as Santa Dean (played by Barry Bostwick).

    Christmas Comes Twice (2020)

Mowry-Housley played Cheryl, an astrophysicist who works for the National Science Foundation.

When she returns home for the holidays, she heads to the local Christmas carnival with her sister (played by Zarrin Darnell-Martin). She takes a ride on a carousel, only to find out that she has somehow traveled back in time to five years earlier.

She makes contact with her science teacher (played by Sheryl Lee Ralph) and her former “frenemy” George (played by Michael Xavier). As she is reminded of why she loves science, she also develops new feelings for George. But when she finally figures out how to reverse time travel, she must ask herself if she wants to leave this new life behind.

    The Santa Stakeout (2021)

In this Christmas rom-com, Mowry-Housley and Paul Campbell starred as police detectives assigned to go undercover as a couple to solve a series of heists taking place at high-profile holiday parties.

Though the detectives at first clash, they soon find they have more in common than they thought. As they participate in the neighborhood’s holiday activities, they become swept up by Christmas. They begin to see each other in a new light and start to fall in love.

    Girlfriendship (Image: Hallmark Media)

    Girlfriendship (2022)

In this movie, one in Hallmark’s Mahogany series, Mowry-Housley starred as one of three friends headed on a girls’ weekend. In an interview with Parade, Mowry-Housley shared what she liked about the movie.

“Each of these girls is at a pivotal moment in their life where they’re existing, but they’re not living,” she said. “This trip challenges them to search within and not live for their mom or their dad, or not live just for their children. Don’t forget who you are even though you’re married and have kids, or go for that business opportunity to evolve. That is what this movie is about. And of course, it’s Hallmark, so it has romance. But romance isn’t necessarily the center of it, it’s more about having that romance with yourself, and each girl has a different rediscovery.”

What's on the Hallmark schedule this weekend? New Christmas movies including Inventing the Christmas Prince
Inventing the Christmas Prince (Image: Hallmark Media)

    Inventing the Christmas Prince (2022)

Mowry-Housley starred as Shelby, a rocket scientist, widow, and devoted single mother. Right before the holidays, she tells her daughter a fairy tale about a Christmas prince with a white horse and carriage.

When her daughter meets Shelby’s boss (played by Ronnie Rowe Jr.), she becomes convinced he is secretly the Christmas prince. Shelby begs him to play along, and soon she begins to develop feelings for him.

    Dream Moms (2023)

In Dream Moms, Mowry-Housley played Danielle, a one-time off-Broadway performer and former backup singer. When her brother RJ (played by Roger Cross) introduces her to Claire, a former professional dancer and single mother, the two hit it off. RJ convinces them to enter a televised nationwide talent show. Though the women are hesitant at first, they soon decide to chase their Broadway dreams a second time.

In an Instagram post, Mowry-Housley mentioned that the movie was the first in a series of films produced under Hallmark’s new Make Her Mark program. Founded by actress and filmmaker Ashley Williams, the program promotes mentorship between experienced and aspiring female directors.

Dream Moms was directed by Jessica Harmon, who was shadowed by actress Crystal Lowe (yes — that Crystal Lowe). The Signed, Sealed, Delivered star will now direct a film of her own for Hallmark.

  • Scam artists posing as Hallmark stars on social media are bilking fans for money. How to avoid being a victim.

Scam artists posing as Hallmark stars on social media are bilking fans for money. How to avoid being a victim.

Scam artists are posing as Hallmark stars on social media and friending fans, only to bilk them out of money.

An investigation by TV Cheddar found there are hundreds of fake accounts on Facebook and Instagram of people pretending to be Hallmark celebrities.

It’s a situation the stars themselves find upsetting. In an Instagram video, Ryan Paevey begged his fans to use caution if someone approaches them on social media.

    https://www.instagram.com/reel/CD9Fa72FNjb/

“Little PSA because social media can be an awful place sometimes,” he wrote. “I only have one Instagram account, this one, and no chat accounts or anything like that….that’s the way it’ll always be. Be careful guys and gals, lots of weirdos out there…and @instagram is completely inept or doesn’t care (likely the latter) when it comes to safeguarding the public from situations like this, or helping me have them removed once i find out.”

    Scam artists

Scam artists will set up fake social media accounts in order to reach out to fans. After introducing themselves, the scammers will then either ask for personal information to gain access to a fan’s account, install malicious software, or ask for money.

Anyone with access to the Internet can set up an account on Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter claiming to be a celebrity.

A quick search on Facebook for Tyler Hynes reveals close to 60 separate accounts using profile pics of the actor. Many of the accounts use accurate personal details about the star, including the city where he was born and the high school he attended. Some even have followers.

But the pages are just the start. Posing as celebrities, scam artists then comment on legitimate Facebook posts and reach out to fans.

    Protect yourself

Here are a few rules to follow on social media to keep yourself safe:

    1. Be alert, be aware. Celebrities rarely reach out to fans on social media. Some may respond to comments on the posts they make on their official accounts, but they do not generally initiate contact on other pages or accounts.

While Hallmark celebrities love their fans, they simply don’t have the time to search the Internet looking for new Facebook friends.

    2. Do your research. If someone reaches out to you claiming to be a celebrity, click on the name and check the account. Official celebrity accounts have thousands of fans. Scammers have, at most, a thousand. Many don’t have any followers at all. Remember, ANYONE can claim to be a celebrity on social media.

    3. Report the scammer to Facebook or Instagram. Both social media platforms have ways you can report someone who is claiming to be a celebrity.

    4. Trust your instincts. If an interaction seems suspicious, it probably is.

    5. Don’t feel obligated to respond. If you suspect a scammer has contacted you, you don’t have to call them out directly if that makes you uncomfortable. Instead, report the incident to social media admin and block the person reaching out to you. To block someone, click on their name and look for options labeled either “block” or “stop communication.”

  • Luke MacFarlane returning to Hallmark in new movie

Luke MacFarlane returning to Hallmark in new movie

Good news for fans of handsome firefighters everywhere: Luke Macfarlane is returning to Hallmark! The actor will star in a new romantic comedy alongside Ashley Williams, Peter Porte, and Marcus Rosner.

The news was welcome by Hallmark fans, who responded to the announcement on social media with enthusiasm.

“Looking forward to seeing this movie!!!” wrote one fan on Hallmark Channel’s Facebook page. “I am so glad that Luke is back!! I love his acting!!”

    Luke Macfarlane

Luke Macfarlane has starred in 13 movies for Hallmark, often playing a firefighter. But in September 2022, the actor told LA Times he wasn’t planning on working with the network anymore.

“They’ve been very good to me, but I think I’ve told my story for now with those folks,” he said. “I mean, how many firefighters can I play?”

Macfarlane made it clear there were no hard feelings behind the decision, even saying that Hallmark had taught him some important skills.

“One thing that I really enjoyed about making Hallmark movies is it’s really fun to flirt,” he said. “It’s fun to play that energy on camera, where relationships are at their best in those early times. I guess Hallmark has given me a lot of flirting lessons.”

His friend Ellie (played by Ashley Williams) is a classically trained pianist who has been working at a big city hotel and feels like she is in a creative rut. She suggests to Leo that they switch homes for the fall and he agrees.

Singer-songwriter Debbie Gibson is acting as an executive producer on the movie. Gibson previously produced and starred in the Hallmark movies Summer of Dreams (2016) and Wedding of Dreams (2018).

“I’m so thrilled to have a creative voice during such an exciting time in Hallmark Channel’s programming,” Gibson said in a statement through Hallmark. “This is a special story that celebrates how love can blossom in the most unexpected ways.”

Notes of Autumn will premiere on Hallmark Channel on Saturday, September 16 at 8/7c.

Jack Wagner excited about new love interest on When Calls the Heart

In a recent appearance on social media, Jack Wagner told fans how excited he was for Bill Avery, the character he plays on the hit Hallmark series When Calls the Heart.

“There’s a smokin’ hot blonde that comes to town and he goes for it,” he said during a Facebook Live appearance to promote the series. “What can I say?”

    Jack Wagner

Jack Wagner has played Bill Avery on the series since Season 1. He originally arrived in Hope Valley (then called Coal Valley) to investigate an explosion at the mine. He stayed on and became sheriff and then a judge.

During Season 9, he developed a severe cough and was advised by the town’s doctor (played by Andrea Brooks) to go to the city for an X-ray.

At the start of Season 10, he discovered a set of hot springs just outside of town. Though he wanted to keep the news to himself, word got out and tourists began showing up to see for themselves.

In an interview with Digital Journal, Wagner talked about how his character shows more vulnerability in this season than he has in the past.

“It has been nice to have some scenes with Erin Krakow, who plays Elizabeth, where my character shows some vulnerability,” he said. “I love how by the book my character is, and I also like the comedy that he brings to the series.”

    New romance

In Episode 3 of Season 10, Bill finds a car blocking the hitching post at the saloon. When he goes inside to complain to Lucas, he finds out that the car belongs to Madeline St. John (played by Stefanie Von Pfetten), a beautiful woman who is new to town.

Over the years, Bill Avery has had a few romantic interests. When he first arrived in Hope Valley, he was drawn to Abigail Stanton (played by Lori Loughlin). He also courted local widow Dottie Ramsey (played by Erica Carroll) as well as AJ Foster, who was played by his Wedding March co-star Josie Bissett.

In the Facebook appearance, Wagner said he is excited for viewers to see the storyline.

“So Bill, we’ve seen him a bit verklempt in this season and at a crossroads in terms of, you know, is he really going to change his life,” he said. “…It’s mysterious, it’s a bit dangerous, but yet we see him open his heart and actually feel romance for the first time in quite a while.”

Great American Family was launched two years ago by Bill Abbott, the former president and CEO of Hallmark Media. In an interview with USA Today, Abbott said he hoped to make the network Abbott said he wanted the network to champion family-friendly entertainment.

“We believe we’ll be the leader in quality family entertainment in this space,” Abbott said. “…That’s a lofty and challenging objective. But we think we have the team in place to do it and the experience to do it.”

The network began producing original content in 2021 but it has picked up the pace in recent months. In a recent interview, Abbott said that Great American Family will air an original movie every weekend for the rest of the year. Some weekends, he said, there will be an original movie on both Saturday and Sunday.

“We’re very excited about that,” he said. “And most importantly, the quality’s up significantly from where we were last year. In starting this business, at times, we’ve had to go out and put some things on the air that didn’t necessarily project where we want to be. And that’s just due to the fact that it’s hard to create a lot of content very quickly.”

     Autumn lineup

The first of the new movies to air will be Learning to Love, starring Ina Barrón and Philip Boyd. In the movie, Boyd plays Harry, the widowed father of two girls. As he and his daughters try to cope with their grief, they find their faith lacking. That changes with the arrival of a new nanny (played by Barrón).

Love Can Surprise You stars Camilla Belle and David Lafontaine. Belle stars as Carina, a popular love and romance relationship columnist. When her boyfriend breaks up with her on the night Carina thought he might propose, she begins to question if she really knows anything about love. Enter new writing partner Liam Snyder (Lafontaine) who ends up helping Carina to rewrite her own love story.

    Craft Me a Romance

Next up is Craft Me a Romance, starring Jodie Sweetin. This movie has already earned a lot of attention as Sweetin has made it clear she does not approve of Great American Family.

In a statement to People, Sweetin said she had little control over where the film ended up and that she would be donating the money she made to LGBTQ+ causes.

“Sometimes, we, as actors, don’t have control over which network buys the projects we are in, nor are we a part of the process in which they get sold,” she said. “So I was very surprised to learn by reading about it in the press yesterday that the independent film I worked on over a year ago was sold to Great American Family.”

In the movie, Sweetin stars as a craft store owner who finds out a rival (played by Brent Bailey) is planning on buying her business.

    Haven’t Met Yet

In Haven’t Met Yet, Merritt Patterson plays professional matchmaker Lucy Marks. When Lucy meets a handsome businessman (played by Joshua Sasse), she feels the spark of love for the first time, only to have her hopes dashed when she learns the man is her next client.

Next up, Jessica Lowndes and Trevor Donovan will reunite onscreen in A Harvest Homecoming. The actors previously starred in 90210 together.

Donovan stars as Drew, a man who accepts a temporary substitute job in his old hometown of Chestnut Hollow, Texas. He meets Aiden, the proverbial new kid at school, desperate for a caring friend. While he would rather have taken a job anywhere else, Drew reconsiders Chestnut Hollow when he meets Lainie Abbott (Lowndes), the new manager of his parents’ massive apple orchard and cider mill business, and more importantly, Aiden’s mom.

    Swing Into Romance

Danica McKellar will put the skills she learned on Dancing With the Stars to use in the new romantic comedy Swing Into Romance. McKellar plays a former professional dancer who returns to her small hometown for a visit and finds out that her family’s general store is in trouble. She decides to dust off her dancing shoes in an attempt to keep the business going. The movie also stars David Hayden-Jones and Gleb Savchenko.

Finally, Alicia Dea Josipovic and Corey Sevier will star in Mystery By the Book. Josipovic plays a book cover model and Sevier plays a bookstore owner. Together they try to solve a mystery when he discovers an antique key found in a false book.

  • Alexa PenaVega celebrates a double quinceañera in new Hallmark movie

Alexa PenaVega celebrates a double quinceañera in new Hallmark movie

The new Hallmark movie Never Too Late to Celebrate will premiere as part of the network’s Summer Nights lineup. Alexa and Carlos PenaVega will star in the romantic comedy.

In an Instagram post, Alexa praised the film’s director, Felipe Rodriquez, for his hands-on approach to filming.

“Last day with this very special group of people,” she wrote. “The last photo (while hilarious) is actually something we have never seen on a set before. We were filming a “summer” day while there was literal snow falling… everyone on camera (the amazing background actors, me and Los) were freezing wearing summer clothing doing our best to fake being warm. Our amazing and beyond wonderful director Felipe decided if we had to suffer… he would suffer with us. … This man had his shirt off until we finished the scene. … Never in my thirty years of show biz have I experienced a director do this. We love you Felipe! Thank you for an incredible shoot!”

    New Hallmark movie

Alexa PenaVega stars as Camila, whose busy schedule at the dental practice where she works has left her exhausted and with little time for a life outside of her patient load. When she meets Javi (Carlos PenaVega), a substitute teacher at the school where Camila’s mother works, she takes him up on his offer to join the Spanish class he teaches on the side so she can finally learn the language of her late father.

Sparks fly as Javi helps Camila connect with her Mexican roots. When he finds out Camila’s 30th birthday is coming up, Javi suggests she honor her heritage with a quinceañera-themed birthday party. Not one for big parties, Camila hesitates at first but soon decides to celebrate in style.

    About the cast

Carlos and Alexa have been married since 2013. Both devout Christians, they met at a bible study group in Los Angeles. They moved to Hawaii soon after their first child was born.

“We…knew that we didn’t want to raise our kids in Los Angeles,” she said in a recent interview. “I felt this tug in my heart. I felt it was God going, ‘You guys need to get out of here. It’s time.’ I didn’t want to move. I knew it was the right decision, but it wasn’t something that I was so excited about.”

The couple, who have three children together, recently released a book called What if Love is the Point? Living for Jesus in a Self-Consumed World. (It can be found on Amazon here.)

They starred opposite each other in the 2017 Hallmark movie Enchanted Christmas. They have also appeared together in Love at Sea (2018), the Picture Perfect Mysteries, and Love in the Limelight (2022).

Never Too Late to Celebrate will premiere on Hallmark Channel on Saturday, August 19 at 8/7c.

    Paevey on Hallmark

In a 2021 Facebook Live appearance, Paevey shared what he likes about Hallmark.

“Hallmark is really kind of keyed into an equation that really works,” he said. “We’re not trying to reinvent the wheel. If repetitive and overly sweet are the worst things that can be leveled against you, I think you’re doing okay.”

  • Andrea Brooks: “There’s something to be said about family values and the entertainment space.”

Andrea Brooks: “There’s something to be said about family values and the entertainment space.”

In a recent interview, Hallmark star Andrea Brooks talked about how motherhood had changed her.

“It upends absolutely everything in your life,” she told TV Fanatic. “Since becoming a mom, my roles, especially in the Hallmark movies, have meant so much more to me.”

Brooks, who plays Dr. Faith Carter on When Calls the Heart, says her three-year-old likes to watch the show and has even seen some of the romantic comedies she has made for Hallmark.

“There’s something to be said about family values and the entertainment space,” she said. “My three-year-old can watch one of these movies, and she does; she does watch episodes of When Calls the Heart. She watches pieces of the movies that I do, and that we can share that experience is amazing.”

    Andrea Brooks

Andrea Brooks started her professional acting career at 15 after being discovered at an open casting call for the 2005 Disney movie Ice Princesses.

She went on to have roles on the TV shows Supernatural, UnREAL, iZombie, and Supergirl.

She made her Hallmark debut in the 2017 movie Destination Wedding, which starred Alexa PenaVega. She starred in the Hallmark movies A Harvest Wedding (2017), The Sweetest Heart (2018), Jingle Around the Clock (2018), Romance to the Rescue (2022), and A Lifelong Love (2023).

In 2015, she joined the cast of Hallmark’s When Calls the Heart as nurse Faith Carter. Her character went on to attend medical school and become the town’s doctor.

    Motherhood

Brooks documented both of her pregnancies on social media, showing fans how she hid her baby bump while filming.

Her first child was born in 2019. She had her second baby in 2022.

In her interview with TV Fanatic, Brooks said motherhood has changed everything.

“It makes everything more important,” she said. “I appreciate my time on set a lot more. I appreciate my time getting to work with other creative people a lot more because, you know, life is so chaotic when you have a family. It makes everything better because, at the end of the day, there’s someone waiting for you who needs you.”

Brooks also said that her work with Hallmark has changed her outlook on life.

“I know this will sound so cheesy, but many of these movies have done a good job showing me that I need to open my heart a bit more, be more available, and be open to spontaneity,” she said. “All of these movies do a good job of reminding me of some basic elements of existence, as silly as that may sound.”

  • Wonya Lucas is out after three years at Hallmark

Wonya Lucas is out after three years at Hallmark

After three years as president and CEO, Wonya Lucas is stepping down as the head of Hallmark Media. The industry veteran will continue to serve on the company’s Board of Directors.

“I am honored to have led this company and am tremendously proud of the progress we’ve made by creating an evolved entertainment experience that inspires meaningful, emotionally connected moments for our audiences,” Lucas said in a statement to Deadline. “My passion for the Hallmark brand has grown in deeply rewarding ways and will remain paramount as I continue to help guide Hallmark Media’s future in a more strategically focused capacity.”

    Wonya Lucas

Wonya Lucas took over as president and CEO of Hallmark in July 2020, six months after Bill Abbott left the company. A veteran of the industry — Lucas had held leadership positions at TNT, TBS, Discovery Channel, The Weather Channel, and TV One — she was given the task of diversifying the casts and storylines in Hallmark’s movies and TV series.

“My first goal was understanding the audience, but then also understanding what I called the opportunity audience,” Lucas said in an interview with CNBC.

Under her leadership, Hallmark forged deals with Peacock, YouTube, and Hulu, as well as numerous FAST/AVOD platforms. Lucas also was instrumental in launching a series of movies based on Hallmark’s Mahogany card line and the Make Her Mark Women’s Directing Program.

    Changes

But not all of her decisions were popular with fans. In July 2021, Hallmark announced it would be canceling its popular series Good Witch after seven seasons. Fans were devastated and began online petitions to bring the series back.

The network later canceled Chesapeake Shores, as well as the mystery franchises Hailey Dean Mysteries, Mystery 101, and Picture Perfect Mysteries.

Hallmark Channel launched two new shows in 2023, The Way Home and Ride, as well as several new mystery series, including The Curious Caterer and Family History Mysteries.

    Mixed reactions

Some Hallmark fans responded to the news by showing support for Lucas.

“Wonya is and has always been a class act,” wrote one Hallmarkie in the comments section of a Deadline article. “Hallmark was lucky to have her, and they will feel her loss. Watch this space to see the next great thing Wonya does.”

    Others were not so supportive.

“She destroyed the company and now she leaves its smoking ruins,” wrote another. “So many shows she canceled – Home and Family (the best way for Hallmark to promote its movies and shows) and every single one of its mystery series – Candace’s, Lacey’s, Jill’s, Taylor’s, Holly’s, Jesse’s. Drove so many Hallmark favorites away from the channel. She couldn’t have done a ‘better’ job at destroying the company if she’d actually tried.”

Hallmark has not commented on who will replace Lucas, saying only that the CEO of Hallmark Companies, Mike Perry, will work with the executive leadership team to “complete the process of Lucas’ transition.”

Andrew Walker and Brittany Bristow find love on safari in new Hallmark movie

The new Hallmark movie Love on Safari features Andrew Walker and Brittany Bristow. The film, one of six new Hallmark movies to premiere in August, was filmed on location at the Mabula Game Lodge and the Lion & Safari Park.

In an Instagram post, Andrew Walker talked about grateful he was to be part of the film.

“Gratitude is an understatement,” he wrote. “With all that’s going on right now in our industry and a lot of our peers out of work, this has been a trip and a job that we truly feel so fortunate to be a part of. This was a family project, written, produced, acted and directed by the beautiful Bristows. I was brought into the fold and immediately felt like family. Thank you for this unforgettable experience, jobs like this are few and far between. We can’t wait to share this movie with you all.”

    New Hallmark movie

In the movie, Brittany Bristow plays Megan, a research scientist who is working on a game reserve in South Africa while pursuing her Ph.D. in ethology. She is assigned to take a theme park designer (played by Andrew Walker) around the reserve so he can gather ideas and images for an interactive safari-themed attraction.

As they explore the savanna and observe giraffes, elephants, and lions, they open up to each other about their dreams and begin to grow close.

Things are going well until a woman from Tim’s past arrives to take over the project. Megan begins to wonder if she should be growing close to someone who will soon return to the United States.

    Family production

The movie was written by Agnes Bristow, who is Brittany’s mother. Leif Bristow — Brittany’s father — directed the movie. He and his daughter have worked on several movies together, including the Hallmark rom-com A Tail of Love.

In an Instagram post, Brittany shared a photo from the set.

“It’s not every day you get photobombed by a giraffe… twice…” she wrote. “Shandor, thank you for making so many days while filming so special and for being the best driving instructor. It was so nice to be able to see you again and I hope we get to see each other sooner rather than later.”

A Safari Romance will premiere on Hallmark Channel on Saturday, August 12 at 8/7c.

It stars Erin Krakow, Jack Wagner, Pascale Hutton, Kevin McGarry, Chris McNally, and Andrea Brooks. The show premiered in January 2014. It was only the second series Hallmark Channel produced.

“If there’s anything we can take away from the success of ‘When Calls the Heart,’ it’s that the stories we’re telling about these characters and their lives, resonate and matter deeply to so many of our viewers,” said Lisa Hamilton Daly, executive vice president or programming at Hallmark Media. “Reaching the 100-episode milestone is cause for celebration and is a testament to the heartwarming content we’re committed to bringing our viewers each week.”

  • Driver cited in accident that killed Treat Williams

Driver cited in accident that killed Treat Williams

The driver who killed Treat Williams in a June accident has been cited by state police. Ryan Koss, 35, of Dorset, Vermont, was cited with a charge of grossly negligent operation resulting in death.

According to a report from the Vermont State Police, on the afternoon of June 12 Koss turned left into the path of a motorcycle being driven by Treat Williams. The actor was treated at the scene and then airlifted to an Albany medical center.

The New York Medical Examiner’s Office gave the cause of death as severe trauma and blood loss due to the accident.

    Treat Williams

Treat Williams made his film debut in 1975’s Deadly Hero. He appeared in the movies The Ritz and The Eagle Has Landed before landing the role of George Berger in the screen adaptation of the musical Hair. He was nominated for a Golden Globe for his performance. He received another Golden Globe nomination for his performance in the 1981 movie Prince of the City.

From 2016 to 2022, Williams starred as Mick O’Brien in the hit Hallmark series Chesapeake Shores, alongside Meghan Ory, Barbara Niven, and Dianne Ladd. He also had lead roles in the Hallmark movies The Christmas House and The Christmas House 2: Deck Those Halls.

    Vermont home

When he wasn’t filming, the actor lived with his family in Vermont. In a 2020 interview with Southern Living magazine, the actor talked about how his home life resembled the lives of the characters he played for Hallmark. For example, he and his children would cut down their own Christmas tree every year.

“We go to a little, wonderful, vegetable market stand,” he said. “And then my son and I, we put it up. All the decorations come out into the living room, a bottle of wine gets set down on the table and we always put on the exact same album. It’s Frank Sinatra’s Jolly Christmas.”

According to a report from the Vermont State Police, a Honda SUV was turning left into a parking lot when it collided with Williams’ motorcycle in the town of Dorset.

“Williams was unable to avoid a collision and was thrown from his motorcycle. He suffered critical injuries and was airlifted to Albany Medical Center in Albany, New York, where he was pronounced dead,” according to the statement.

Williams was wearing a helmet, police said.

    Citation

On Tuesday, Aug. 1, 2023, the prosecutor’s office requested that the Vermont State Police issue a citation on a charge of grossly negligent operation with death resulting to Ryan Koss, 35, of Dorset, who was driving the Honda Element SUV that turned into the path of Mr. Williams’ motorcycle.

According to a post on the police’s website, “The Vermont State Police contacted Mr. Koss on Tuesday evening. He is due to appear for arraignment at 8:15 a.m. Sept. 25, 2023, in the Criminal Division of Vermont Superior Court in Bennington.”

Summer sweethearts are reunited in new Hallmark movie set in the Outer Banks

Holland Roden and Corey Cott get a second chance at summer love in the new Hallmark movie Making Waves. The movie, which takes place on the Outer Banks of North Carolina, will premiere as part of Hallmark’s Summer Nights lineup.

“Love is in the air and music fills their hearts,” reads a Hallmark Instagram post promoting the movie. “Join Amelia @hollandroden and Will @NapOnACott on their magical journey in #MakingWaves.”

    New Hallmark movie

In the film, Holland Roden plays a music executive named Amelia. When she gets a tip that an elusive band will be playing at a North Carolina festival, she heads there hoping to beat out the competition and sign the group with her label.

But when she arrives, she is shocked to find out that she knows the lead singer, Will (played by Corey Cott). It turns out that they had a summer romance years before.

While putting aside her personal feelings, Amelia focuses on getting Will to sign with her label. But it soon becomes clear that her feelings are getting in the way of her mission.

    About the cast

Holland Roden got her start on the MTV drama Teen Wolf. From 2011 to 2017, she starred as Lydia Martin in the series. She went on to have roles in Lore, MacGyver, and Mayans MC.

In 2022, she starred in the Hallmark movie Time For Hime to Come Home For Christmas alongside Tyler Hynes.

In an interview to promote that movie, Roden talked about how exciting it was to be joining the Hallmark family.

“So I’m excited to be hopefully welcomed into another family and just feel that warmth because there’s not, all shows do have that warmth, and not all networks have that warmth, so it’s a rarity to experience it once, let alone twice,” she told TV Fanatic. “So I’m just nervous and excited to see how that reception will go. But it should be fun.”

Corey Cott studied at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, Penn. He has appeared on Broadway, playing Donny in Bandstand and Tony in West Side Story.

He has appeared on the TV shows Madam Secretary, Law and Order, Law and Order: SVU, The Equalizer, and Chicago Med. In 2022, he co-starred with Stacey Farber in the Hallmark movie Butlers in Love.

Making Waves will premiere on Hallmark Channel on Saturday, August 5 at 8/7c.

  • Holly Robinson Peete reflects on 25 years of autism advocacy

Holly Robinson Peete reflects on 25 years of autism advocacy

It’s been 25 years since actress and singer Holly Robinson Peete and her husband, former NFL player Rodney Peete, launched the HollyRod Foundation. In a star-studded Los Angeles evening, the Robinson Peete family celebrated the anniversary with friends and fellow advocates.

“All family business mode activated,” Robinson Peete wrote in an Instagram post the day of the event. “@hollyrodfdn is 25!!…Still processing EVERYTHING. It’s gonna take me a minute…The love. The sacrifice. The energy. The PHILANTHROPY….#fundraiser #autism #parkinsonsdisease #legacy #givingback”

    The HollyRod Foundation

The Peetes founded their advocacy group in 1997, shortly after Holly’s father was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease. When their son was diagnosed with autism a few years later, they broadened the focus of the organization to include programs for people with autism and their families.

The HollyRod Foundation is dedicated to raising awareness and providing resources to families that have a loved one who has received an autism or Parkinson’s Disease diagnosis. According to the organization’s website, “We advocate for ethical treatment, inclusion and access to services and treatment of individuals living with autism or Parkinson’s Disease with the goal of empowering them to live their best lives.”

During their annual DesignCare gala, they honored Nicole Ari Parker and Boris Kodjoe in an evening that featured the designs of Sergio Hudson.

    The Peete family

Holly Robinson Peete made her first appearance on television at the age of 6, when she shared the screen with her father, Michael Robinson, the original Gordon on Sesame Street. She went on to star in shows such as 21 Jump Street and Hangin With Mr. Cooper.

In 1995, she married NFL quarterback Rodney Peete. The couple welcomed twins in 1997, daughter Ryan Elizabeth Peete and son Rodney Peete Jr. Their son Robinson Peete was born in 2022. Roman Peete arrived in 2005.

    Reflections

In a recent interview with PopSugar, Robinson Peete recalled the first time she noticed that her son, RJ, was exhibiting atypical behavior.

“I started noticing that RJ, my son, was not playing alongside his sister right. I’m like, ‘Well maybe he just doesn’t want to be with her,’” she said. “But he was not doing parallel play; he was playing alone. He was looking at things, and turning lights on and off, and lining up his Thomas the Tank Engine trains and staring at the wheels. There were lots of signs, but I was just a rookie mom, so I didn’t know.”

Her pediatrician told her not to worry, but the differences became even more apparent when RJ started preschool. When he was finally given a formal diagnosis, Robinson Peete was given a list of things RJ would never be able to do.

“We were told he would never drive, never have meaningful employment,” she said. “And he just left in his car to go to Dodgers Stadium, where he works. For me now, watching him soar, watching him thrive, seeing him have friends, watching him have a whole baseball team who cares about him, watching him have purpose — it’s the greatest gift.”

  • A Chesapeake Shores movie could be in the works

A Chesapeake Shores movie could be in the works

The writer behind one of Hallmark’s most popular TV series says that a Chesapeake Shores movie could be in the works. In a recent interview, author Sherryl Woods said she was disappointed when the show ended and that she and one of the show’s executive producers have spoken about bringing it back in a new form.

“That was my first TV baby, so I wanted more, too,” Woods told Parade. “And we were hopeful that we would be able to do some more but it didn’t happen. It’s very sad.”

    Chesapeake Shores movie

Chesapeake Shores premiered on Hallmark Channel in 2016. Based on a series of books by Sherryl Woods, the show followed a single mother (Meghan Ory), who returns to her small coastal hometown following a divorce. She is immediately thrown back into the drama of her large family and reconnects with ex-boyfriend Trace Riley, who was played by Jesse Metcalfe.

The show also starred Dianne Ladd as the family’s formidable matriarch, Nell O’Brien, and Barbara Niven and Treat Williams as Abby’s parents. Brendan Penny, Emilie Ullerup, Laci Mailey, Jessica Sipos, and Andrew Francis also starred in the show.

Hallmark canceled the season after six seasons, airing the final episode in October 2022. Some even started a petition to get another network to pick up the series.

    Sherryl Woods

Author Sherryl Woods recently gave an interview about Sweet Magnolias, another TV series based on her books. She said that she and Dan Paulson, one of the executive producers for Chesapeake Shores, have spoken about reviving the show.

“[We] continued to talk about whether there was someplace else or something else we could do with Chesapeake Shores, whether it was a few movies here and there, or trying to do something with the series,” she said.

    Treat Williams

One obstacle to reviving the series is the fact that one of its stars, Treat Williams, recently passed away. The actor, who starred in the Broadway production of Grease and the movie version of Hair, was killed when he was riding his motorcycle in the small Vermont town where he lived with his wife.

Many of his Hallmark co-stars shared tributes to Williams on social media, sharing memories of working with the actor.

In her interview, Woods talked about how much the actor meant to her.

“He was just a genuinely nice guy,” Woods said. “He would, out of the blue, call up about something or other. I think the last time I had spoken to him in any depth was when he called on my birthday last year and we caught up. He meant a lot to me. It meant a lot to me to be able to have somebody like him in that show…losing Treat was a huge blow for all of us.”

  • Everything you need to know about the Season 10 premiere of When Calls the Heart

Everything you need to know about the Season 10 premiere of When Calls the Heart

Hearties, the Season 10 premiere of When Calls the Heart is finally here. More than a year after the premiere of Season 9, Hallmark will air new episodes of its longest-running original series.

“In just four days, follow your hearts back to Hope Valley!” read a post on Hallmark Channel’s Facebook page below a poster for Season 10.

    Season 10 premiere

When Calls the Heart typically premieres in February or March. But Hallmark pushed back the Season 10 start date in order to promote two new shows, The Way Home and Ride. (The Way Home, which stars Andie MacDowell, has already been approved for a second season. As of publication, Hallmark had not yet commented publicly about another season of Ride.)

To soften the blow, Hallmark announced that it had already signed off on Season 11. The cast and crew began filming on July 17 on the Jamestown set in British Columbia. American cast members who are part of SAG-AFTRA — the union that has been on strike since July 14 — have been granted a waiver to work while the strike continues.

    What’s up in Hope Valley?

“First, the coal mine was destroyed,” she says. “Then the oil wells dried up. And then we lost the foundry, and with it, the promise of new jobs. But in true Hope Valley fashion, Florence, Molly, and Minnie started a swap meet so that nothing would go to waste.”

“Rosemary insisted that Lee hire everyone he could from the oil company and wouldn’t let anything stop her from lending a hand, even though she’s just a few weeks from giving birth. We’ve all rolled up our sleeves, relying on generosity and kindness and neighbors helping neighbors. Everyone has dedicated themselves to doing their part and having fun while they do it.”

But Hallmark has revealed that in the first episode of the season, the children discover a set of hot springs in the woods near the town. Immediately, there is talk of turning them into a tourist destination to bring in some money.

    Baby talk

One storyline that has fans buzzing is Rosemary’s pregnancy. Hearties were thrilled when Rosemary (Pascale Hutton) and Lee (Kavan Smith) discovered at the end of Season 9 that they were expecting. Hutton shared photos of Rosemary’s baby bump on social media earlier in the year, prompting some fans to speculate that Rosemary might be having twins.

    The wedding

Another storyline that has fans buzzing is the upcoming wedding between Elizabeth and Lucas (Chris McNally). In a recent interview, Krakow revealed that wedding planning will be in full swing.

“There’s cake tasting and invitations and you know, talk of dress designs…all the good stuff,” she said in an interview with ET.

    Romance for Nathan

Hearties will also get to see if Nathan (Kevin McGarry) finds true love. In an interview before the premiere of Season 9, McGarry hinted that romance is in his future.

Fans have been left to figure out which of Hope Valley’s eligible ladies he will end up with. Though sparks flew when Mei Suo (Amanda Wong) rode into town, he also had a few moments with Dr. Faith Carter (Andrea Brooks). A trailer for the upcoming season shows Brooks falling into McGarry’s arms.

When Calls the Heart will premiere on Hallmark Channel on Sunday, July 30 at 9/8c.

  • New Hallmark movie showcases the beauty of Hawaii

New Hallmark movie showcases the beauty of Hawaii

Taylor Cole plays an aspiring conservationist who finds love in Hawaii in the new Hallmark movie Aloha Heart. The romantic comedy is one of four new films to debut during July.

Hallmark Channel shared a photo of Cole and her co-star, Kanoa Goo, on Instagram.

“Sarah @taylorquinncole and Manu @kanoagooz share a common love: Earth – but will that be their only shared love? Find out in #AlohaHeart,” read the caption.

    New Hallmark movie

In Aloha Heart, Cole plays Sara Hamilton, who travels to Hawaii to be the maid of honor in her best friend’s wedding. Though she is happy for her friend, Sara has a lot on her mind. Her attempts to break into the world of conservation have been unsuccessful and she is thinking of giving up.

She meets Manu (played by Kanoa Goo), whose family owns the hotel. Manu is also a conservationist and he is having trouble convincing his family to make changes to the hotel that would make it more environmentally friendly.

Sara begins making suggestions, which at first Manu finds irritating. Eventually they begin to work together and find that they have feelings for each other.

The movie was filmed in Honolulu, Waimanalo, and Makapu’u in Oahu, Hawaii. The Kahala Resort and Hotel serves as the backdrop for the family resort. The luxury hotel was also featured in the Hallmark movie You Had Me at Aloha, which starred When Calls the Heart’s Pascale Hutton and Kavan Smith.

    About the cast

Taylor Cole is a native of Texas. After working as a model, she landed a role in the TV series Summerland. She has appeared in the shows CSI: Miami, Two And A Half Men, The Glades, Supernatural, and The Originals. She made her Hallmark debut in the 2016 movie Appetite for Love. She has since starred in the Hallmark movies My Summer Prince, Christmas Festival of Love (2017), One Winter Weekend (2018), One Winter Proposal (2019), Unlocking Christmas (2020), One Winter Wedding (2021), South Beach Love (2021), Making Spirits Bright (2021), Pumpkin Everything (2022), and Long Lost Christmas (2022).

Kanoa Goo is an NYU graduate who was born and raised in Hawai’i. He began doing commercials as a child and has appeared in the TV shows Hawaii Five-O, The Donors, Henry Danger, NCIS: Hawai’i, City on a Hill, The Rookie, and Fire Country.

In a recent interview, he said he hit it off with Taylor Cole immediately.

“She is one of the kindest, most loving people and actresses I’ve ever worked with, and made me feel completely at ease,” he told Just Jared. “We actually became really close friends right away, and we just approach working in a similar way. So I really looked forward to working with her day after day.”

  • Cast of popular Hallmark show gets a waiver from SAG-AFTRA to film next season

Cast of popular Hallmark show gets a waiver from SAG-AFTRA to film next season

The cast of Hallmark’s longest-running original series can go back to work. The actors have been granted a waiver from a current union strike that has brought most filming in the U.S. to a standstill.

Brian Bird, who co-created When Calls the Heart, shared the news on social media.

“Season 11 of When Calls the Heart is approved by SAG to continue production in the same week as Season 10 Premieres!” he wrote on Facebook. “We are very grateful to all the folks at SAG/AFTRA for saying YES! to filming Season 11!”

    Waiver from SAG-AFTRA

All 160,000 members of the Screen Actors Guild and the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists have been on strike since July 14, after negotiations stalled with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers. They joined members of the Writers Guild of America, who have been on strike since May after failing to reach an agreement with the AMPTP over working conditions and pay.

Among the complaints brought by union leaders are the shorter duration of television shooting schedules, which means longer periods of time actors go without steady pay, and smaller residuals — amounts paid to actors each time a movie or show is aired. According to representatives of SAG-AFTRA and the WGA, residuals have taken a hit with the advent of streaming services such as Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon Prime.

But the union has begun to grant waivers to some of its members to work on projects that have no direct ties to the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers.

According to Deadline, When Calls the Heart is one of several projects to get such an exemption. Others include the Bible-based series The Chosen, the movies Mother Mary and I Dream of Unicorns, and Apple TV+’s Tehran.

    Season 11

Work began on Season 11 of When Calls the Heart on July 17. The majority of the cast and crew are members of Canadian unions, which have not gone on strike. But questions arose as to how American cast members, including series lead Erin Krakow, would be able to film during the strike.

Brian Bird, who has been the show’s most vocal cheerleader, said the SAG-AFTRA waiver has brought those worries to an end.

“For ten seasons, our fictional town of Hope Valley has always been a place of second chances, where all citizens are treated with grace, fairness and respect,” he wrote on Facebook. “We pray for nothing but fairness and respect in the negotiations between the studios, networks, writers and actors. On all sides. Everybody can and should win.”

Season 10 of When Calls the Heart will premiere on Sunday, July 30 at 9/8c.

  • Ansley Gordon headlines new cozy mystery on Great American Family

Ansley Gordon headlines new cozy mystery on Great American Family

Great American Family will premiere a faith-based cozy mystery starring Ansley Gordon. The Abby Brooks Mysteries will debut at the same time as Season 10 of When Calls the Heart on Hallmark Channel. The film will then be available to stream the following day on Pure Flix.

In a recent interview, Gordon — who also wrote the film — said she found inspiration for the new movie in the Nancy Drew series, as well as Hulu’s Only Murders in the Building.

    New mystery

In the Abby Brooks Mysteries, Gordon stars as a true-crime podcaster and former journalist reeling from the loss of her child and her recent divorce. When her free-spirited neighbor is found dead, Brooks becomes convinced foul play is involved.

She works with the local police in Prescott, Ariz., to solve the crime, using clues from Bible verses.

“I pulled inspiration from Nancy Drew and from the characters of Only Murders in the Building,” Gordon said in a statement to CBN’s Faithwire. “I knew I wanted to create an ensemble cast that felt like a family and I wanted the world to feel really inclusive, that you would want to be a part of the town of Prescott.”

    Great American Media

Great American Family is one of two networks owned by Great American Media, a company founded by former Hallmark CEO Bill Abbott. In an interview with USA Today, Abbott said he hoped to challenge Hallmark Media as the leading producer of family-friendly entertainment on television.

“We believe we’ll be the leader in quality family entertainment in this space,” Abbott said. “…That’s a lofty and challenging objective. But we think we have the team in place to do it and the experience to do it.”

In May of 2023, the company announced it had merged with Pure Flix, a streaming division of Sony Pictures dedicated to family-friendly entertainment.

    The cozy mystery business

Great American Family hit the ground running, producing original movies starring Trevor Donovan, Jessica Lowndes, Jesse Metcalfe, Merritt Patterson, and Daniel Lissing.

But the Abby Brooks Mysteries is the network’s first foray into the world of cozy mysteries. Hallmark Movies and Mysteries typically premieres at least one new mystery or drama every month, and even more during its Miracles of Christmas programming lineup every year.

    About the cast

Ansley Gordon is well known for writing and starring in uplifting movies. She has appeared in Baked With a Kiss (2022), The Boyfriend Trap (2022), Love on the Reef (2023), and Love on Retreat (2023).

She will be joined in the Abby Brooks Mysteries by Bret Green, an Emmy Award-nominated actor, and Karen Abercrombie.

The Abby Brooks Mysteries will premiere on Great American Family on Sunday, July 30 at 9/8c.

  • Hallmark shares a sneak peek at new Christmas movie sequel

Hallmark shares a sneak peek at new Christmas movie sequel

Hallmark will share a sneak peek at new Christmas movie sequel over the weekend. As part of the Christmas in July lineup, the network will air Haul Out the Holly. The 2022 hit, which stars Lacey Chabert and Wes Brown, will get a sequel during the 2023 Countdown to Christmas programming event called Haul Out the Holly: Lit Up.

Hallmark made the announcement on Instagram.

“Relive the magic of #HaulOutTheHolly on July 22 at 8/7c as part of #ChristmasInJuly!” read the caption.

    Christmas movie sequel

Haul Out the Holly premiered to rave fan reviews in 2022. In the movie, Lacey Chabert stars as Emily, a woman who returns home during the holidays after a bad breakup with plans to just relax. But when she arrives, she finds out her parents (played by Carrie Morgan and Peter Jacobson) have plans to go out of town. Just when Emily resigns herself to binge-watching Christmas movies on her own for the week, she finds out she is expected to take her parents’ place in the neighborhood’s holiday festivities.

Wes Brown co-stars as her old friend who is now running the HOA in charge of the Christmas events. When she doesn’t share his enthusiasm for the holidays, he issues her parents an HOA citation.

To work off the penalty, Emily gets involved and finds herself competing with the neighbors, played by Ellen Travolta, Melissa Peterman, and Stephen Tobolowsky.

Haul Out the Holly: Lit Up

“‘Haul out the Holly’ was an unqualified success and became an instant holiday classic. Viewers immediately responded to the movie’s warmth and this incredibly funny cast,” said Samantha DiPippo, senior vice president of development for Hallmark Media. “We cannot wait to take viewers back to Evergreen Lane with a sequel that is bigger, funnier, and jollier than before.”

In the sequel, Emily (Chabert) and Jared (Brown) are looking forward to celebrating the holidays together as a couple. Emily, now embracing Evergreen Lane’s uniquely festive spirit, is ready to work with Jared, Ned (Tobolowsky), Mary Louise (Travolta), and Pamela (Peterman) to make this year’s Christmas celebrations the best yet – even if being the HOA president’s girlfriend doesn’t stop those dreaded decorating citations.

When a house on the block goes up for sale, it causes quite a stir among the residents. When the soon-to-be neighbors turn out to be holiday royalty, it looks like this year’s competition is about to heat up.

Hallmark has not yet given a release date for Haul Out the Holly: Lit Up. A preview will air during an encore presentation of Haul Out the Holly on Hallmark Channel on Saturday, July 22 at 8/7c.

Penny said he wants to make a sequel to the Wedding Cottage because he had so much fun with Erin Krakow.

“I hope it could have 10 films out of it so I could work with Erin again,” Penny said in an interview with Just Jared.

    Hallmark star Brendan Penny

Penny and Krakow delighted fans of Chesapeake Shores and When Calls the Heart when they collaborated on the romantic comedy The Wedding Cottage, which premiered on Hallmark in April 2023.

In the movie, Krakow plays Vanessa, a wedding planner who promotes her new book by holding a contest to give one lucky couple an all-expenses paid wedding.

The winning couple, played by Drew Henderson and Matreya Scarrwener, are in a hurry to tie the knot, as he is about to get deployed. Vanessa finds out that the bride and groom want to get married at a house in the town of Stony Brook, Vermont, known as the Wedding Cottage. She contacts the home’s new owner, a reclusive sculptor named Evan (played by Penny).

He is reluctant to let his house be used as a venue, but Vanessa’s persistence wears him down. As they prepare for the big day, Vanessa and Evan find out that the cottage is a special place for the people of Stony Brook. They also begin to develop feelings for each other.

    A sequel? A series?

In a recent interview, Penny said he already had some ideas for a sequel.

“They could make a second movie out of it for sure,” he said. “Where we have our wedding at the Wedding Cottage, you know, and the hijinks that are involved with that.”

Andrea Brooks and Patch May reunite in new Hallmark movie A Lifelong Love

Andrea Brooks and Patch May play struggling artists who put their careers on hold to help her grandfather track down his first girlfriend in the new Hallmark movie A Lifelong Love. The actors co-starred in the 2022 film The Wedding Fix.

“I’m teaming up with @pinkflamingoboogie again for another romcom!” Andrea Brooks wrote in an Instagram post promoting the movie.

    New Hallmark movie

In the new Hallmark movie A Lifelong Long, Brooks plays Annika, a struggling poet. When her latest collection of poems is rejected by publishers, she turns her attention to helping her grandfather track down his first love.

She teams up with her ex-boyfriend Ryan (played by Patch May), who is trying to make a career in photography. But when the search takes Annika out of her comfort zone, she realizes she might need to change her ways if she wants to have the life — and love — she has always dreamed of.

A Lifelong Love is one of four new Hallmark movies to premiere during July, and the only new film to debut on Hallmark Movies and Mysteries.

    Andrea Brooks

On Instagram, Andrea Brooks promoted the movie while also sharing photos from a costume fitting for Season 11 of When Calls the Heart.

“Our yearly fitting photo op continues. Let’s go 11!! #hearties,” she wrote in the caption.

Though a union strike has brought filming in the U.S. to a standstill, Hallmark’s longest-running original series is filmed in Canada. The show’s co-creator recently shared on Facebook with fans that they will do their best to both honor and work around the SAG-AFTRA strike.

“On Monday, July 17, the production of Season 11 BEGINS with all of our fine Canadian writers and cast- and-crew-members back to work while we wait for a peaceful resolution of these labor talks,” Bird wrote. “And for the day our US writers and actors are allowed to return. And when you experience Season 11 in 2024, through the seamless magic of the filmmaking and storytelling process, it will make it seem like they were there all along.”

A Lifelong Love will premiere on Hallmark Movies and Mysteries on Friday, July 21 at 9/8c.

  • How will actors’ strike affect Hallmark?

How will actors’ strike affect Hallmark?

The actors’ strike that has made headlines around the world could spell trouble for Hallmark fans. Now that filming has been brought to a halt across the country, it could mean a delay in new movies and TV shows being produced by all networks.

Several Hallmark stars have already spoken out on social media in support of SAG-AFTRA, a union that represents 160,000 actors across the country.

“Our resolve has never been stronger, and together we have an enormous power to effect change in the industry,” wrote Kristoffer Polaha in an Instagram post. “One day longer, one day stronger!”

Paul Greene also shared a message on Instagram.

“Always so many wild feelings, perspectives and ideas when this happens,” he wrote. “Praying for a swift solution and bright future in a craft I love….”

    The strike

Representatives for SAG-AFTRA have been in negotiations with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers over working conditions and pay.

Among the complaints brought by union members are the shorter duration of television shooting schedules, which means longer periods of time actors go without steady pay, and smaller residuals — amounts paid to actors each time a movie or show is aired.

Union leaders say residuals have taken a hit with the advent of streaming services such as Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon Prime.

Members of the Writers Guild of America have been on strike for two months over similar issues. This is the first time since 1960 that SAG-AFTRA and the WGA have been on strike at the same time.

    What happens at Hallmark?

Hallmark stars have already been affected. Catherine Bell, Brennan Elliott, Jen Lilley, and Rachel Boston had to pull out of a fan convention in June over scheduling conflicts, when production was moved forward on several movies in anticipation of a SAG-AFTRA strike.

But many Hallmark films and shows are filmed in Canada. Supporting roles are often filled by members of the Alliance of Canadian Cinema, Television and Radio Artists. Thought the Canadian union has expressed solidarity with SAG-AFTRA and the WGA, ACTRA has not yet voted to go on strike.

This could make it possible for Hallmark Media to continue filming movies despite stalled negotiations in the U.S.

    Countdown to Christmas

Many movies for Hallmark’s Countdown to Christmas event are already in the bag. Filming for the 2023 lineup began in January, and 18 movies have been made so far.

But since Hallmark Channel and Hallmark Movies and Mysteries routinely turn out dozens of holiday movies each year, it remains to be seen if the overall lineup of new movies will be slim this year.

    When Calls the Heart

The good news for When Calls the Heart fans is that Season 10 is complete. The first episode will premiere on July 30.

Brian Bird, the show’s co-creator, says a number of arrangements have been made so that filming on Season 11 can begin on July 17 as planned.

As of publication, Hallmark had not yet commented on the strike. This is an ongoing story. We will update it as more information becomes available.

A Christmas wish changes everything in new Hallmark movie Take Me Back For Christmas

The new Hallmark movie Take Me Back For Christmas will premiere as part of the network’s Christmas in July lineup. The film stars Vanessa Lengies and Corey Sevier.

“A dash of love, a pinch of fate, and a sprinkle of second chances,” read an Instagram post on Hallmark Channel’s page. “#TakeMeBackForChristmas serves up a heartwarming tale of rediscovery and the flavors of the holiday season.”

    New Hallmark movie

In Take Me Back For Christmas, Lengies plays Renée, a woman who has always dreamed of starting her own business. After putting her dreams on hold to take care of her mother, Renée is feeling unfulfilled in her dead-end job at a small gift shop.

At the end of a particularly difficult day, Renée is asked by a Christmas display elf if she wants to make a wish. Although she is skeptical, her exasperation gets the best of her, and she wishes for a different life. To her surprise, she wakes up in a New York City high-rise and discovers she is the CEO of one of the most successful meal-kit delivery companies in the world.

But her excitement turns to distress when she finds out that in this life, she is no longer married to her husband, Aaron.

Determined to get him back, she hires Aaron, now a successful chef, to develop a Christmas dinner meal kit for the city’s food banks. With her new plan in place, she and Aaron begin to fall in love all over again, bringing her one step closer to “having it all.” But as complications arise in this new reality and the clock ticks closer to Christmas Eve, Renée is forced to ask herself if going back is the key to moving forward in life and love.

    About the cast

Vanessa Lengies got her start as a child actress, performing on shows such as Caillou and 8 Simple Rules. After roles in the movies Stick It, The Substance of Things Hoped For, and The Perfect Man, she landed the role of Sugar Motta on the series Glee. She made her Hallmark debut in the 2019 movie Heart of the Holidays. In 2022, she co-starred with Jesse Hutch in the Christmas in July movie Christmas in Toyland.

Corey Sevier first appeared on a screen when he was six months old. Over the years, he has made more than 30 films and had parts in the TV shows Cedar Cove, CSI: Miami, Heartland, Smallville, and Supernatural. He co-starred with Natalie Hall in the 2022 Countdown to Christmas movie Noel Next Door. He also appeared in the 2022 Hallmark movies Road Trip Romance and Pumpkin Everything.

Take Me Back For Christmas will premiere on Hallmark Channel on Saturday, July 15 at 8/7c.

  • Erin Krakow promises romance and ‘jaw-dropping’ drama in Season 10 of When Calls the Heart

Erin Krakow promises romance and ‘jaw-dropping’ drama in Season 10 of When Calls the Heart

In a recent interview, Erin Krakow said Hearties can expect jaw-dropping moments in Season 10 of When Calls the Heart.

“Season 10 is packed,” Krakow said during an interview with ET’s Deidre Behar. “We are truly leveling up the When Calls the Heart experience.”

When Calls the Heart Season 10

Season 10 of Hallmark’s longest-running original series will premiere on July 30. Fans have been waiting more than a year for new episodes of the show. When Calls the Heart typically premieres in February or March, but Hallmark put the series on the back burner while promoting two other new series, The Way Home and Ride.

As a consolation, the network announced that Season 11 of the series will begin filming this summer.

    ‘There will be some jaw-dropping’

Krakow, who stars as Elizabeth Thornton on the series, recently sat down with ET to talk about what Hearties can expect when When Calls the Heart premieres.

“There’s something for everyone,” Krakow said. “There will be some jaw-dropping.”

When Behar pressed her for details, Krakow responded that there will be some life-or-death moments.

“Spoiler alert: we don’t lose anybody,” she said. “…But it gets a little dicey for a second.”

    Romance and wedding plans

The star also teased some romance coming up in Season 10. A trailer released by Hallmark Channel shows Dr. Faith Carter (Andrea Brooks) falling into the arms of Nathan Grant (Kevin McGarry).

Krakow also talked about Elizabeth and Lucas (Chris McNally) planning their wedding.

“There’s cake tasting and invitations and you know, talk of dress designs…all the good stuff,” she said.

    Children

Rosemary and Lee will become parents in this season, and Krakow talked about how Rosemary has a little bit of anxiety about what kind of mother she will be.

Krakow also spoke about Jack (Hyland Goodrich) growing up a little more in Season 10.

“Little Jack has all these questions now about his father and that’s a new challenge for Elizabeth,” she said.

    Guest stars and music

Krakow also spoke about some exciting guest appearances this season.

“We’re bringing in lots of exciting guest stars,” Krakow said. “…We don’t know if they’re good guys or bad guys.”

There will also be some music in Season 10.

“We have musical episodes…not a true musical but there’s music,” she said.

Season 10 of When Calls the Heart will premiere on Hallmark Channel on Sunday, July 30 at 9/8c.

  • Have a library card? You may be able to watch Hallmark for free

Have a library card? You may be able to watch Hallmark for free

A partnership between Hallmark Movies Now and a popular library app will allow patrons to watch Hallmark for free. Hoopla Digital recently announced the launch of BingePass, a feature that allows users to access content from a premium collection. One of these collections includes the material available on Hallmark Movies Now, Hallmark’s streaming service.

This means Hallmark fans can watch every season of When Calls the Heart and Chesapeake Shores as well as more than 450 movies, all for free.

    Hallmark for free

Hoopla Digital is an all-in-one app for public libraries that allows users to access books, magazines, comic books, movies, TV shows, and documentaries.

In a statement to PR Newswire, the company’s founder explained why they chose to partner with Hallmark.

“Our goal at hoopla is to provide the best content available to libraries and their patrons,” Jeff Jankowski said. “We pursued this partnership with Hallmark Movies Now to give access to this celebrated range of movies, specials and original series. As the needs of libraries evolve, we are too, to ensure the way library patrons consume content on hoopla meets demand. When we launched BingePass, we pledged to continue adding more diverse content and this new agreement with Hallmark Movies Now adds a beloved entertainment brand that is a natural for bingeing.”

    New material

Hallmark Movies Now will add more than 450 movies to the platform this year alone, meaning BingePass users can watch Christmas films, romantic comedies, cozy mysteries, and TV series. All nine seasons of When Calls the Heart will be available, as well as all six seasons of Chesapeake Shores. The first seasons of Ride and The Way Home — new shows launched by Hallmark earlier this year — will also be available to stream.

As the cost of cable packages continues to rise, some Hallmark fans have subscribed to streaming services such as Hallmark Movies Now, Frndly TV, and Peacock to access their favorite content. Though these services are all cheaper than cable (FrndlyTV starts at $6.99 per month, for example), they are not free.

With BingePass, Hoopla users can access Hallmark content at no cost.

To see if Hoopla is available where you live, check with your local library.

  • A sequel, a series, and a film set in Scotland: Everything we know so far about Hallmark’s Christmas lineup

A sequel, a series, and a film set in Scotland: Everything we know so far about Hallmark’s Christmas lineup

Summer may be in full swing but Hallmark Media has already started stockpiling material for its 2023 Christmas lineup.

Brennan Elliott, Lacey Chabert, Kevin McGarry, Tyler Hynes, Janel Parrish, and Erica Durance are among the stars who have filmed movies for the upcoming holiday season. Hallmark will also release an 8-episode series about Christmas starring Erin Cahill.

Here’s everything we know so far:

    Haul Out the Holly Sequel

Lacey Chabert and Wes Brown are making a sequel to their successful 2022 Countdown to Christmas movie Haul Out the Holly. In the original, Chabert and Brown played childhood neighbors who are reunited when he is head of the neighborhood’s holiday decorating committee and she is a reluctant participant in the local festivities.

    Marcus Rosner

Hallmark star Marcus Rosner will star in two Countdown to Christmas movies for Hallmark this year (that we know of so far). The films are titled Christmas in Maple Hills and Coupled Up for Christmas.

Another Hallmark veteran who will work on two movies for the company is Ali Liebert. The actress and director, who starred in the 2017 Countdown to Christmas movie A Gift to Remember, will direct Christmas in Notting Hill, a rom-com starring Sarah Ramos. Though the movie is set in London, it was filmed in part in Dublin.

Liebert posted a photo on Instagram from her stay in Ireland.

“when in Ireland… 🏰 beautiful stay at @kilkeacastle,” she wrote in the caption.

Liebert will also direct Time for Her to Come Home for Christmas, the sixth in a series of films based on a song written by Blake Shelton and his mother, Dorothy Shackleford. Shelton and his mother recorded “Time For to Come Home” in 2012. Dorothy Shackleford then wrote a novel with the same title.

Other movies in the series include:

Time For Me to Come Home For Christmas
Time For You to Come Home For Christmas
Time For Them to Come Home For Christmas
Time For Us to Come Home For Christmas
Time For Him to Come Home For Christmas

    Cute couples

Tyler Hynes and Janel Parrish recently posted from the set of a movie for the 2023 Hallmark Christmas lineup. The movie, Never Been Chris’d, tells the story of lifelong friends best friends whose bond is tested when they’re reunited with their mutual high school crush.

When Calls the Heart’s Kevin McGarry and soap star Kim Matula will pair up in Christmas Goals, a hockey-themed movie.

Nikki DeLoach and Lucas Bryant recently finished filming A World Record Christmas. Hunter King and Benjamin Hollingsworth will star in The Santa Summit. The movie, which was filmed in Winnipeg, is about two strangers who are introduced by their friends during their hometown holiday celebration.

    Luke Macfarlane returns

Luke MacFarlane — who starred in the 2022 movie A Magical Christmas Village — told the Hollywood Reporter that he recently finished making a Christmas movie for Hallmark.

“Talk about learning on the job,” he said. “You gotta know what you’re doing when you show up because there is not a lot of time. We shoot them in 15 days, and they tend to overshoot so that they have their bases covered.”

There is no title available yet for the movie, which allegedly co-stars Ashley Williams.

    Great locations

Scott Wolfe and Lacey Chabert will star in A Merry Scottish Christmas, which is being filmed on location in Scotland. The actors, who played siblings for six seasons on the Fox series Party of Five, will once again play brother and sister.

Two movies for the 2023 Hallmark Christmas lineup were filmed in Connecticut. Mystic Christmas, which stars Patti Murin, was filmed at Mystic Aquarium and Olde Mystic Village.

The plot revolves around a marine veterinarian who takes a temporary job at Mystic Aquarium, only to run into an ex.

Lyndsey Fonseca and Michael Rady will star in a movie titled Where Are You Christmas. The movie was shot in New Haven, Connecticut.

Bethany Joy Lenz and Kristoffer Polaha wrapped on A Biltmore Christmas in January. The movie, which includes time travel in the storyline, was filmed at the Biltmore Estate in Asheville, NC.

    Christmas series

Hallmark will also premiere a series of movies about a group of families who live in a cul de sac in Oak Bay, Oregon.

The location manager for the series, called Holidazed, gave details of the series to the Lake Cowichan Gazette, where part of the series was filmed.

“The production will be in eight episodes in which the first one explores all of the families, followed by episodes focusing on each individual family, and it all comes together in the final episodes,” Hamilton said.

Countdown to Christmas and Miracles of Christmas programming will premiere in October.

  • Hallmark CEO explains why Mystery 101 was canceled

Hallmark CEO explains why Mystery 101 was canceled

The CEO of Hallmark Media recently explained why the company decided to cancel its popular Mystery 101 series. In an interview with The Sun, Wonya Lucas touched on why the hit series would not be making a comeback on Hallmark Movies and Mysteries.

    Mystery 101

Fans were disappointed when Hallmark broke the news on its Facebook page in April 2023 that the series was finished.

“We loved making ‘Mystery 101’ and we’re so glad you enjoyed sleuthing along with us,” wrote the page administrator in response to a fan comment. “We want to let you know that our talented sleuths have solved the last mystery and are off the case. In the coming weeks and months there are exciting new mysteries on the way that we know you’ll love!”

In a post on Twitter, Kristoffer Polaha wrote, “Well kids, looks like the cat’s out of the bag. #Mystery101 has solved its last mystery.”

He went on to thank the fans and his co-stars.

“You are the most incredibly supportive fans ever!” he wrote. “We LOVE you! @JillWagner @robinthomas101 & I had the most amazing time entertaining you by bringing Travis, Amy, & Graham to life.”

The series debuted in 2019 with Mystery 101. Six more titles followed:

    Mystery 101: Playing Dead (2019)
Mystery 101: Words Can Kill (2019)
    Mystery 101: Dead Talk (2019)
Mystery 101: An Education in Murder (2020)
    Mystery 101: Killer Timing (2020)
    Mystery 101: Deadly History (2020)

In the series, Jill Wagner starred as Amy Winslow, an English professor with a knack for solving crimes. Polaha played a detective named Travis Burke. The two solved several cases together before becoming romantically involved.

    Jill Wagner

In a March 2021 interview, Wagner talked about how much she adored Polaha, calling him “a great co-star.”

“…We get along really well, and I think more than anything, we have great on-screen chemistry,” she told TV Fanatic. “I think that’s really hard to find, and it’s not necessarily something you can always create just by casting two people, so I think Hallmark got really lucky with that.”

    Surprise ending

Fans were shocked when Amy and Travis broke up during the final movie, Mystery 101: Deadly History. As soon as they split, there was an 11-month time jump that showed Travis arriving at the crime scene of a murder with his partner. He sees Amy there and it’s her finance who is the victim in the case.

In a red-carpet interview with The Sun, Hallmark CEO Wonya Lucas talked about why the network would not revive the series.

“Well, we hadn’t done it in a long, long time, right? And we just brought the mysteries back. So, we’re just looking at mysteries a little differently now,” she said.

She added, “We’ve created some new mysteries, in addition to some that we’ve had in the past. So, it’s just an evolution of our mysteries. We’re just doing a lot of new things.”

  • New Murder, She Baked movie has fans asking if Mike and Hannah are getting back together

New Murder, She Baked movie has fans asking if Mike and Hannah are getting back together

Alison Sweeney, Barbara Niven, and Cameron Mathison are hard at work on a new Murder, She Baked movie. The stars have been posting from the set of A Zest for Death: A Hannah Swensen Mystery, which should be released this summer.

But fans have only one question: Will Mike and Hannah get back together?

    New Murder, She Baked

In a recent Instagram post, Alison Sweeney shared a behind-the-scenes look at the new movie.

“Here we go again!! Back on set filming another #HannahSwensen with my friend @cameronmathison !! #setlife,” she wrote.

“Sooo exciting!” wrote one fan in the comments section. “I hope it’s a good one and Hannah and Mike find each other again for good ok?”

Another fan added, “Seriously though! They need a happy ending!”

    The series

Hallmark has made seven movies in the Hannah Swensen series, which is also known as “Murder, She Baked.” Based on the cozy mystery books by Joanne Fluke, the movies include:

Murder, She Baked: A Chocolate Chip Cookie Mystery (2015)

Murder, She Baked: A Plum Pudding Mystery (2015)

Murder, She Baked: A Peach Cobbler Mystery (2016)

Murder, She Baked: A Deadly Recipe (2017)

Murder, She Baked: Just Desserts (2016)

Sweet Revenge: A Hannah Swensen Mystery (2021)

Carrot Cake Murder: A Hannah Swensen Mystery (2023)

    The breakup

In Carrot Cake Murder, Mike and Hannah broke up, much to the dismay of fans. Hannah began working on a cold case with Mike’s blessing. But as she uncovered more clues, Mike began relaying her discoveries to the police department. Though Hannah understands why he does it, she can’t help but feel betrayed.

“You have to give Mike credit that his instinct was to be in on it with Hannah and help her,” Sweeney said in an interview with TV Goodness. “It’s what he wanted to do, and it is a cold case. And so, she really thought that was the plan and then it would be no problem because the police, aren’t even able to investigate. It’s a dead end for them and the door was wide open for her.”

But Sweeney was quick to add that there is a path that Hannah and Mike can take that leads back to each other.

“I love developing stories where, as fun as it was for them to be together and they’re just crime-solving besties, this story of wanting to be together, of finding their way back to each other, and earning each other’s trust again, the tension and the romance and the grand gestures that they have to make to earn it back is, to be honest, my favorite part.”

She also added that the author of the series, Joanne Fluke, was very protective of the characters as well.

“I have to remind everyone that we are the keepers of someone else’s characters,” Sweeney said. “And Joanne cares very passionately about Hannah and everyone in Eden Lake. And these are the stories she tells.”

  • When Calls the Heart social media accounts shut down by disgruntled fans

When Calls the Heart social media accounts shut down by disgruntled fans

Hallmark Media is considering taking legal action against disgruntled fans who have managed to shut down several Instagram accounts dedicated to its popular series When Calls the Heart.

In a post shared on Brian Bird’s account, the show’s co-creator confirmed that accounts for the series have been suspended by Meta, the company that runs both Facebook and Instagram.

“The issue is complex, but we are aware that someone is targeting and reporting fan accounts for reasons we will not speculate on here,” read the message, which was signed “The Heartie Admin Team.”

    Social media accounts

Though Hallmark won’t comment on who is attacking the accounts or why, fans are saying it is the work of Hearties still upset over the death of character Jack Thornton (played by Australian actor Daniel Lissing).

Thornton was killed at the end of Season 6, shortly after his wedding to Elizabeth (Erin Krakow).

The next two seasons saw controversy as Elizabeth, who gave birth to Jack’s son after his death, was pursued by two different men. When she chose businessman Lucas Bouchard (Chris McNally) over Mountie Nathan Grant (Kevin McGarry), some Hearties were upset, claiming she made the wrong decision.

Why Jack fans are attacking social media accounts now, instead of say, immediately after he left the show, is unclear. Some fans have speculated that it is because Elizabeth and Lucas are expected to marry in Season 10.

“It’s been years since Jack’s been gone,” wrote one fan in the comments section of Bird’s post. “The actor who played him wanted out, and I guess they could’ve replaced him with another, but it was the writers’ choice to go in another direction. It’s just a TV program, for crying out loud! And goodness gracious! I can’t believe of all the pages on social media, Hearties are the least controversial/offensive fan base I’ve ever seen.”

    Suspended accounts

According to Instagram, accounts can be suspended for not meeting “community guidelines.” These include only posting photos appropriate for all age groups and not promoting hate, violence, or terrorism.

Anyone can lodge a complaint against an Instagram account. Meta administrators will sometimes suspend an account until they can investigate further. Though account holders can appeal the suspension, it can take time to get the issue resolved.

Some Hearties have speculated that the accounts were attacked so they would be offline in the lead-up to the premiere of Season 10, which is scheduled for July 30.

    Moving forward

A post by Star Watch Byline urged fans not to give up.

“If you know of any specific account names or own an account that is either a general #WCTH fan site or a #WCTH cast member fan site that has been removed by Instagram, please send us the name of the site so we can send a list to Hallmark Media legal to see if they can help recover the sites,” read a post. “They have been notified of the issue but would need account names if you wish them to be recovered.”

Brian Bird’s message also urged fans to remember that the When Calls the Heart community is strong.

“Especially in tough times, Hope Valley values teach us to come together in support of one another and the greater good. We will come together with our collective goodwill and sustained belief and delight in this show.”

  • Tributes continue to pour in for Treat Williams as new details emerge about his death

Tributes continue to pour in for Treat Williams as new details emerge about his death

Friends, neighbors, and co-stars continue to pay tribute to the late actor Treat Williams, who was killed in a motorcycle accident in Vermont on June 12.

New details are emerging about what happened during and immediately after the accident that took his life, including the fact that he was responsive and conscious when first responders arrived.

    Tributes

Barbara Niven shared a touching Instagram post featuring a photo of Williams and several other cast members from the series Chesapeake Shores.

“Treat lived large and savored every bit of life. He loved his craft and it was an honor to spend six years with him on Chesapeake Shores,” she wrote. “He truly was the patriarch of our family, both on and off the set. And he made it so much fun. He would suddenly break into a song from Grease or Hair as we were rehearsing a scene, and came in with horrible dad jokes every day to make the crew laugh. What an actor he was. I think he was this generation’s Spencer Tracy.”

“Thanks for always having my back, bud,” wrote Andrew Francis in a post on Instagram.

    Memorial service

A memorial service was held for the actor on June 19 in Vermont, where he lived with his wife of 35 years, Pam Van Sant. According to US Weekly, friends and family, including his adult children Gill, 31, and Ellie, 25, gathered in an intimate ceremony. Williams was buried on June 20.

According to reports from the Vermont State Police, Williams was critically injured when a motorcycle he was driving collided with a car at 4:53 p.m. on June 12 in the town of Dorset. Williams and his wife, Pam Van Sant, have a farm about seven miles from the small town.

Williams was airlifted to the Albany Medical Center in New York where he later died from his injuries.

    New details

According to a witness, Williams was alert and responding to questions immediately after the accident.

Local business owner Matt Rapphahn told reporters he saw the accident and called 911. When responders arrived, Williams was conscious.

“He was responsive to questions,” Rapphahn said. “I had my hopes pretty high that he was going to pull through.”

Police said a local man driving an SUV was turning left into an auto shop and crossed into the path of Williams, who was on his motorcycle. Williams was wearing a helmet. The driver of the SUV was not under the influence of drugs or alcohol, according to the police.

    Community in mourning

Members of the community where Williams and his wife live had kind words to say about the star.

“As a community, everybody is in shock. Even if they didn’t know him, they knew of Treat,” said Greg Cutler, the vice chair of the Manchester select board.

“He was just very easy to talk to,” Rapphahn said. “He was just like another guy, you know, and every experience I had with him was great. Just talk about movies, cars, motorcycles, music.”

  • Why Skyler Samuels didn’t seek advice from Candace Cameron Bure for her role in new Aurora Teagarden movie

Why Skyler Samuels didn’t seek advice from Candace Cameron Bure for her role in new Aurora Teagarden movie

For her new role as Aurora Teagarden, actress Skyler Samuels spent hours studying the Hallmark mysteries starring Candace Cameron Bure.

“I watched a bunch of the original ones and just really studied Aurora and her world and tried to hone in on her traits and characteristics that really made her her,” Samuels said in an interview with TV Insider. “Then from there, I just reverse-engineered who I imagined she might have been when she was in her early to mid-20s, and that’s really where the fun of inventing the younger Aurora came from.”

    New Aurora Teagarden movie

Samuels will play the librarian-turned-sleuth in a new Aurora Teagarden movie coming out on Hallmark Movies and Mysteries. A prequel to the series that starred Bure, Aurora Teagarden Mysteries: Something New shows a young Aurora, who has just graduated college and moved back in with her mom in the small town of Lawrenceton, Washington.

But instead of seeking out advice from Bure, Samuels relied on co-star Marilu Henner to help her bring the beloved character to life. Henner has portrayed Aida Teagarden, Aurora’s formidable mother, in every one of the mysteries.

“And so she was kind of our encyclopedia for a lack of a better word [for] the world of Aurora and tidbits with that crazy memory of hers,” Samuels said in an interview with Yahoo. “She really was able to fill us in on anything we didn’t know.”

    The prequel

Hallmark premiered the first movie in the Aurora Teagarden mystery series in 2015. Based on the books by Charlaine Harris, the series consisted of 18 movies:

Aurora Teagarden Mystery: A Bone to Pick (2015)

Real Murders: An Aurora Teagarden Mystery (2015)

Three Bedrooms, One Corpse: An Aurora Teagarden Mystery (2015)

The Julius House: An Aurora Teagarden Mystery (2016)

Dead Over Heels: An Aurora Teagarden Mystery (2017)

A Bundle of Trouble: An Aurora Teagarden Mystery (2017)

Last Scene Alive: An Aurora Teagarden Mystery (2018)

Reap What You Sew: An Aurora Teagarden Mystery (2018)

Aurora Teagarden Mysteries: The Disappearing Game (2018)

Aurora Teagarden Mysteries: A Game of Cat and Mouse (2019)

Aurora Teagarden Mysteries:n Inheritance to Die For (2019)

Aurora Teagarden Mysteries: A Very Foul Play (2019)

Aurora Teagarden Mysteries: Heist and Seek (2020)

Aurora Teagarden Mysteries: Reunited and It Feels So Deadly (2020)

Aurora Teagarden Mysteries: How to Con a Con (2021)

Aurora Teagarden Mysteries: Til Death Do Us Part (2021)

Aurora Teagarden Mysteries: Honeymoon, Honeymurder (2021)

Aurora Teagarden Mysteries: Haunted By Murder (2022)

    Aurora Teagarden Mysteries: Something New

In the new Aurora Teagarden movie, Skyler Samuels stars as Ro, who has just graduated from college and returned to Lawrenceton. While applying for grad school programs and trying to settle on a thesis, Ro works as a teacher’s assistant in a crime fiction class. She also waits tables at the local diner.

In her free time, she discusses cases with her friend, a local police officer named Arthur (played by Evan Roderick), and helps her friend Sally (played by Kayla Heller) plan her wedding.

But when Sally’s groom fails to show up for the rehearsal dinner, Ro and Arthur set out to find him. They find the groom but also discover a dead body, and Sally’s fiancé becomes the prime suspect in the case.

    The new Aurora

In recent interviews, Samuels said she felt a responsibility to the fans of the series to portray Aurora in a way they found familiar.

“It was our goal to make something that felt familiar but also exciting to the old audience,” she told Yahoo.

She also said it was fun to play the character before she had become a skilled detective.

“The one thing that I love watching as an audience member is imperfect people,” Samuels told TV Insider. “It’s just not interesting if people are too put together or too polished. It’s fun to see people be human and a little rough around the edges. When we meet Aurora as an adult, she’s pretty polished and she’s good at solving her mysteries and crimes. She’s in her stride.”

“I thought it would be really fun to just embrace the version of her where she’s not good at this stuff yet. She’s still definitely figuring it out, and you’re watching her stumble into her superpower of being this gumshoe mystery solver and how that love and obsession develops for her.”

Aurora Teagarden Mysteries: Something New will premiere on Hallmark Movies and Mysteries on Friday, June 9 at 9/8c.

  • Popular Hallmark movie franchise moving to Great American Family

Popular Hallmark movie franchise moving to Great American Family

The popular Hallmark movie franchise The Christmas Waltz is moving to Great American Family. The network, which was started by former Hallmark CEO Bill Abbott, announced it will produce a second movie in the series, Paris Christmas Waltz.

Filmed on location in Paris, the movie stars Jen Lilley and Matthew Morrison (of Glee fame). It will premiere later this year.

    Hallmark movie

The Christmas Waltz premiered on Hallmark during the 2020 Countdown to Christmas lineup. The movie starred Lacey Chabert as Avery, a woman who breaks off her engagement shortly before her storybook Christmas wedding. Though she is devastated, she decides to attend the ballroom dancing lessons she booked to prepare for the reception. Sparks fly between Avery and her handsome instructor (played by Will Kemp). But their relationship is put in danger when Avery’s former fiancé decides he wants her back.

The movie was written by husband-and-wife team Michael and Janeen Damian. Michael Damian, who is best known for his role as Danny Romalotti on The Young and the Restless, has collaborated with his wife on 17 original movies with his wife, including Falling for Christmas and Irish Wish.

    Paris Christmas Waltz

In Paris Christmas Waltz, Jen Lilley plays Emma, a woman who gives up her job right before Christmas so a colleague who has a family can keep his.

While she tries to figure out her next step, she meets Leo, a professional dancer (played by Matthew Morrison). When he gets the opportunity to perform in Paris, he invites Emma along for the adventure.

The movie will “sweep viewers into the magic of the city’s most iconic destinations,” according to a press release from Great American Family.

    The Great Migration

Bill Abbott left Hallmark in 2020. In June 2021, he announced he had partnered with Dallas-based Hicks Equity Partnership to buy two cable networks in a deal Bloomberg estimated at $90 million.

The networks began airing content in September. Many actors known for their work with Hallmark began appearing in films and programs for Great American Family, including Jen Lilley, Trevor Donovan, Jessica Lowndes, and Danica McKellar.

In April 2022, Candace Cameron Bure made headlines when she announced she would be moving to Great American Family.

“I’m very excited to develop heartwarming family and faith-filled programming and make the kind of stories my family and I love to watch,” Bure said in a statement through the network.

Great American Family has not yet announced a premiere date for Paris Christmas Waltz. We will update this story as more information becomes available.

  • Hallmark releases preview of 2023 Christmas in July lineup

Hallmark releases preview of 2023 Christmas in July lineup

The second best time of the year is right around the corner. Hallmark has released a teaser for Christmas in July, its month-long holiday programming event. The 30-second clip shows scenes from some of Hallmark’s most popular Christmas movies, including Three Wise Men and a Baby, A Holiday Spectacular, Haul Out the Holly, and We Wish You a Married Christmas.

Hallmark released the clip on its Twitter page.

“Attention team Kringle!” read the message that accompanied the video. “#ChristmasinJuly is coming soon! Indulge in candy cane ice cream and iced hot chocolate as we bring you a spectacular month of beloved holiday movies.”

    Christmas in July

Hallmark has been running Christmas movies during the month of July since 2012. The programming event has become so popular that the network even creates new movies to premiere during Christmas in July.

In 2021, Hallmark debuted Crashing Through the Snow, starring Amy Acker and Warren Christie, during Christmas in July. Last year, three new movies had their debut during the event, including My Grown-Up Christmas List, starring Kayla Wallace and Kevin McGarry, Campfire Christmas, starring Tori Anderson and Corbin Bleu, and Christmas in Toyland, starring Vanessa Lengies and Jesse Hutch.

Hallmark has released the details of its first 2023 Christmas movie in its Countdown to Christmas lineup.

    Countdown to Christmas

In an interview with E! News, a Hallmark exec said the summer movie event gets audiences ready for the end-of-year holiday season.

“We are always discussing more ways to make our programming events special,” said Randy Pope, senior vice president of programming and development. “We like to look at Christmas in July as a gift to our viewers who are excited for Countdown to Christmas. It’s a sneak preview of what’s to come starting in October.”

Hallmark has not announced whether any new movies will premiere during this year’s Christmas in July event. However, the network has already finished at least three Christmas movies since January, including A Mystic Christmas, A Biltmore Christmas, and Christmas Goals.

  • Lacey Chabert and Will Kemp reunite in new Hallmark movie The Dancing Detective: Deadly Tango

Lacey Chabert and Will Kemp reunite in new Hallmark movie The Dancing Detective: Deadly Tango

Lacey Chabert and Will Kemp will once again put their dancing skills to use when they reunite in the new Hallmark movie The Dancing Detective: Deadly Tango.

Chabert has been posting regularly about the movie on her Instagram, sharing photos and even videos from the set.

“Good morning from Malta!” she wrote in one post. “I’m really enjoying filming in this beautiful place. Very thankful for this experience!”

    New Hallmark movie

Chabert plays a no-nonsense detective named Constance Bailey. According to a synopsis from Hallmark, Constance “insists on doing things her way, which usually means doing everything alone. She gets results, but her inability to keep a partner is holding her back in her career.”

When the CEO of a global ballroom company is murdered on the eve of a major company event, Interpol sends Detective Bailey to investigate. To go undercover, she must pose as a ballroom dancer. The only problem is she has two left feet.

She is forced to team up with charismatic and free-spirited British dancer and actor Sebastian Moore (Will Kemp), who poses as her husband. Though he has good instincts for solving crimes, everything he knows about detective work he learned from television. As he teaches Constance about ballroom dancing, she teaches him the realities of investigating a case.

But as the list of suspects grows, Constance must learn to trust her partner if she is ever going to solve the murder.

    Reunited

This is the third movie Lacey Chabert and Will Kemp have made together. In 2019, they starred in Love, Romance & Chocolate together. They also showed off their ballroom dancing skills in the 2020 Countdown to Christmas movie The Christmas Waltz.

Chabert was candid about the difficulty she had learning to ballroom dance. (Though we can all agree she nailed it.)

“Having so much fun learning to dance,” she wrote in an Instagram post. “It’s such a challenge!!!!”

Kemp, on the other hand, has had a long career as a dancer. He attended the prestigious Royal Ballet School in England before joining Matthew Bourne’s dance company Adventures in Motion Pictures. During an appearance in Swan Lake, Kemp was spotted by the head of Paramount Studios. He appeared in a commercial for Gap and then snagged a role in the 2004 movie Van Helsing.

The Dancing Detective: Deadly Tango will premiere on Hallmark Movies and Mysteries on Friday, June 2 at 9/8c.

  • Seriously? Entire cast of Ride goes on Facebook Live ahead of series finale but still no word on Season 2

Seriously? Entire cast of Ride goes on Facebook Live ahead of series finale but still no word on Season 2

The stars of Hallmark’s rodeo show Ride did a Facebook Live appearance ahead of the Season 1 finale but one major question was left unanswered: Will there be a Season 2?

Nancy Travis, Beau Mirchoff, Jake Foy, Sara Garcia, Tiera Skovbye, and Tyler Jacob Moore all answered questions about their characters and the show’s various storylines. But the Friday afternoon appearance ended without any announcement about Season 2.

    Not that fans didn’t ask.

“Praying you have season two coming out love this show,” wrote one fan in the comments section.

“As soon as we have more information, we’ll be sure to post it on our FB page,” wrote the page administrator for Hallmark Channel. “Thank you for reaching out.”

    Canceled or renewed?

Fans have been speculating for weeks as to whether the series would be renewed. Some have even suggested the current strike by The Writers Guild of America could affect production.

But Hallmark has not commented at all, except to say an announcement will come soon.

    Ride

Ride premiered on Hallmark Channel on March 26. It was the second of two new series to premiere on the network in 2023. The Way Home, which starred Andie MacDowell and Chyler Leigh, had its debut in January.

In Ride, Nancy Travis stars as Isabel McMurray, the matriarch of a rodeo dynasty. Isabel, who lost both her husband and her oldest son to bull-riding accidents, is struggling to decide whether she can afford to hold on to her family’s Colorado ranch.

Her son Cash (played by Beau Mirchoff) wants to become a professional bull-rider to raise money for the ranch, but Isabel is terrified something will happen to him. Instead, she connects with a wealthy family that may be interested in buying the land from her.

In addition to Travis and Mirchoff, the show stars Jake Foy as the family’s youngest son, Tiera Skovbye as former rodeo queen Missy, the widow of Isabel’s oldest son, and Dylan Neal as the patriarch of the family interested in buying the ranch.

    Fan reaction

Fan reactions to the series have been mixed. Some say it’s the perfect new show for Hallmark and a great alternative to the TV show Yellowstone.

“It’s like Yellowstone without the swearing and murder,” one wrote on Facebook.

Others struggled to get interested in the storyline.

“Too many characters,” another wrote. “Too much going on. The back stories are hard to follow.”

    Ratings

Ratings for Season 1 of the series have varied greatly from week to week. Episode 1 brought in around 1.3 million viewers. Episode 9, on the other hand, had around 830,000 viewers.

Hallmark’s other new series, The Way Home, had between 1.3 and 1.7 million viewers per episode.

The Season 1 finale of Ride will premiere on Hallmark Channel on Sunday, May 28 at 9/8c.

    About the cast

Skyler Samuels shared the news of her new role on Instagram. In a post that included a photo of her with Tegaarden’s trademark auburn locks, she wrote, “Surprise…I’m the new Aurora. … So excited to be joining the mysterious and fun world of Aurora Teagarden. Let the mystery solving begin!”

Skyler Samuels got her start on TV working for the Disney Channel. She had roles on The Suite Life of Zack & Cody, That’s So Raven, and The Wizards of Waverly Place.

  • Jesse Hutch and Lily Gao star in the Hallmark movie The Love Club: Sydney’s Journey

Jesse Hutch and Lily Gao star in the Hallmark movie The Love Club: Sydney’s Journey

The Hallmark movie The Love Club: Sydney’s Journey will premiere this weekend as part of the network’s Memorial Day lineup. The movie, which stars Lily Gao and Jesse Hutch, is part of a series originally released on Hallmark Movies Now.

The Love Club movies follow four women who make a pact always to help each other out when they have relationship trouble. The first film in the series, The Love Club: Nicole’s Pen Pal, starred Brittany and Bristow and Marcus Rosner. It premiered on Hallmark Channel in February.

Bristow starred as Nicole, a newly engaged interior designer who starts to wonder if she should be with her mystery college pen pal, whose letters she has kept. When she calls on the Love Club for help, they help her track down her pen pal (played by Marcus Rosner) in a mountain lodge. According to a synopsis from Hallmark, “Along the way, Nicole encounters romance, comedic imposters, female bonding, and plenty of mishaps until ultimately, the letters help lead her to her true love.”

    Hallmark movie

The Love Club is one of two new series introduced by Hallmark that feature a group of friends who help each other in matters of the heart.

In 2022, Hallmark introduced the first of The Wedding Veil movies. Starring Lacey Chabert, Alison Sweeney, and Autumn Reeser, The Wedding Veil followed a group of college friends who reunite every year in a different city. During a trip to San Francisco, they discover an antique wedding veil that is rumored to bring true love to its owner.

In the first movie, Lacey Chabert’s character finds true love. In the second movie, The Wedding Veil Unveiled, Autumn Reeser finds her soulmate. In the third, The Wedding Veil Legacy, it’s Alison Sweeney’s turn to fall in love.

The movies were so well received that Hallmark made three more in 2023: The Wedding Veil Expectations, The Wedding Veil Inspiration, and The Wedding Veil Journey.

    The Love Club: Sydney’s Journey

In The Love Club: Sydney’s Journey, Lily Gao stars as Sydney, a food blogger and former track star who still holds a torch for her college boyfriend. When she runs into him unexpectedly, she finds out he will be running in a Valentine’s Day 10k. She signs up for the run and then calls on her friends from the Love Club to help get her ready.

But when she is paired up with a local restaurant owner (Jesse Hutch) for the run, she finds she might be chasing after the wrong man.

    About the cast

Lily Gao has appeared on the TV shows The Handmaid’s Tale, Letterkenny, Second Jen, Transplant, and Chapelwaite. In 2022, she starred in the Great American Family movie Catering Christmas alongside Daniel Lissing and Merritt Patterson.

Jesse Hutch played Luke Bailey on the Hallmark series Cedar Cove. He has also appeared on the shows Heartland, Arrow, Once Upon a Time, Smallville, and Batwoman.

He starred in the Hallmark movies Let It Snow (2013), Harvest Moon (2015), and Christmas in Toyland (2022).

    The Love Club Weekend Lineup:

Hallmark will air all four movies in the Love Club series this weekend.

The Love Club: Sydney’s Journey will premiere on Hallmark Channel on Saturday, May 27 at 8/7c.

On Monday, May 29, Hallmark will air all four Love Club movies back to back:

4/3c The Love Club: Sydney’s Journey

  • A Hallmark Christmas movie with ties to Mystic Pizza is in the works

A Hallmark Christmas movie with ties to Mystic Pizza is in the works

A Hallmark Christmas movie is being filmed in Mystic, Connecticut. A Mystic Christmas, which features businesses throughout Old Mystick Village, will also star someone from the 1988 movie Mystic Pizza.

Chris Regan, whose family owns the property where much of the filming took place, told a local news station about the connection to the Julia Roberts movie. The landmark shopping center has been used in several Christmas movies, including Lifetime’s A Very Nutty Christmas (2018).

    Hallmark Christmas movie

In Mystic Christmas, an animal expert gets a call for help from an old friend and ends up taking a job that puts her in the path of an ex at Christmas, according to the Tumblr account for SleepyKittyPaws (also known as Ho! Ho! Holiday Viewing). It stars Patti Murin and Dan Albertson.

The movie was filmed at various locations in Olde Mistick Village, a shopping center designed to look like an 18th century New England village.

Several other Hallmark Christmas movies have already been filmed in locations around the U.S. and Canada.

Filming began on A Biltmore Christmas in January. In the romantic comedy, Bethany Joy Lenz plays Lucy, a screenwriter who lands the job of a lifetime when she’s hired to write the script for a remake of the beloved holiday movie His Merry Bride, which was filmed at the Biltmore Estate in North Carolina.

As Christmas approaches, Lucy travels to the Biltmore Estate for research. She joins a guided tour of the house and finds herself drawn to a beautiful hourglass on display. When she accidentally knocks it over, she finds herself transported back in time to 1947 as the cast and crew prepare to film His Merry Bride. Lucy does her best to navigate an unfamiliar place as a woman out of time, charming some and raising suspicions of others.

Kevin McGarry recently finished making Christmas Goals, a hockey-themed movie, in British Columbia. The movie, which is set in Idaho, also stars The Bold and The Beautiful star Kim Matula.

    Mystic Christmas

Olde Mystick Village shared photos on its Facebook page of crews shooting scenes for Mystic Christmas. Scenes for the movie were also shot at the Mystic Aquarium.

Patti Murin has starred in the Hallmark movies Holiday for Heroes (2019), Love on Iceland (2020), To Catch a Spy (2021), and In Merry Measure (2022).

A release date has not yet been given for Mystic Christmas.

  • Mountain views and not a Spanx in sight: Nancy Travis weighs in on the perks of starring in Hallmark’s epic rodeo series Ride

Mountain views and not a Spanx in sight: Nancy Travis weighs in on the perks of starring in Hallmark’s epic rodeo series Ride

Nancy Travis loves being part of Hallmark’s rodeo series Ride. In a recent interview, the actress touched on all the things she enjoys about being part of the show. High on the list are the location (they shoot on a working ranch in Alberta), her co-workers, and the show’s storylines. But wardrobe tops it all.

“Oh my God, I just want to say, what I love, love, love about this part is it’s completely Spanx-less,” Travis told People magazine. “It’s such a joy to just work in jeans and shirts, and it can be dirty and don’t have to be pressed. So Isabel has maybe a dozen pairs of jeans. But it’s sort of like cowboy boots. I mean, once you have a pair that fits, that’s the pair you wear over and over again. And the more worn in, the better they are.”

    Nancy Travis

A native of Queens, Travis worked on Broadway before landing her breakout role in the 1987 box office hit Three Men and a Baby. She went on to star in the movies Internal Affairs (1990), Air America (1990), Passed Away (1992), Chaplin (1992), So I Married an Axe Murderer (1993), Greedy (1994), and Fluke (1995).

Travis has also appeared on the TV shows Almost Perfect, Becker, Last Man Standing, and The Kominsky Method.

    Ride

Ride premiered on Hallmark Channel on March 26. In the show, Travis plays Isabel McMurray, the matriarch of a rodeo dynasty. Isabel, who lost both her husband and her oldest son to bull-riding accidents, struggles to decide whether she can afford to hold on to her family’s Colorado ranch.

“Every actor craves big stakes, and it comes down to what are you willing to fight for and how are you going to fight for it and what matters,” Travis said in an interview with The List. “For Isabel, her family matters. Even though the ranch is her big focal point and passion in her life, and the family is very much a rodeo family, and that’s a very big factor in their lives, she’d take a bullet for her family and will claw somebody’s eyes out to protect them. That’s what drives her.”

    Learning on the job

Travis said she had a lot to learn when she took on the role of Isabel.

“I had no prowess when it comes to horseback riding,” she told People. “The most complex horseback riding I had ever done is maybe on a trail ride where I’m on some very old horse that just follows the one in front of it and carousels.”

New episodes of Ride air on Hallmark Channels on Sunday evenings. Check your local listings for start times.

  • Cindy Busby uncovers romance and history in new Hallmark movie Love in Zion National: A National Park Romance

Cindy Busby uncovers romance and history in new Hallmark movie Love in Zion National: A National Park Romance

Cindy Busby will star in the new Hallmark movie Love in Zion National: A National Park Romance. In the film, she plays Lauren, a museum curator who is in a race to find a treasured Anasazi vase.

In a Facebook Live appearance to promote the movie, Busby talked about special the park is to Lauren, who spent a lot of time there with her mother when she was growing up.

“Zion holds a very special place in Lauren’s heart,” Busby said. “She knows that this adventure…would be something her mother would take to heart.”

    New Hallmark movie

Love in Zion National is part of a series produced by Hallmark Channel to showcase the beauty of America’s national parks. Love in Glacier National, which starred Ashley Newbrough and Stephen Huszar, premiered earlier this year.

In Love in Zion National, Busby plays Lauren, the assistant curator at the Denver Museum of Natural History. She is thrilled when the museum receives a donation from a wealthy benefactor of three Anasazi wedding vases. However, the benefactor’s nephew (played by Bourke Floyd) is challenging the donation, saying the valuable pieces should stay in his family’s collection.

Lauren develops a theory that there is a fourth vase and becomes determined to track it down so that the entire set can be returned to the Pueblo Nation.

    Cindy Busby

In her Facebook Live appearance, Busby talked about how confident Lauren is that she can find her way around the park. But that confidence is misplaced and she soon finds herself lost.

She is found by park ranger and native Puebloan Adam Proudstar (played by David Gridley). Though at first he is skeptical about her motives for finding the vase, he soon begins to trust her motives. He even introduces her to his grandmother, who grew up in the park and knows where to look for the vase.

    About the cast

Cindy Busby is a Hallmark fan favorite, having appeared in two different series for the network: Cedar Cove (as Rebecca Jennings) and When Calls the Heart (as Marlise Bennett). She has also starred in the Hallmark movies A Godwink Christmas: Meant For Love, Heart of Down Under, Wedding March 5: My Boyfriend’s Back, Chasing Waterfalls, Romance in the Air, and Marry Me in Yosemite. She also starred in Joy for Christmas, which premiered on Great American Family (the new network started by former Hallmark CEO Bill Abbott) in December 2021.

David Gridley starred in the movie The DUFF (2015) and appeared on the TV shows Pretty Smart, The Last Ship, and Team Kaylie.

In a recent interview, he talked about how much fun it was to shoot Love in Zion National: A National Park Romance.

“One of the big things that got me excited about the movie was the fact that it was shooting in Zion,” he told the website Just Jared. “I’d never been to that part of the country before, so that was a big, big draw for me. Then just being part of telling the history of the Anasazi people and being able to do research on that to understand their lifestyle.”

Love in Zion National: A National Park Romance will premiere on Hallmark Channel on Saturday, May 20 at 8/7c.

  • Great American Media and Pure Flix to merge

Great American Media and Pure Flix to merge

A new network founded by former Hallmark CEO Bill Abbott is merging with Sony’s faith-based streaming service Pure Flix. Great American Family announced that the two will join forces to create Great American Adventures, a streaming service featuring family- and faith-based entertainment.

“In a media environment where programming and distribution business models are in a constant state of flux, this agreement provides a rare opportunity to maximize our potential with the expertise, market knowledge and content creation capabilities of a world-class partner like Sony Pictures,” Abbott said in a statement. “This merger will allow us to further our commitment to original, quality content and makes Great American Media and Pure Flix leaders in a large and under-served market.”

    Family-friendly entertainment

Leaders at both Great American Family and Pure Flix spoke to the importance of promoting family-friendly entertainment in the current market.

“Family-friendly entertainment remains an important segment of the industry, and merging these two entities will create the greatest opportunity to achieve more scale for Pure Flix as it continues to build its subscriber base,” said Ravi Ahuja, chairman of global television studios and corporate development for Sony Pictures. “Bill and the Great American Media team have been successfully leading the Great American Family and Great American Living brands, and we believe they have a winning plan to take Pure Flix to even greater heights.”

    Pure Flix

The Pure Flix streaming service emerged from a production company founded in 2005 by David A. R. White, Michael Scott, Russell Wolfe, Randy Travis, and Elizabeth Travis.

The company has produced such titles as The Wager, Home Beyond the Sun, In the Blink of an Eye, Sarah’s Choice, A Greater Yes: The Story of Amy Newhouse, The Book of Ruth: Journey of Faith, Holyman Undercover, and Samson.

In 2020, Sony Pictures Entertainment acquired the streaming service portion of the business and continued the company’s mission of promoting family-friendly and faith-based movies and TV shows.

    Great American Family

In June 2021, former Crown Media CEO Bill Abbott announced he had partnered with Dallas-based Hicks Equity Partnership to purchase two cable networks in a deal Bloomberg estimated at $90 million. Great American Media began broadcasting in September 2021 on two channels, which were originally branded GAC Family and GAC Living.

The networks were eventually rebranded as Great American Family and Great American Living. They began producing original content both for television and for an app called Great American Community.

    What does this mean?

The deal still needs regulatory approval. If it goes through, Great American Media will retain a controlling stake in the merged company, with Abbott as CEO, and oversee the day-to-day management of all multi-channel family and faith media brands.

We will continue to update this story as more information becomes available.

  • 12 fascinating facts about Daniel Lissing (because he’s awesome)

12 fascinating facts about Daniel Lissing (because he’s awesome)

It’s been nearly 10 years since Aussie Daniel Lissing made his debut on Hallmark Channel as the original Hunk in Red Serge on When Calls the Heart. The actor became a favorite among Hearties for his portrayal of Mountie Jack Thornton, who fell for schoolteacher Elizabeth Thatcher (played by Erin Krakow) in one of the network’s sweetest romances. (And it’s Hallmark we’re talking about, so that’s saying something.)

Though the actor left the show at the end of Season 5, he continues to be a favorite among fans.

Since he’s super cool — and we miss seeing him on the show — here are 12 facts about the actor, musician, producer, and businessman:

    1. He was a soap star in Australia

Before moving to the United States, Lissing appeared on the Australian soap opera Home and Away. He is one of many actors who had roles on the show before embarking on a career in Hollywood. Heather Ledger, Isla Fisher, Chris Hemsworth, and Melissa George also appeared in the series.

    2. He is a talented musician

Lissing told Entertainment Tonight that he played and sang in bars in Australia before making the move to the States. He focused on acting after he arrived, but he continues to play guitar and sing. Here’s a clip of him singing a duet with his When Calls the Heart co-star Erin Krakow:

    3. Speaking of Erin Krakow, Lissing said he would love to work with her again

“About two or three years ago, I sent a big proposal to Hallmark pitching a Christmas movie with Erin and I in modern day, and they didn’t think it was the right time,” he said during a 2020 interview. “Maybe it is now?”

    (Well, Hallmark? Is it?)

    4. He left When Calls the Heart for personal reasons

Fans were shocked when Lissing’s character, Jack Thornton, was killed at the end of Season 5, especially since he had just married Elizabeth (Erin Krakow).

When asked about his decision to leave the series after so many years, he made it clear the specifics would remain private.

“Circumstances arose for me where I needed to leave When Calls the Heart for reasons that are very personal to me,” he said in a Facebook Live event. “I went to Hallmark and they were nothing but supportive of me. I went to the girls and they were nothing but supportive of me.”

    5. He doesn’t regret his decision to leave When Calls the Heart…

In a 2020 interview with Entertainment Tonight, Lissing talked about how different his life would be if he had stayed on the show. For one thing, he might never have met his wife, who he fell for on a trip to Iceland. (She is from Poland originally, but they met in a Reykjavik bar.)

“It’s funny the way the world works,” he said. “If I had stayed on the show, and been there during season 6 and shot and all that kind of stuff, then I wouldn’t have met Nadia, you know? And I wouldn’t be getting married and I wouldn’t be at this place in my life where I feel really in line with what I’m meant to be doing personally and professionally, so no regrets at all. …How can I look at my future wife and say, ‘Oh, I should’ve stayed on this job?’ She’s my life, you know? That’s my personal life and that’s exponentially more important to me than a job.”

    6. ….but he does miss his Hallmark family

Daniel Lissing and Ava Grace Cooper on the set of When Calls the Heart. (Image: Instagram/@daniellissing)
Daniel Lissing and Ava Grace Cooper on the set of When Calls the Heart. (Image: Instagram/@daniellissing)

In the same ET interview, Lissing said he loved his time at Hallmark.

“It is a family, and that aspect of things I really miss,” he said. “I love all the cast and the people at Hallmark. My time with Hallmark was nothing but positive and I’m truly grateful to be a part of it.”

    7. He is open to reprising his role as Jack Thornton (kind of)

He did it once, appearing as the spirit of Jack Thornton on When Hope Calls: A Country Christmas in 2021.

In an interview, he said it was emotional to be back in his old costume, though the boots were killer.

“I forgot how hard the boots were to put on! So, I was like, ‘Oh yeah! That’s right. The boots!’ You forget that stuff,” he told Entertainment Tonight.

But once he was back in his mountie uniform, he got all the feels.

“I am so grateful to have played [Thornton], because that character was a really big part of my time, and my life, for a span from 2013 to 2021,” he said. “That’s a long time to do it. There was a break in between, and it was just for this; for this one moment again with Jack. I felt a lot of gratitude.”

But Lissing made it clear he would only return for brief appearances (as opposed to rejoining the cast), which makes sense because his character is — um, well — dead.

    8. He is more than just a pretty face

When Lissing arrived in the States at the age of 30, he focused on his acting career. When he was successful, he used the money he earned to invest in several companies, including a plant-based fast-food restaurant called The Burger Patch.

His wife is also a smart cookie. When the pair first met, she had just — at the ripe old age of 25 — finished earning a master’s degree in business.

    You go, girl.

    9. Yeah, he is married (sigh)

Daniel and Nadia tied the knot in a private ceremony in 2022. The pair had originally planned a wedding in Bali but had to reschedule because of COVID.

    11. He is a huge supporter of the South Sydney Rabbitohs

The rugby team is one of the oldest in Australia and has a massive and devout following.

In an interview for the team’s Facebook page, Lissing became emotional talking about how much the team meant to him.

“That was our happy place growing up,” he said.

    12. He is not just a Hallmark hunk

Before joining the cast of When Calls the Heart, Lissing played Navy SEAL James King in the series Last Resort. He also starred opposite Victoria Justice in the MTV show Eye Candy.

During his time on When Calls the Heart, he had a recurring role in Girlfriends’ Guide to Divorce. Since leaving Hallmark, he has guest-starred in the TV shows S.W.A.T. and The Rookie.

In 2021, he starred in A Christmas Star for Great American Family. In 2022, he played opposite Merritt Patterson in Catering Christmas. We are keeping our fingers crossed that he makes an appearance on the network’s 2023 Great American Christmas.

  • Actor Nik Sanchez proves autism is no obstacle to success as he stars in new movie for Easterseals Disability Film Challenge

Actor Nik Sanchez proves autism is no obstacle to success as he stars in new movie for Easterseals Disability Film Challenge

Nik Sanchez has had a busy few years. The actor, who refers to himself as “awesomely autistic,” starred in a movie for Lifetime and an episode of the ABC series The Rookie. He also graduated high school with honors and started a bachelor’s degree.

Recently Sanchez starred in a movie that will be featured in the Easterseals Disability Film Challenge. The competition, which is in its 10th year, showcases work by writers, actors, and crew members with disabilities.

In “Safe Place,” Sanchez stars opposite Amber Patiño, who plays a young woman suffering from depression. Sanchez, whose character in the movie also has autism, is the one person she can rely on when her parents fighting and her urge to self-harm become too much to bear.

    Nik Sanchez

Sanchez was diagnosed at a young age with autism and ADHD. His mother enrolled him in acting classes at the age of five because he enjoyed role-playing.

“The instructor told me I wouldn’t do well because I had the attention span of a gnat,” Sanchez said.

While accompanying his younger sister on a casting call, Nik was discovered by an agent. Soon after, he booked his first role as a recurring character on the ABC series The Rookie.

The experience taught him a lot.

“..I didn’t realize we’d have to do the scenes over and over and over again, because of the angles and the camera changes,” he said. “I gained a much higher respect for the actors.”

Hallmark actress Holly Robinson Peete in the movie Our Christmas Journey (Image: Crown Media)

    Hallmark movie

In 2021, Sanchez starred opposite Holly Robinson Peete and Lyriq Bent in the Hallmark movie Our Christmas Journey. He played the first character in a Hallmark movie to have autism.

In an interview before the film premiered, he said he liked the script for Our Christmas Journey because it was an accurate portrayal of life with autism.

“In real autistic families, everybody is affected,” he said. “Everybody plays a role and this movie really portrays that.”

    Easterseals Disability Film Challenge

The Easterseals Disability Film Challenge was founded in 2013 by actor, comedian, producer, and disability advocate Nic Novicki in response to the under-representation of talent with disabilities both in front of and behind the camera.

“I created the Easterseals Disability Film Challenge to help accelerate change within Hollywood and to provide filmmakers and actors with tangible work experience and with an opportunity to tell authentic stories. We are proud of the amazing films produced over the past 10 years—viewed around the world—and the successes our participants have gone on to achieve.”

Since the Film Challenge was launched in 2013, aspiring filmmakers have created and submitted more than 500 short films (a record 95 last year) from nearly every state and from around the globe, including submissions from Austria, Canada, England, Egypt, Finland, France, Germany, India, Ireland, Timor Leste, and The Netherlands.

During the Film Challenge, registered filmmakers are given five days to write and produce short films (three-to-five minutes), based on the year’s announced genre. Submitted films are judged in six award categories: Best Film, Best Director, Best Actor, Best Writer, Best Editor, and Best Awareness Campaign.

    Safe Place

Sanchez was handpicked to star in Safe Place by the film’s writer, Jennifer Msumba. In an exclusive interview with TV Cheddar, Sanchez said he was impressed with not only her vision but also by the fact that she and the film’s director, Scott Klumb, were also on the autism spectrum.

“It was really amazing for me to see other autistic adults living their lives and doing so well,” he said.

Sanchez met his co-star, Amber Patiño, over a Zoom call. They hit it off immediately, he said.

“She is a really good actress and an even better person,” he said.

Taking part in the Film Challenge was an amazing experience, Sanchez said.

“Especially after working on this project I would want people to know how capable we are of anything,” he said. “I also want to thank all the cast and crew for being so kind. It’s nice to not have to constantly think about my autism because I’m around people who don’t think my autism is a bad thing.
I was just Nik, not the guy with autism.”

Safe Place will premiere on Saturday, April 8 on the Easterseals Disability Film Challenge’s YouTube channel, which can be accessed here.

Signed, Sealed, Delivered star is becoming a director

One of the stars of the Hallmark series Signed, Sealed, Delivered, will soon be taking a turn behind the camera. Yan-Kay Crystal Lowe will direct the Hallmark movie Dream Moms, becoming the first woman to take part in the network’s new Make Her Mark Women’s Directing Program.

“The cat is officially out of the bag,” Lowe wrote in an Instagram post. “I’ve been learning SO much these last few weeks. So grateful to be in the @hallmarkchannel family. And for guidance from @jessicanoelleharmon and to @ashleywilliamsandcompany for being such a champion of women and creating the program.”

The Make her Mark program is the initiative of actress and filmmaker Ashley Williams. The actress, who has starred in the Hallmark movies Never Kiss a Man in a Christmas Sweater, Christmas in Evergreen, and Two Tickets to Paradise recently directed the Paramount Network movie A Nashville Country Christmas.

Romance rules! Hallmark star leading new fundraising effort

A new fundraising effort by Hallmark star Benjamin Ayres has taken off, raising thousands of dollars for charities that help women and children.
The actor has designed hoodies, T-shirts, necklaces, teddy bears, and other merchandise featuring a distinctive Romance University logo. (If it looks vaguely familiar, it’s because it’s based on Harvard University’s logo.)

Now Hallmark stars from Ali Sweeney and Nikki DeLoach to Tyler Hynes and Andrew Walker have been seen sporting the merchandise.

    Inspiration from fans

Last year, Ayres had a few buttons made for his fellow Hallmark co-stars featuring a “Hallmark University” logo. He took some along when he attended Christmas Con 2022 in New Jersey. At the event, he handed some out to fans.

“This was the first time that I had done one of these conventions, and it was great,” he said in an interview with Digital Journal. “Ultimately, I just could not have imagined how beautiful, strong, and heartfelt the community is for the movies that we make. It was an incredible feeling.”

Ayres created more merchandise and changed the logo from “Hallmark University” to “Romance University.” He began selling the apparel online with the goal of donating the proceeds to charity. The collection sold out in less than two weeks and raised more than $4,000, which Ayres donated to charities benefiting women and children.

On January 19, Ayres and his wife visited two of the organizations in Toronto that benefited from the fundraising efforts: Street Haven, a 50-bed emergency shelter, and Anduhyaun, the oldest Indigenous Women’s Shelter in Canada.

Three Wise Men and a Baby

In early February, Ayres made a mockup of a logo featuring Andrew Walker, Tyler Hynes, and Paul Campbell in their roles in the Hallmark hit Three Wise Men and a Baby. He sent it to Walker, who responded with enthusiasm. The new line made its debut in time for Valentine’s Day. Proceeds from the line are going to Alexandria House, an LA transitional home for women and children handpicked by Walker and his wife, Cassandra Troy.

“The RU Alumni raised $5000 in less than two weeks for @alexandriahousela !!” read a post on Romance University’s Instagram page. “Andrew and Cassandra visited the women and dropped off a donation on Valentine’s Day. Could we even wish for anything better than that?!Congratulations everyone! @awalkk35 @casstroywalker @tyler_hynes @paulcampbellofficial.”

Ayres plans on introducing new designs on a regular basis and he is getting lots of support from his fellow Hallmark stars.

“It all started with these warm wonderful humans one evening in Vancouver. I can’t thank them enough for their support and kindness,” he wrote in a social media post.

    About Ayres

Ayres had starring roles in the CTV series Saving Hope and the HBO Canada series Less Than Kind. (He was nominated for a Canadian Screen Award for the latter.) He also appeared on the shows The Good Doctor, Suits, Burden of Truth, and JPod.

In 2020, he co-starred with Nikki Deloach in the Countdown to Christmas movie Cranberry Christmas. In 2021, he co-starred with Danica McKellar in You, Me & the Christmas Trees. In 2022, he appeared in Long Lost Christmas and starred in Color My World With Love, a romantic drama featuring two actors with Down Syndrome.

  • 10 things you didn’t know about Signed, Sealed, Delivered star Eric Mabius

10 things you didn’t know about Signed, Sealed, Delivered star Eric Mabius

POstables have been on edge ever since Hallmark dropped a hint that a new Signed, Sealed, Delivered movie might be in the works. Fans of the series have been waiting since 2021 for a new film.

With that in mind, here are some seriously cool facts about Eric Mabius, who plays Oliver O’Toole in the series. Here they are, in no particular order:

RELATED NEWS: Hallmark drops a hint about a new Signed, Sealed, Delivered movie

    1. He grew up in New England

Mabius was born in Harrisburg, Pa., but grew up in the small town of Warren, Mass.

“We didn’t have much money, so we baked our own bread and picked blueberries to make jam,” he said in an interview with HGTV. We heated our house with a wood stove and cut our own wood.

The family moved to New Jersey for a few years, where his father worked as a historical preservationist at the living history museum Allaire Village. They eventually moved back to Massachusetts. Mabius graduated from Amherst-Pelham Regional High School and earned his degree from Sarah Lawrence College.

    2. He’s a nature boy at heart

Mabius currently lives in what he describes as “the middle of nowhere.” (It’s actually Massachusetts.)

He regularly posts photos and videos of his trail runs and hikes on Instagram, showing fans everything from the waterfall on his property to the flora and fauna he sees on his regular hikes.

    3. He married a girl he met in high school

Mabius wed interior designer Ivy Sherman in 2006. The two met in a health class at Amhert-Pelham Regional High School. Though they never dated in school, they reconnected years after graduation.

“If someone told me I was going to marry someone from high school, I would’ve told them they’re out of their minds!” he said during a 2008 interview with US Weekly.

But when Mabius was working on a project in New Orleans a friend put him in touch with Sherman.

    4. His high school classmates voted him “Most Dramatic Girly”

We’re not even sure what that means.

    5. He was voted one of the “sexiest men alive” by People magazine in 2006

    ‘Nuff said.

    6. He used to compete in luge

If you’re unfamiliar with the sport, it involves a single athlete or a pair of athletes hurtling down a twisting, curving track using only their muscles to help steer. It’s a fast and furious sport: speeds on artificial tracks can reach 90 miles (140 km) an hour.

He was named an honorary captain for the US luge team for the 2010 Winter Olympics along with astronaut Scott Parazynski.

    7. He’s an action-movie star

Though Mabius is known to Hallmark fans as the impeccably dressed, serious-minded Oliver on Signed, Sealed, Delivered, Mabius has played his fair share of shoot-em-up action dudes.

In the 2000 movie The Crow: Salvation, Mabius played a man who gets framed for his girlfriend’s murder and then executed. He is resurrected by the superhero The Crow and tracks down the men who killed his girlfriend. Pretty gritty stuff.

In 2002, he starred alongside Milla Jovovich in Resident Evil, an action movie based loosely on the video game of the same name. He reprised his role in the 2004 sequel Resident Evil: Apocalypse. There were zombies, commandos, shooting, and viruses. A far, far cry from the serenity of the Dead Letter Office.

    8. He starred in the ABC series Ugly Betty

Okay, you probably already knew this one. But did you know that the show was based on Fernando Gaitán’s Colombian telenovela Yo soy Betty, la fea and that it won close to 30 major awards? Well, it did. Mabius starred as polished media empire heir Daniel Meade opposite America Ferrera’s adorable Betty Suarez in the series, which ran from 2006 to 2010.

    9. In 2007, he was named Glamour magazine’s Man of the Year.

    For obvious reasons.

    10. He is on the Cameo app

On his Instagram, Mabius makes mention of the fact that he’s on the Cameo app. This means fans can order a personalized video message from him.

  • Is Rosemary having twins? Hearties weigh in after getting a look at Pascale Hutton’s baby bump

Is Rosemary having twins? Hearties weigh in after getting a look at Pascale Hutton’s baby bump

Is Rosemary having twins? That was the question many fans had after getting a look at actress Pascale Hutton’s (faux) baby bump. Hutton recently shared a clip to Instagram in which she and her co-star Kavan Smith held hands and walked into a field while the song “Baby Love” by The Supremes played. Hutton then turned to reveal a very large baby bump.

“A very special Christmas present to all those #Hearties out there!” Hutton wrote in the caption.

Fans were thrilled and responded on social media. But many had the same question: Could there be two babies on the way for Rosemary and Lee Coulter?

“Judging by the size of that bump, they are definitely have twins,” one fan wrote on Facebook.

“They’re having twins: a boy and a girl,” wrote another Heartie. “That way Hope Valley gets a mini Lee and a mini Rosemary.”

Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit. Ut elit tellus, luctus nec ullamcorper mattis, pulvinar dapibus leo.

    Is Rosemary having twins?

Fans were thrilled when Hutton’s When Calls the Heart character, Rosemary Coulter, discovered late in Season 9 that she was pregnant. In a hilarious scene, she shared the news with her husband, Lee (played by Smith), who was so excited he ran outside in his pajamas shouting with excitement.

The Coulters married in Season 3 and have been hoping to become parents ever since. In a devastating scene, a tearful Rosemary apologized to Lee for not giving him a child. Lee replied, “No matter how much I want to be a father the only thing in the whole world I really need is you.”

    A long-awaited blessing

Fans and cast members alike have speculated that Rosemary and Lee will be fun to watch as parents.

“I think it would be hilarious to see Rosemary pregnant,” Hutton said in an interview with Entertainment Tonight.

“For Lee and Rosemary, with the two quirky characters that they are to go through [a pregnancy] together?” Smith added. “It’s just a gold mine of fun to be had.”

Fans also said the pair will apply their own unique style to having a family.

“Their kids are going to be the best-dressed kids in Hope Valley,” one wrote on Facebook.

When can we see Season 10?

Hallmark has kept the Season 10 premiere date for When Calls the Heart under wraps. At a press event in the summer of 2022, a network exec said fans could expect to see the show sometime “in the middle” of 2023. Typically, the series premieres in February. However, Season 9 didn’t hit the air until March 2022, which made some Hearties pretty upset.

  • Screenwriter Rod Spence says a new Good Witch movie could be coming to Hallmark

Screenwriter Rod Spence says a new Good Witch movie could be coming to Hallmark

The man who created Cassie Nightingale said he believes a new Good Witch movie could be coming to Hallmark. In an interview on the Keep Heartland Strong YouTube channel, screenwriter Rod Spence said he doesn’t think the TV series will return but Hallmark will probably make more movies.

“I think there’s a very good chance it could come back as a movie or a series of movies,” Spence said.

Two of the show’s stars have made similar comments, leading Goodies to hope they will get to see their favorite characters onscreen again.

    The Good Witch

Spence wrote the screenplay for The Good Witch back in 2004. He was trying to sell action-movie screenplays when his agent suggested he take a phone meeting with a Hallmark executive. She told Spence that the network liked to do holiday-themed movies but that they always struggled with Halloween.

“I said, ‘Well let me take a shot at that, let me see what I can come up with,’” Spence said. “So I hung up the phone and an amazing thing happened. Within 45 minutes I had the I had the basic idea for The Good Witch.”

Though he finished the script that year, it took another three years before Hallmark brought it to life on the small screen.

“I kind of think this was divine timing that it just laid there for three years until Catherine Bell came along,” he said. “She was absolutely Cassie Nightingale from day one.”

The movie was so successful that Hallmark commissioned a sequel. Spence offered to write a third movie for the series, which Hallmark wanted to make as a Christmas movie. In The Good Witch’s Gift, Cassie Nightingale got married in a Christmas-themed wedding.

The network made a series of movies featuring the characters Spence created. In 2015, Hallmark premiered a TV series based on the movies.

    The magic of Cassie Nightingale

Spence said he believes the character of Cassie Nightingale was responsible for much of the franchise’s popularity.

“The key to Cassie’s character for me, and what made her so unique and successful is very simple: She’s a woman that no matter who comes to her or what situation comes to her she always responds with unconditional love,” Spence said. “That’s the whole key and that’s what makes her so unique. And you can do so much with that.”

    New Good Witch movie

Hallmark shocked fans when it announced it was canceling the series in July 2021. Goodies have been trying to get the show back on the air ever since, something Spence doesn’t believe will happen.

“It just doesn’t make any business sense to do that as a series,” Spence said.

He explained that costs associated with a TV show tend to increase over the years, and without high enough ratings, the network can’t justify keeping it alive. But it’s highly likely that Hallmark will make a movie featuring Cassie Nightingale and her family, he said. Spence even volunteered to write the script.

“If Hallmark needs a writer for the next Good Witch movie, give me a call!” he said. “I would certainly love to do that.”
