Hallmark is filming three new Wedding Veil movies. Star Lacey Chabert revealed the news during a recent appearance on The Jimmy Fallon Show.

“We’re going to be back,” Chabert said.

The Wedding Veil trilogy, which aired earlier this year on Hallmark, starred Chabert, Alison Sweeney, and Autumn Reeser, as three college friends who discover an antique wedding veil rumored to bring true love to its owner. In The Wedding Veil, Chabert’s character meets the man of her dreams. In the sequel, The Wedding Veil Unveiled, it was Reeser’s turn to meet a handsome stranger. And in The Wedding Veil Legacy, Sweeney found her happily ever after. The movies were among the network’s most-watched films of the year.

Three new Wedding Veil movies

During her appearance on The Jimmy Fallon Show, Chabert talked about how happy she was to appear in Hallmark movies.

“I think now, more than ever, like, we just need some goodness in the world,” Chabert said. “People come up to me all the time and they go, ‘You know, it’s my husband and I, it’s our favorite thing to do together. This movie has helped bring my family together.’ So I consider it an honor to be a part of.”

Chabert shared with the audience that she had starred in 33 movies for Hallmark Media. Fallon claimed to have seen every one of them.

“I watch them with my dad,” he said.

Chabert then asked if he wanted to be in one.

“Like, I have some stuff next year,” she said. “I would love to be in one with you.”

Wedding Veil Trilogy

The Wedding Veil trilogy made headlines when it premiered on the Hallmark Channel in January 2022. Fans were excited to see three of their favorite stars together in three different movies.

And while the focus of each movie was true love, Chabert said that the story was really about the friendship between the women.

“I think the sisterhood is at the heart of these stories,” Chabert said during a Facebook Live event to promote the third film.

Reeser agreed, saying that the relationship between the three characters reminded her of her own friendships in real life.

“The love stories that have meant the most to me in my life are the love stories between me and my friends,” she said. “I think friendship gets put in a second-place position and for so many of us, those are the relationships that carry us through our life.”

New movies

Chabert didn’t reveal much about the new Wedding Veil movies, other than the fact that the first one will premiere in January 2023.

Paul Greene may return to When Calls the Heart. The actor, who played Dr. Carson Shepherd on the hit Hallmark series, says he has discussed with producers the possibility of coming back.

“There have been talks about some different approaches to completing that storyline or expanding that,” he said during a recent interview with TV Insider.

A return to When Calls the Heart

Greene played Dr. Carson Shepherd on When Calls the Heart from 2017-2021. His character first arrived in Hope Valley to work on the railway. After an injury left him unable to go back to his old job, he got work at Abigail’s Cafe. He became close to a local nurse, Faith Carter (played by the awesome Andrea Brooks), though he never revealed that he was a doctor.

When Abigail’s adopted son Cody became sick, Shepherd correctly diagnosed him with appendicitis and performed an operation that saved his life. He finally admitted that he was a trained doctor who had stopped practicing medicine after the death of his wife.

He eventually became the town’s doctor and began courting Faith Carter. She eventually left town to pursue her medical studies in Chicago. When she returned to Hope Valley, the two picked up where they left off. Carson Shepherd was ready to propose when he got word that he had been accepted into a prestigious surgical fellowship in Baltimore.

He accepted the fellowship and left Hope Valley — and Faith Carter — far behind.

In the off-season

Fans were hoping to see Carson Shepherd return in Season 9, but apart from a few mentions by Faith, he wasn’t on the show.

During a May 2021 appearance on The Bubbly Sesh” podcast, Greene said he wasn’t sure if his character would come back.

“A lot can happen in the off-season,” he said. “There’s a big-time jump in between seasons. Faith’s character became a doctor in the off-season. There’s so much that can happen.”

Busy career

In his most recent interview, Greene said he’s loved being part of When Calls the Heart, but that he is also busy with other things. The actor has a son with Kate Austin, a musical career, and films that will soon be released.

In the CBS film Fit For Christmas, he co-stars with Amanda Kloots. In Great American Family’s I’m Glad It’s Christmas, he will share the screen with Gladys Knight and Jessica Lowndes.

“When you’re on a series, you might be able to sneak in one or two things,” he said. “I loved being on it, but there are so many other projects I wanted to do. I helped produce a pilot. I’ve been involved in a film for two years that I’m proud of. If I was on a series, that all wouldn’t happen. I also had a baby and was able to be there for the whole pregnancy. I would never give up any of that for extra seasons. I have my gift…I make music, I have a podcast. I’m writing a parenting book. I try to be as present for all the little things.”

The Hallmark Christmas comedy Three Wise Men and a Baby is the most-watched cable movie of the year, according to Nielsen ratings.

The movie, which starred Andrew Walker, Tyler Hynes, and Paul Campbell, premiered on November 19 during Hallmark Channel’s Countdown to Christmas lineup.

According to the ratings, it was ad-supported cable’s most-watched movie of the year to date among homes, viewers, women 18+, persons 18+, women 25-54, and women 18-34. It averaged 2.9 million homes, 411,000 women 25-54, and 3.6 million total viewers, according to Nielsen.

Three Wise Men and a Baby

In the movie, a self-absorbed firefighter Luke (Walker) discovers a baby left in his station with a note asking him to look after the child. He brings the baby home to his mother (played by Margaret Colin) who agrees to look after him. But when she gets called out of town unexpectedly, Luke must look after the infant with help from his brothers, played by Hynes and Campbell.

The premise was a departure from the typical single-woman-finds-love-at-the-holidays formula Hallmark Media has become so famous for. But it worked, according to fans.

“This is the BEST!” wrote one fan on Facebook. “Team those three up, again!”

“Hallmark, you got a winner with this movie!! If you haven’t seen it, watch it!! wrote another.

The trio movie

Hallmark found similar success when it paired up three of its other big names, Alison Sweeney, Lacey Chabert, and Autumn Reeser, in The Wedding Veil trilogy. In those romantic comedies, three best friends experienced the mystery of a lace veil rumored to bring true love to its owner.

The movie was inspired in part by fans. Chabert said that fans often asked her if they would see some sort of cross-over movie, with more than one Hallmark leading lady.

Those films did so well that Hallmark tried its hand with three leading men. The gamble paid off.

“Belly laughs,” wrote one fan. “Absolutely adorable movie!”

Walker, Hynes, and Campbell managed to raise a lot of hype for the movie from their on-set antics. In a TikTok video that went viral, the three stars emerged from their trailers wearing elf costumes. Assuming macho poses, they then strutted off together as the George Baker Selection’s hit “Little Green Bag” played in the background.

Three Wise Men and a Baby will air throughout the Christmas season. The next showtime is Saturday, November 26 at 4/3c.

Hallmark’s new TV show The Way Home is set to debut in January and already fans have some questions. The network released a trailer for the series, which will star Andie MacDowell and Chyler Leigh. When it posted the clip to social media, fans immediately raised questions.

“Every time we get interested in and devoted to a series it gets canceled,” wrote one fan in the Facebook comments section.

“No more series for me,” wrote another. “I just start watching then they cancel them.”

Other fans commented on how similar the show seemed to other Hallmark series.

“A mysterious and beautiful woman with magical powers? Sounds like Good Witch to me,” wrote another.

Hallmark’s new TV show

The Way Home follows the lives of three generations of women – Kat Landry (Leigh), her 15-year-old daughter Alice (Sadie Laflamme-Snow) and Kat’s mother, Del (MacDowell). More than 20 years prior, tragic events prompted Kat to move away from her small, Canadian farm town of Port Haven. She and her mother became estranged for reasons Kat has never shared with her daughter.

With Kat’s marriage coming to an end and having just been laid off from her job, she decides to return home after receiving an unexpected letter from Del urging her to come back. Although Alice is not happy with the decision, Kat and her daughter arrive at her family’s farm, though the reunion isn’t what Kat had envisioned. As the three generations of women slowly work on finding their footing as a family, they embark on an enlightening – and surprising – journey none of them could have imagined.

Though Hallmark has been vague with many details, the network shared that time travel is a big part of the story.

“What if you could see your family before it was broken?” says the narrator in the trailer Hallmark released. “What if the only way forward is to go back?”

The series is being written by the mother-daughter team Heather Conkie and Alexandra Clarke. The pair, who wrote the script for the Disney Channel movie Harriet the Spy: Blog Wars, have also collaborated on the award-winning series Heartland.

Andie MacDowell returning to Hallmark Channel in new TV series

MacDowell’s return to Hallmark

From 2013 to 2015, MacDowell starred as Judge Olivia Lockhart on the Hallmark series Cedar Cove. Based on the books by Debbie Macomber, the show followed the residents of a small town on Puget Sound in Washington State. The ensemble cast also included Sarah Smyth, Dylan Neal, Teryl Rothery, Brennan Elliott, Barbara Niven, Cindy Busby, and Jesse Hutch.

Hallmark canceled the series after three seasons. In the past two years, Hallmark has canceled two other series. Good Witch ended after seven seasons. Chesapeake Shores finished after six. Fans have been trying to get both series back on the air.

“I’m so disappointed the great series we had were canceled,” wrote a fan on Facebook. “I wish another channel would pick them up the actors didn’t want their series to end.”

“Sounds interesting, looking forward to it. Please give it a chance before canceling,” wrote a fan.

The Way Home will premiere on Hallmark Channel on Sunday, January 15 at 9/8c.

Erin Krakow and Pascale Hutton promised fans that Season 10 of When Calls the Heart will be one of the best.

“It’s going to be one of the most engaging and electrifying seasons yet,” Krakow wrote in an Instagram post.

“That’s a wrap on the Coulters (all three of them),” wrote Hutton, alluding to her character’s pregnancy on the show. “Oh Hearties — do we have a season for you!!!!!!”

Season 10 of When Calls the Heart

Filming has finished on Season 10 of the hit Hallmark series. The show’s stars have been sharing photos and videos from the set on MacInnes Farms in Langley, British Columbia. (The farm has a great Facebook page, which can be found here.)

“That’s a wrap!” called Jack Wagner in a short video with co-star Kevin McGarry.

In the post that accompanied the video, Wagner wrote, “S10 in the Books!! Incredible to be a part of such a magical show. I hope you all enjoy S10…”

Sadness, wonderment, hope, and joy

In another post, Krakow quoted her onscreen character.

“Elizabeth Thatcher once said ‘For what is life but a bittersweet mixture of sadness, wonderment, hope, and joy.’ As we wrap our 10th season of @wcth_tv, I’m feeling all of those things and more! 10 seasons of stories & memories, friendship & love, and laughter & tears. I’m overwhelmed with gratitude and pride!”

She also thanked Hallmark for continuing to produce the show.

“Thank you @hallmarkchannel for continuing to be such champions of WCTH; we still have lots more stories to tell! Thank you to our crew & cast for your friendship and for all of your hard work this season! And of course thank you to our #Hearties for your unwavering support and passion – we wouldn’t be here without you!”

Season 11?

Andrea Brooks hinted at Season 11 of When Calls the Heart
(Image: Instagram/@andreakbrooks)

Andrea Brooks, who is pregnant with her second child, hinted at the possibility of Season 11.

“Bumping my way across the finish line! Last day of shooting for season 10,” she wrote. “Could not have done it without all the support from this incredible cast and crew. Love you guys to pieces. Thank you @hallmarkchannel for continuing to allow us to tell stories from Hope Valley. Season 11 would be… heaven?”

When Calls the Heart premiered on Hallmark Channel in 2014. Based on a series of books by Canadian author Janette Oke, the show followed a wealthy woman, Elizabeth Thatcher (played by Erin Krakow), who moved to a small Canadian mining town to work as a teacher. She fell in love with and eventually married a mountie — short for Royal Canadian Mounted Police —named Jack Thornton (played by Daniel Lissing).

The series has had its share of controversy. At the end of Season 5, Jack Thornton was killed shortly after his wedding to Elizabeth. In Season 6, two men were brought in to replace him, and they vied for Elizabeth’s hand until she chose between them in the Season 8 finale.

Many fans were upset when Elizabeth chose businessman Lucas Bouchard (Chris McNally) over Mountie Nathan Grant (Kevin McGarry). Some vowed never to watch the show again.

In August, Hallmark Media Exec VP President of Programming Lisa Hamilton Daly told reporters at a press event that Season 10 of When Calls the Heart would premiere in the middle of 2023.

Andrea Brooks is pregnant with her second child. The When Calls the Heart star revealed she has been filming Season 10 of the show while expecting.

“At this point, I feel like I could almost write a book on how to hide a pregnancy on television,” Brooks said during an interview with Entertainment Tonight. “This is the second time I’ve shot a season of When Calls the Heart while pregnant — the last time was Season 7 — and I am forever grateful to Hallmark Channel, our writers, showrunner, directors and producers, for all of their continued support!”

Andrea Brooks is pregnant

Brooks, who plays Dr. Faith Carter on Hallmark’s hit series, gave birth to her daughter, Viola, in December 2019. In an interview shortly before Viola’s birth, Brooks said she was trying to keep a level head.

“I’ve been attending my pregnancy classes and trying to avoid spending too much time on Google,” Brooks said. “I’m already a worry-wart, and sometimes the internet keeps me up worrying about some pretty strange things.”

When Calls the Heart cast

Brooks said her co-workers have been incredibly supportive.

“The major benefit of being a part of a show that’s been on-air for nearly a decade is the tight-knit community we’ve formed as a cast and crew,” Brooks said in an interview with Entertainment Tonight. “It’s been so exciting to see so many people from our show grow up, get engaged, get married, and start families. We also have a LOT of parents on our show. I’ve had so many meaningful conversations on set about preschool, babies, parenting, and balancing it all. Pascale Hutton is always able to answer any question I have about raising kids and I’m always so appreciative of her advice. Also, the costume department left me an adorable crochet baby hat in my trailer the other day.”

It’s a boy!

Brooks said she is expecting a boy at the end of the year. She has a list of possible names in mind but it is constantly changing.

“Viola, on the other hand, has already named the baby!” she said. “If we’re not careful I’m afraid she might sign the birth certificate on our behalf.”

As for cravings, Brooks said she has been eating lots of hummus and veggies and drinking hot chocolate. During her first pregnancy, she craved pickles, eggnog, and Subway sandwiches.

Erin Krakow still texts me pictures of subs to this day because it was such an integral part of my last pregnancy,” she said.

BFFs and When Calls the Heart co-stars Erin Krakow and Pascale Hutton tried the social media trend known as the Tortilla Challenge and the results ae hilarious.

The Tortilla Challenge has become a sensation on TikTok, with more than 943 million views and celebrities from The Rock to Kevin Hart giving it a try. In the try-not-to-laugh challenge, both participants fill their mouths with water and take turns slapping each other with tortillas.

Krakow and Hutton gave it a try on the set of When Calls the Heart. They wore sweats and sneakers but were in full hair and makeup for filming. Hutton went first, but the two were laughing too hard after the first try to go on.

Erin Krakow and Pascale Hutton

Erin Krakow and Pascale Hutton have been close friends since they began working together on Hallmark’s When Calls the Heart in 2014. Their characters, Elizabeth and Rosemary, originally clashed on the show but eventually became friends.

After a few tense moments during Season 8, the pair became closer than ever. In an interview earlier this year, Hutton said Rosemary will always be on Elizabeth’s team.

“Hands down, and this has always been unwavering, Rosemary has always been Team Elizabeth,” she said. “She just wants Elizabeth to find love again. There’s no bigger champion of love than Rosemary of love in Hope Valley.”

The Tortilla Challenge

In the video, Hutton goes first, slapping Krakow with a soft tortilla. Krakow immediately spits out her water, spraying Hutton in the face. Both begin to laugh but then Hutton remembers she is wearing her makeup for the show.

“Pam’s going to be so mad,” she says to Krakow, referring to When Calls the Heart’s lead makeup artist Pam Anseeuw.

“I’m so sorry!” Krakow says.

“You have to go tell Pam!” Hutton says.

The video, which has close to 27,000 “likes” on Instagram, also inspired an abundance of comments.

“You two win for the best #TortillaChallenge!!!” wrote one fan.

“I am crying laughing!!!” wrote one of the show’s crew members.

Anseeuw weighed in with the comment, “You are both grounded.”

The cast of When Calls the Heart is currently filming Season 10 of the hit series. Krakow and Hutton may or may not still be grounded.

Amanda Wong was waiting for just the right time to tell her mother about her new job. The Canadian actress had landed the role of Mei Suo on Hallmark’s longest-running original series When Calls the Heart and she wasn’t sure exactly how to tell her mother and her grandmother. She filmed the entire season before her mother’s best friend stepped in and told Wong’s mother all about it.

“Her best friend comes up to me,” Wong said, “and she goes, ‘Your mom just asked me if you were on a show….I panicked and I said yes.’”

Wong told the story during an appearance on a new show launched by Edify Films, a Christian distributor of When Calls the Heart DVDs and merchandise.

The Edify Show was inspired by the kindness of the When Calls the Heart fans, according to a post on the Edify Films Instagram page.

“We wanted to create a program unlike anything that’s been made before,” reads the post. “But more importantly, with so much bad news being reported, it’s about time to have a reliable source for good news and positive stories. We’re working hard to bring you just that. We hope you love it.”

When Calls the Heart

Hallmark released the first episodes of When Calls the Heart in 2014. Produced by Michael Landon Jr., the show was based on a series of novels by Janette Oke. The series quickly became an international success, launching a spinoff show and inspiring an annual convention.

Amanda Wong joined the cast in Season 9 as pharmacist Mei Suo, who rode into town surrounded by mystery.

In her interview on The Edify Show, Wong talked about filming her first scene with series regular Kevin McGarry.

“I was a little intimidated,” she said.

She soon found out that McGarry, who plays Mountie Nathan Grant, has a great sense of humor.

Soap star Kim Matula will make her Hallmark debut in the new movie Ghosts of Christmas Always. In an exclusive interview with TV Cheddar, the Emmy-nominated actress said she is thrilled to be part of the Countdown to Christmas lineup.

“Hallmark movies are so beloved!” she said. “I’m thrilled to finally be in one. To quote my aunt, an avid Hallmark movie viewer, ‘There’s no nasty language and people are just nice.’ It’s hard to be inundated daily with the tragedies of the world. These films are a reminder that not everything has to be so dark. These movies fill you with cheer and immediately make you feel cozy.”

Hallmark debut

In Ghosts of Christmas Always, Matula plays Katherine, who works for the Department of Restoring Christmas Spirit as a Ghost of Christmas Present.

According to a synopsis from Hallmark, “Katherine loves her job, visiting Earth every Christmas to help one unsuspecting soul rediscover their Christmas spirit. But this year has something unusual in store for her. Along with her co-workers, Ghost of Christmas Past Arlene (Tan Chinn) and Ghost of Christmas Future Roy (VelJohnson), their assignment is a man named Peter (Ian Harding). They’re not sure why they’ve been assigned to him because, unlike their typical cases, Peter’s Christmas spirit is on point. When it appears that Katherine and Peter just might be fated for each other, their assignment starts to head down an unusual path toward none of them could have expected.”

Kim Matula

Kim Matula is best known for playing Hope Logan on the hit soap opera The Bold and the Beautiful. In 2014, she was nominated for a Daytime Emmy Award for her work on the series.

Matula has appeared in the movies Spilt Milk, Dawn Patrol, and Fighting With My Family. She has also appeared on the TV shows Leverage: Redemption, Impeachment: American Crime Story, and The Sex Life of College Girls. She recently finished filming Tapawingo, a comedy featuring Billy Zane, Jon Heder, Gina Gershon, and John Ratzenberger.

In an exclusive interview with TV Cheddar, Matula talked about her work, her passion for advocacy, and what it was like to make her first Hallmark movie.

TVC: You were on The Bold and the Beautiful for six years and you were even nominated for an Emmy for your portrayal of Hope Logan. What did working on a soap opera teach you, both about acting and about show business?

Kim Matula: Working on B&B was such a wonderful introduction into the world of acting. It provided so much. The best thing I got from it though is after seeing myself on screen day after day, I learned what I needed to work on as an actor. Sometimes what I’d be feeling inside, wouldn’t translate onto the screen the way I thought it would. Particularly feelings of anger. I remember seeing an episode pretty early on where I had to be really angry and it just did not translate! I was shocked. It was a wake-up call that I guess I suppress those feelings! So, it was all a big learning process and a great way to hone my acting skills.

TVC: Your social media accounts show that you are a passionate advocate for animal welfare and the Black Lives Matter movement. Why is advocacy so important to you?

Kim Matula: I am a huge advocate for everyone being treated with dignity and respect. No one is better than anyone else. We all have families and friends that we love more than anything and the grief we feel when a loved one is taken, is the same grief. It’s deep and it lasts forever. I often look around and am so disheartened by the world. To ignore the realities of the lives around us that are brutally kept at a disadvantage, especially so the lives of a select few can be propped up, is not a reality I can accept. We have to be a more empathetic society.

TVC: You have tackled some serious material in your career as an actress, from your work on The Bold and the Beautiful to your work on 9-1-1 Lone Star. But in the film Tapawingo — and on your social media feed — you prove you are a skilled comedienne. What was it like putting those skills to use with some of the best in the business?

Kim Matula: Comedy has always been my first love. The decision to leave Bold was not easy but ultimately I did it so I could pursue comedy. And I’ve been very fortunate to have gotten to explore and play on comedies like LA to Vegas and Tapawingo. And even a little bit in Ghosts of Christmas Always! Having other skilled comedians to work off of truly brings me a sense of joy that can be hard to find.

TVC: Hallmark Christmas movies have become an institution. They are watched by audiences around the world and have inspired many imitations. Why do you think people find these stories so compelling? Was there anything that surprised you about working on a Hallmark movie?

Kim Matula: Hallmark movies are so beloved! I’m thrilled to finally be in one. To quote my aunt, an avid Hallmark movie viewer, “There’s no nasty language and people are just nice.” It’s hard to be inundated daily with the tragedies of the world. These films are a reminder that not everything has to be so dark. These movies fill you with cheer and immediately make you feel cozy.

TVC: Is there any particular message you hope audiences take away from Ghosts of Christmas Always?

Kim Matula: I think a good takeaway from this movie is that love can present itself at any time and in many different ways. Especially when you least expect it. Sometimes you just have to loosen the reins and let life come to you. It can surprise you in all sorts of beautiful ways.

Will there be a Season 7 of Chesapeake Shores? Hallmark Channel wrapped up the sixth season of its hit series Chesapeake Shores on October 16. The finale was jam-packed with plot developments. Kevin and Sara have their baby, Evan proposed to Abby, Mick turned the family business over to Abby, Luke and Bree broke up and kinda got back together, and Megan and Mick got remarried.

Most fans were thrilled with the way the story lines wrapped up.

“Absolutely BEAUTIFUL ending to a stunning series!” wrote one Chessie on Facebook. “I sobbed my heart out.”

Some have already decided that six seasons isn’t enough. There are already two petitions on Change.org asking for Hallmark — or Great American Family — to renew the series for Season 7.

Season 7 of Chesapeake Shores

Chesapeake Shores has been a staple of Hallmark programming since it premiered in 2016. Based on the best-selling books by author Sherryl Woods, the show followed a single mother (Meghan Ory), who returns to her small coastal hometown following a divorce. She is immediately thrown back into the drama of her large family and she reconnects with ex-boyfriend Trace Riley, who was played by Jesse Metcalfe. The show also starred Dianne Ladd as the family’s formidable matriarch, Nell O’Brien, and Barbara Niven and Treat Williams as Abby’s parents. Brendan Penny, Emilie Ullerup, Laci Mailey, Jessica Sipos, and Andrew Francis also starred in the show.

Fans are petitioning for Season 7 of the Hallmark series Chesapeake Shores.

For six seasons fans watched the O’Brien family navigate the ups and downs of their lives. Metcalfe dropped out of the series shortly before filming began on Season 5. After his character left town, a handsome, eccentric billionaire (played by Robert Buckley) turned up in Chesapeake Shores. He eventually won over Abby with his charms.

‘Comforting and entertaining’

Some fans have decided that more seasons of the show are needed. So far, two petitions have been started on Change.org to save the series.

“‘Chesapeake Shores’ is a family-friendly, family-oriented, comforting and entertaining show that we’d love to see renewed by Hallmark Channel or picked up by another network (Great American Family?)” reads the text of one of two petitions on Change.org. “It’s perfect for the entire family to watch and has an extremely loyal following, even as it closes out its 6th year. For anyone who thinks you can never go home, this show inspires otherwise. And in these trying times, people need this type of uplifting programming to remind them of what’s important. We’re hoping that the producers will either convince Hallmark to change course and renew them for a 7th season, create a spinoff with many of the same characters, or else convince another outlet to pick them up.”

The text of the second petition reads, “For six seasons we have followed the O’Brien family and seen them through many ups and downs. The show can’t end now. Not when there are so many stories left to tell such as Jess and David having a baby and Connor and Margaret representing Dennis Peck for his trial. Please sign this petition so we can see this and so much more. We need this show back. If not for more seasons than at least for a few movies.”

The petitions can be accessed here and here.

Chessies, what do you think? Do we need more of the O’Brien family?

James Denton thinks there’s a good chance for a return of Good Witch. In a recent interview, the actor said the odds are decent that Hallmark could bring Good Witch back for another movie or another season.

“I think there’s a chance. I know [with] the popularity of the show and the circumstances under which it ended sort of abruptly that it would not surprise me if we revisit it,” said Denton, who played Dr. Sam Radford in the show and the movies that made up the Good Witch franchise.

Return of Good Witch

Fans have been clamoring for a return of Good Witch since the show was abruptly canceled in July 2021. Only three episodes of Season 7 were left to air when Hallmark announced it would not renew it for another season.

“Good Witch has enchanted viewers for over a decade,” said Randy Pope, Hallmark’s senior vice president of programming and development. “We…extend our gratitude and thanks to the entire cast and crew for their dedication and hard work.”

Fans felt blindsided by the decision, especially since it seemed to come out of nowhere. They immediately began several petitions on change.org and began sending letters and emails to Hallmark asking the network to keep the show on the air.

When the series became popular on Netflix, fans asked the streaming platform to consider making the show. Fans also approached Bill Abbott, former Hallmark CEO, asking him to consider reviving the show on Great American Family, a new network he recently started.

After a year of campaigning, fans thought they had made progress when a Hallmark exec hinted at a return of the franchise.

During an appearance at the Television Critics Association Summer Press Tour, Lisa Hamilton-Daly, executive vice president of programming at Hallmark Media, told reporters the network was considering what to do with several of its franchises.

“As far as Good Witch, I think we’re always interested in thinking about what we can do with our most popular IP,” Hamilton-Daly said.

Catherine Bell weighs in

Catherine Bell, who played Cassie Nightingale in the movies and the show, sparked excitement in a recent video on the Cameo app in which she said a movie might be in the works.

“Hopefully we’ll get a movie done here one of these days and bring all those characters back,” Bell said in her message to two fans who recently got married. “That is the hope we are working on but we’ll see if it actually happens but working on it.”

Denton confirmed the possibility of a Good Witch return during an interview with TV Insider to promote his latest Hallmark film, Perfect Harmony.

“Nobody’s made me an offer,” he clarified. “There’s nothing in the works, but I think the odds are decent just because I know the network respects the franchise. It ran for 14 years between the movies and the series. So I think there’s a decent chance, but I had to say in the same breath there is nothing in the immediate works.”

But Jeremy can’t believe such a beautiful woman would fall for him. As the two continue to bump into each other, Jeremy tries to summon the courage to ask Noelle out.

This is the second movie that Hall and Sevier have made together for Hallmark. The two starred in Road Trip Romance, which was released in May 2022.

“I had the best time shooting this film with my favorite crew in Ottawa,” Hall wrote in an Instagram post promoting the film. “Hilarious cast! And with the wonderful director @thesamanthawan leading the way.”

Fans tuned in to the Chesapeake Shores series finale on Sunday for one last evening with the O’Brien family. In the final episode of Season 6, “All Or Nothing,” Chessies met Kevin and Sara’s new baby, saw Evan propose to Abby, and watched Megan and Mick say “I do” all over again.

“Just watched the finale,” wrote one fan on Facebook. “Sad to see it sign off, but an awesome closing show to a wonderful, enjoyable series. Great writing, great acting, and great crew. Thank you for all the evenings of lovely entertainment you have given us!”

“Absolutely BEAUTIFUL ending to a stunning series!” wrote another fan. “I sobbed my heart out.”

Chesapeake Shores series finale

The series finale was jam-packed with both action and emotion. After struggling with fertility issues and a miscarriage, Kevin and Sara had a healthy baby boy and named him Mick.

Mick Sr. then turned over the family business to Abby with the parting advice not to let it take over her life. Evan asked Abby to marry him. Luke broke Bree’s heart, before showing up at Mick and Megan’s wedding, giving audiences hope that they might make it after all.

Mick and Megan’s wedding went off without a hitch. The couple seemed to have resolved their issues and were planning to travel the world after their big day.

A fond farewell

A Good Witch movie might be in the works. The star of the hit Hallmark franchise, Catherine Bell, told fans in a message on the Cameo app that she hopes to do one more film in the series.

“Hopefully we’ll get a movie done here one of these days and bring all those characters back,” Bell said in her message to two fans who recently got married. “That is the hope we are working on but we’ll see if it actually happens but working on it.”

Good Witch movie

The franchise got its start with the 2008 film The Good Witch. Bell starred in the movie as a mysterious woman named Cassie Nightingale who moved to the small town of Middleton. Though the locals were wary of her at first, she eventually wins them over with her kindness and good advice.

Hallmark went on to make a series of movies featuring the characters and in 2015, it debuted a TV series about Cassie Nightingale and her family. The show ran for seven seasons on Hallmark. The network shocked fans when it announced in July 2021 that the show was being canceled.

“Good Witch has enchanted viewers for over a decade,” said Randy Pope, Hallmark’s senior vice president of programming and development. “We…extend our gratitude and thanks to the entire cast and crew for their dedication and hard work.”

Fans mounted a worldwide campaign to get the show back on the air, appealing to Hallmark, Netflix, and Great American Family, a new network founded by former Hallmark CEO Bill Abbott.

Fresh hope

After a year of campaigning, fans thought they had made progress when a Hallmark exec hinted at a return of the franchise.

During an appearance at the Television Critics Association Summer Press Tour, Lisa Hamilton-Daly, executive vice president of programming at Hallmark Media, told reporters the network was considering what to do with several of its franchises.

“As far as Good Witch, I think we’re always interested in thinking about what we can do with our most popular IP,” Hamilton-Daly said.

Bell’s recent Cameo message has fans hopeful that they might see their favorite cast again.

In the video, which Bell recorded for two fans who recently got married, the actress said she always aspires to be like Good Witch’s Cassie.

“I’m always inspired by her and I always try to be more like her,” Bell said.

Author Janette Oke shared a faith-filled, heartwarming message with fans of the hit series When Calls the Heart during a recent appearance at Hope Valley Days. Oke, who wrote the book series that inspired the Hallmark series, spoke to Hearties at an annual event that allows fans to tour the set and meet the stars, crew, and creators of the show.

During a question-and-answer session with fans, Oke was asked what she hoped future generations would take away from the stories told on When Calls the Heart.

“I hope it still makes people connect,” Oke said. “Those emotional needs as individuals are to be shared. If we hold them to ourselves often we stagnate or we go in the wrong direction or we don’t understand our neighbor.”

When Calls the Heart fan reunion

Hope Valley Days takes place on the set of the Hallmark show. Over the course of two days, fans were able to explore the town of Hope Valley and meet the people who bring the show to the small screen.

When Calls the Heart, which debuted on Hallmark Channel in 2014, has amassed a huge following of loyal fans who refer to themselves as “Hearties.” Based on a series of books by Oke, they tell the story of a wealthy young woman who moves to a small coal-mining community to work as a teacher. The books and the show are filled with messages of faith, hope, and kindness.

In a recent interview with JLJ Media, the show’s co-creator, Brian Bird, described the show as a healing agent.

“I think we’re doing good work and I think we’re doing the right work on the show, but it’s not because of us, it’s that the audience is starved to death for this,” he said. “And when you give people food, they will just love you, they’ll be so loyal to you. And that’s why the audience keeps coming back every Sunday night. Shows this deep into their lifespan can get old, can get long in the tooth, and we’re not yet.”

During her appearance at the convention, Oke — who is a devout Christian — said that God created us to be part of a community and that she hopes the stories told by the characters of Hope Valley continue to help people come together.

“Because even though our world changes — maybe we’ll be living on the moon — we still will be people and we still will those needs,” she said.

Though it’s not the vacation they had in mind, the women try to make the best of the situation. They soon find themselves learning more than they expected at the hands of the retreat leader, Ariella (played by Samantha Beaulieu), a descendent of the Gullah Geechee people of Edisto Island.

Samara meets Kareem, a handsome Gullah doctor with a secret dream of becoming a chef. She starts to listen to the call of her inner artist and finds herself painting again for the first time in years.

Actress Alison Sweeney has signed a multi-picture deal to produce and star in content for the Hallmark Channel.

“Alison Sweeney has been an incredible creative partner for us over the years – both on screen as well as behind the camera as a producer,” said Lisa Hamilton Daly, executive vice president of programming at Hallmark Media. “She’s long been a fan favorite and we can’t wait to continue our work together as we bring new stories to life.”

“I am thrilled to continue to work with Hallmark as they continue to support my work as an actress and as a producer,” said Sweeney in a statement through the network.

New Christmas movie

As part of the deal with Hallmark, Sweeney will appear in and serve as an executive producer for the Countdown to Christmas movie “A Magical Christmas Village.”

According to a synopsis from Hallmark, Sweeney plays Summer, an architect living in a small town where she’s raising her young daughter, Chloe. When her mother Vivian (played by Marlo Thomas), moves in, she sets up an heirloom miniature Christmas village resembling their town, and tells Chloe it grants Christmas wishes. As Chloe begins setting up the figurines, real-life events seem to mimic the scenes she creates, including Summer’s chance meeting with Ryan (Luke Macfarlane), a newcomer to their community. Ryan and Summer learn they share much in common. As they spend more time together, Ryan slowly helps Summer learn to open her heart to love again. Meanwhile, living under the same roof gives Summer and Vivian the chance to mend fences as the holiday nears and, perhaps with a little help from the magic of the Christmas village, the family will be brought closer together.

Candace Cameron Bure announced that her first project for Great American Family, a network started by former Hallmark CEO Bill Abbott, is a Christmas movie that will be released in November.

“SO HAPPY to announce that Candy Rock Entertainment is underway with their first Christmas movie of the season starring…me,” she wrote in an Instagram post promoting the movie.

The film is titled “A Christmas…Present.” According to a synopsis from the network, Bure plays real estate agent Maggie Larson, “an overly scheduled real estate agent and Type-A mom who takes her family to spend Christmas with her widowed brother and his daughter.”

Though Maggie and her brother have different expectations for the holiday, Maggie learns to slow down and appreciate Christmas.

“A Christmas … Present is about slowing down enough to recognize what’s right in front of our eyes,” Bure said in a statement to People. “The hustle and bustle of the Christmas season will arrive before we know it but it’s through the quiet moments that we hear God speak to us, directing our path to what’s most important.”

Candace Cameron Bure production company

The movie is the first to be produced by Bure’s Candy Rock Entertainment. In April, the actress announced a partnership between Candy Rock and Great American Media to create content for its two networks, Great American Family and Great American Living.

“I am thrilled to be kicking off our partnership with a must-see film like A Christmas…Present, which will delight our fans this holiday season and is indicative of the memorable movies and family-friendly entertainment that Great American Media is looking forward to creating with Candace and the Candy Rock team,” said Bill Abbott, president and CEO of Great American Media.

New partnership

Bure shocked fans when she announced she would be leaving Hallmark Media to work with Great American Family.

“I’m very excited to develop heartwarming family and faith-filled programming and make the kind of stories my family and I love to watch,” Bure said in a statement through the network.

The actress starred in more than 40 movies for Hallmark, including the Aurora Teagarden Mysteries.

Will the charade end with Darby and Jake coming clean and going their separate ways, or will the competition rekindle their romance?”

In a recent interview, Bennett talked about the fun he had as an executive producer on the film.

“Getting to see my crazy ideas come to life on the screen, and actually come to fruition was so rewarding. I love executive producing now, it gives me the chance to let my crazy ideas come to the screen,” he said.

Filming has begun on Season 10 of When Calls the Heart, and cast members appear to be having a great time on set. Erin Krakow, Andrea Brooks, Ava Grace Cooper, and Chris McNally have been posting pics and videos on Instagram of all the fun they’re having behind the scenes.

In a 17-second clip Jack Wagner shared, he and Erin Krakow pretend to be lost in the woods. “Whaaa? wheeer? whooo? What’s happening??” he wrote in the caption. “Lost not to be found?”

In the video, he says, “Any clue why Bill and Elizabeth would be trudging through the wilderness? You’ll have to wait for the premiere of Season 10 of When Calls the Heart.”

Cast members Andrea Brooks and Pascale Hutton responded in the comments.

“Remind me NEVER to go into the woods with either of you!!! 😂” Hutton wrote.

“Blair Witch vibes!” added Andrea Brooks.

Season 10 of When Calls the Heart

Filming began in July on the new season and production is expected to wrap up in November. The show is filmed on MacInnes Farms in Langley, British Columbia, which is located near Vancouver in western Canada. (The farm has a great Facebook page, which can be found here.)

When Calls the Heart

Sara and Kevin have good news on Chesapeake Shores. In the episode “That’s All There is to That” Sara (Jessica Sipos) surprised Kevin (Brendan Penny) with the announcement.

“…Sometimes there isn’t the ‘right time’ to share certain news, you know?” she said. …“I’m determined not to be terrified or stressed by the ‘what-ifs.”

Sara and Kevin have good news

Sara and Kevin have faced a long road when it comes to fertility. In Season 5, Sara found out that she had endometriosis and might not be able to get pregnant.

“I haven’t even worked up the nerve to tell Kevin yet,” she confided in Jess.

Jess replied, “One way or another you will find a way to fill your arms with babies.”

After Sara told Kevin, they went to another doctor for a second opinion. This time, the doctor told the couple they could still have children. She said to try for another six months and then if they had no luck, they could look at other options.

Soon after, Sara fell off a ladder. At the hospital, she found out she was pregnant. Kevin and Sara were overjoyed to find out they were expecting. But their happiness turned to grief when she suffered a miscarriage soon after.

Hard times

Both Kevin and Sara were devastated. Sara told Kevin she didn’t want anyone to find out, but he ended up telling his parents. Sara was furious until Meg told her she had her own miscarriage.

This time when Sara shared the news about her pregnancy, she said she was going to try not to worry about what was to come.

“We have to promise each other that we’ll just move forward, be positive and just hope for the best,” she said. “I’m determined not to be terrified or stressed by the what-ifs.”

Two Netflix Christmas movies — one starring Lindsay Lohan, another starring Freddie Prinze Jr. — are scheduled for release in November. The streaming platform has been releasing Christmas rom-coms (similar to the ones on Hallmark) for several years now.

Netflix Christmas movies

Netflix announced it was working on a Christmas film with Lohan over the summer. In a tweet released by the streaming platform, it revealed that Lohan will star in Falling For Christmas, playing a spoiled hotel heiress who has an accident while skiing and develops amnesia. She ends up in the care of a handsome ski lodge owner (played by Chord Overstreet) and his precocious daughter.

The movie will be directed by Janeen Damian, who directed the Hallmark Channel film The Christmas Waltz.

Falling For Christmas is one of two romantic comedies Lohan will make with Netflix. The other, Irish Wish, will be released in 2023.

“We’re so happy with our collaboration with Lindsay to date, and we’re thrilled to continue our partnership with her. We look forward to bringing more of her films to our members around the world,” said Christina Rogers, Netflix’s director of Independent Film.

Christmas With You

Another movie coming to Netflix in November is Christmas With You, starring Aimee Garcia and Freddie Prinze Jr. Garcia plays a burned-out pop star who goes to a small town to grant a young fan’s wish. She finds the inspiration she needs to revitalize her career and also gets a shot at true love.

Netflix has been making Christmas movies for several years now. In 2020, the company made headlines when it released Dolly Parton’s Christmas On the Square and Holidate, starring Emma Roberts, Luke Bracey, and Kristin Chenoweth

Other Netflix holiday titles include Operation Christmas Drop (2020), starring Kat Graham, Alexander Ludwig, and Virginia Madsen; California Christmas (2020); Castle for Christmas (2021); Love Hard (2021); and The Princess Switch (2018).

The company is one of many getting into the Christmas movie game. In December 2021, CBS released the original movies “Christmas Takes Flight” and “A Christmas Proposal.” This year, the network is making three holiday movies: Must Love Christmas, Fit For Christmas, and When Christmas Was Young.

Earlier this year, Discovery+ announced it would release four holiday movies for streaming in November. The films will feature HGTV stars Ben and Erin Napier and Hilary Farr, as well as Food Network stars Bobby Flay and Duff Goldman.

In the movie, Busby plays a photographer who needs help navigating the wilderness while on assignment in Yosemite National Park. Harlow plays an off-the-grid nature guide who agrees to help her out.

“To shoot in a place like Yosemite was awe-inspiring,” Harlow said in a recent interview. “It’s one of the wonders of the world, it really is. You really feel a spiritual sense there, it really has that gravity of power to it. To wake up every day and know that I was filming a movie at Yosemite was awesome.”

Both actors shared a brief video on Instagram showing a few behind-the-scenes moments.

“This is what @sweet_t_6 had to deal with while working with me on #marrymeinyosemite,” Busby wrote in the caption. “We had a BLAST and I know you’re all gonna absolutely love this movie and especially love this hilariously talented human!”

New Hallmark movie

According to a synopsis from Hallmark, Busby stars as Zoe, a photographer known for her “Zoe’s Best” series of books that showcase pictures of famous cities. But when her publisher suggests she make one about Yosemite National Park, Zoe finds herself out of her depth.

When she arrives, she is awed by the park’s beauty but is having trouble navigating her way around. A park guide suggests she work with Jack (played by Harlow) a conservationist and former rock climber who likes to stay off the grid. They work together and begin to develop romantic feelings for each other. Zoe explains that she wants to take the kind of photo that shows she is a true artist. But will her desire for perfection could cost her more than she is willing to give up?

About the stars

Cindy Busby is a Hallmark fan favorite, having appeared in two different series for the network: Cedar Cove (as Rebecca Jennings) and When Calls the Heart (as Marlise Bennett). She has also starred in the Hallmark movies A Godwink Christmas: Meant For Love, Heart of Down Under, Wedding March 5: My Boyfriend’s Back, Chasing Waterfalls, and Romance in the Air. Will Diane Ladd be back for the final season of Chesapeake Shores? Chessies have been asking after her since the show’s premiere.

“Where is Nell??” one fan wrote on Facebook. “It’s not the same without her.”

The sixth and final season of the popular Hallmark series Chesapeake Shores premiered on August 14. While fans were thrilled to see the O’Briens again, many have chimed in on social media that they miss the family’s matriarch.

“Everything she says is profound,” another fan wrote. “She is an amazing woman.”

Will Diane Ladd be back?

Hallmark has not said whether Ladd will return this season. On the show, her character is making a trip to Ireland. Fans say they have missed her presence, as well as the bits of wisdom she regularly dispatches, which fans call “Nell’s Nuggets.”

“You should always like who you love, but you don’t always have to love who you like,” is one. “The love you share around the table is often more important than the meal you have on top of it,” is another.

(Image: Hallmark Media)

Ladd, who will turn 87 in September, has portrayed Nell since the show premiered on Hallmark Channel in 2016. In an interview to promote the series, she called Nell O’Brien “a lady of wisdom.”

“And some morality,” she added. “…She’s gentle. She’s a harmonizer. She loves family. And that’s kind of nice and she brings the family together. So her modus operandi is love.”

About Diane Ladd

Ladd has won more than 35 awards for acting in her lifetime, including a British Academy Award, a Golden Globe Award, an Independent Spirit Film Award, and the Cannes’ Palme d’Or Award. She has also been nominated for three Academy Awards. She has been nominated for three Emmy Awards and three Academy Awards for the films Alice Doesn’t Live Here Anymore, Wild at Heart, and Rambling Rose.

She has also written the books “Spiraling Through the School of Life – A Mental Physical and Spiritual Discovery,” and “Find Your Miracles.”

A native of Mississippi, Ladd attended finishing school in New Orleans, where she also launched her acting career. She is a distant cousin of Tennessee Williams.

In a 2013 interview, she lamented the quality of television being made following the cancelation of her series Enlightened.

“I can’t tell you how many people when I’m doing my book signings come up to me and say, ‘Why, why, why did they take that series off? It was the best series,’” she said. “You know how bad TV is today. It would be nice if we could get some more great shows on it. And it’d be nice if we can get some great shows where nobody’s being killed, tortured, or murdered.”

Fans of the canceled Hallmark series Good Witch are angry after a network exec mentioned the series in a recent interview but then failed to respond to questions about whether the series was coming back.

“I can’t announce anything specific about that. And that also holds for Signed, Sealed, Delivered.”

The comment set off a wave of speculation on social media about whether Good Witch was being brought back. The show was canceled in July 2021. Since then, fans have been petitioning to get the show back on the air. In addition to asking Hallmark to revive the series, members of the Save Good Witch campaign have directed inquiries to Netflix and Great American Family, a new network started by Hallmark’s former CEO Bill Abbott.

Good Witch fans accuse Hallmark of lying about the show for publicity.
A fan weighs in on Twitter

Good Witch publicity

Following Hamilton-Daly’s comments, fans began contacting Hallmark to see if the show was coming back. But Goodies say they were met with form responses, silence, or even blocking of their emails.

Now fans are convinced that Hallmark mentioned the show just for publicity.

“Tired of you hinting around. Make the proper decisions for #Goodies, cast & crew,” one fan wrote on Facebook

“You cancelled #GOODWITCH because it ‘reached a natural conclusion’ but now you are ‘thinking about what we can do with it’… WHAT ARE YOU PLAYING?!” wrote another.

Another fan weighs in.

About the show

Good Witch ran from 2015 to 2021 on Hallmark Channel. The show was a spinoff of a series of movies the network made starring actress Catherine Bell. In the first of the movies, a mysterious woman moves to a small town named Middleton and takes up residence in an allegedly haunted house. Though the locals are wary of her at first, her kindness and charm win them over.

For many fans, it was the spiritual message behind the story lines that inspired them. On some social media posts, fans shared their favorite quotes from the series, including, “Taking a step in a new direction doesn’t have to be perfect, it just needs to be a step,” and, “If you spend too much time thinking about what’s bad, you may lose what’s good.”

Actress and mental health advocate Chyler Leigh has joined the cast of the new Hallmark series The Way Home. She joins Andie MacDowell, who starred in Hallmark’s Cedar Cove, and Sadie Laflamme-Snow in the cast.

“Took time off to work hard on myself,” she wrote in an Instagram post. “It’s not been easy. Letting go of the past can be quick or a lifelong journey. But it’s a journey that is so so worth the climb. My thanks to those who have helped me along the way. I’m standing on a new mountain top and am so excited for what’s on the horizon. @hallmarkchannel #TheWayHome #KatLandry … here we go.”

New series

Leigh, who played Dr. Lexie Grey on the series Grey’s Anatomy, was diagnosed with bipolar disorder at the age of 29 after voluntarily checking herself into a hospital.

“I was so terrified because of my past,” she said in an interview with Prevention. “I was so worried about turning into all of the things I hated when I was growing up, but it was life or death. I was going to make a change, or I wouldn’t be here anymore.”

About 7 million Americans live with bipolar disorder, according to the National Alliance on Mental Illness. A person going through a manic episode may feel elated, energized, and reckless, while a depressive episode can result in total loss of energy, trouble concentrating, and feelings of hopelessness.

Leigh said she first noticed the signs as an adolescent when the sound of clinking dishes filled her with rage. She also experienced recklessness, mood swings, and trouble sleeping. She said she suppressed her feelings for years.

“I closed off and developed a shell around me,” she said.

The actress threw herself into her work and into the responsibility of raising three children. Eventually, she became overwhelmed.

“I was constantly hiding layers of myself, trying to come off as pretty and palatable,” she says. “I wanted to pass off as ‘I’m doing fine,’ but when I went to the hospital it was very clear that I was not.”

Leigh has been an outspoken advocate for people affected by mental illness. She has also kept busy as an actress, starring in TV shows such as Supergirl and The Flash.

The Way Home

Filming has already begun on The Way Home. In the series, Leigh plays Kat Landry, who has been estranged from her mother (played by MacDowell) for so long that she’s never even introduced her to her daughter, Alice (played by Sadie Laflamme-Snow). According to a synopsis from Hallmark, the three women are thrown together by unforeseen circumstances and “embark on an enlightening journey to find their way back to each other and learn important lessons about their family’s past.”

The series will premiere in 2023.

Fans anticipating the Season 10 premiere of the beloved Hallmark series When Calls the Heart have been left hanging after a network executive said the show will air sometime in the middle of 2023.

Lisa Hamilton-Daly, Hallmark Media’s executive vice president of programming, didn’t give a specific date for the premiere. But fans have become accustomed to seeing the first episodes in February. Last year, Hallmark saw pushback when the show didn’t premiere until March 6.

Season 10 of When Calls the Heart

The moment Chessies have been waiting for is right around the corner! After a drama-filled Season 5 finale, fans have been desperate to find out what is going on with the O’Brien family. Here is everything we know so far about Season 6:

1. Connor is Alive (Woo hoo!)

Perhaps the most shocking moment of the Season 5 finale was when Connor O’Brien (Andrew Francis) collapsed in the driveway of the O’Brien house while talking with his paralegal Margaret. He had been battling stress and a bad heart all season, following a legal battle with his former employer.

But previews for Season 6 show the handsome guy tucked up in a hospital bed with his family around him. Don’t know if he’s going to have any more cardiac episodes, but for now, he is safe.

2. There’s a new Margaret in town

In Season 5, Connor met a gorgeous, brilliant paralegal at his new firm. When he decided to set up his own practice, she helped. They also shared a lot of lingering glances and one very sweet kiss.

While Margaret is back, this season she is played by actress Mariesa Crouse.

Treat Williams and Barbara Niven introduced her in a video they posted to Instagram. The three went hiking on a day off from filming, and then found an amazing donut shop that they raved about:

3. Abby picked Evan….maybe?

At the end of Season 5, Abby told her sister she had finally decided between the two men who were interested in dating her. In true cliffhanger style, she didn’t reveal to the audience whether she chose mild-mannered schoolteacher Jay or zany billionaire man-child Evan.

Fast forward to two weeks ago, when Hallmark released a clip that shows a luxurious yacht anchored in the water in front of the O’Brien house. Evan appears in a tux and Abby comes down to meet him in….sweats.

“I don’t think I’m dressed for this date,” Abby says.

“You have never looked lovelier,” he replies.

(Swoon.)

The next thing you know, she is in a green ball gown and the two are dancing aboard the boat. Case closed. Or is it?

We all know how much Hallmark likes to keep us guessing. Could this scene just be a dream sequence? Will we find out that it was just something Abby imagined while she and Jay were waiting for a table to open up at Golden Corral?

4. Luke and Bree are together. Probably

Another preview shows Bree (Emilie Ullerup) and her high-school friend Luke (Stephen Huszar) walking hand-in-hand. Luke returned to Chesapeake Shores last season and began working at The Bridge. He finally admitted to Bree that he had been in prison and that he was still on parole. If Bree had any misgivings, she appears to have gone over them. The two looked quite cozy in the Season 6 previews.

Seven things we know about Season 6 of Chesapeake Shores. (Image: Crown Media)
Connor lives! (Image: Crown Media)

5. Mick and Meg are back on

Season 5 was a strange one for Mic (Treat Williams) and Meg (Barbara Niven). The couple, who divorced when their children were little, grew steadily closer until they announced they were getting back together as a couple. But when Meg had a chance to work at a prestigious gallery in California, Mick became angry. He also appeared to be abusing the pain meds he was prescribed following an accident with his plane.

But in the clips Hallmark has released, the two appear to be back on track, and there are no signs of Mick needing rehab. Yay.

6. David’s dad is on the run

In Season 5, Jess (Laci Mailey) and David (Carlo Marks) were shocked to find out his father had stolen money from his trust fund. It turns out his father had been accused of some illegal dealings and has fled the country.

In a Season 6 preview, David receives a phone call from his dad. Will this turn out to be a misunderstanding or is Dennis Peck looking at extradition and hard time?

7. Kevin and Sarah are hanging in there

In Season 5, Sarah (Jessica Sipos) had a miscarriage. She was so devastated she asked Kevin (Brendan Penny) not to tell anyone, but he ended up confessing to his parents. Sarah was furious until Meg came to visit and told her that she too had a miscarriage. That moment of understanding served to heal some of the bad feelings between Kevin and Sarah, but it will be interesting to see where are now. Could there be a Baby O’Brien by the end of the season?

Season 6 of Chesapeake Shores will premiere on Hallmark Channel on Sunday, August 14 at 8/7c.

A top Hallmark executive made a cryptic comment at a recent industry event hinting at the return of Hallmark’s Good Witch and Signed, Sealed, Delivered movie series. During an appearance at the Television Critics Association summer press tour, Lisa Hamilton-Daly, executive vice president of programming at Crown Media Family Networks, told reporters the network was considering what to do with several of its franchises.

“As far as Good Witch, I think we’re always interested in thinking about what we can do with our most popular IP,” Hamilton-Daly said. “I can’t announce anything specific about that. And that also holds for Signed, Sealed, Delivered.”

Return of Good Witch?

Fans were shocked by the comment. In July 2021, Hallmark announced it was canceling the beloved TV series Good Witch with only three episodes left in Season 7.

“Good Witch has enchanted viewers for over a decade,” said Randy Pope, Hallmark’s senior vice president of programming and development, in a statement from the network. “We…extend our gratitude and thanks to the entire cast and crew for their dedication and hard work.”

What's on the Hallmark schedule this weekend?Signed, Sealed, Delivered: The Vows We Have Made.

Since then, fans have worked tirelessly to get the show back on the air. In addition to launching campaigns on social media, they have approached Netflix and even a new network started by former Crown Media CEO Bill Abbott, asking for someone to pick up where Hallmark left off.

Hamilton-Daly’s comment sent off a wave of speculation among Goodies about whether the network was hinting at bringing the series back.

“Yes. PLEASE,” wrote one fan on the Facebook page Save Good Witch.

“There’s an established audience base and built-in anticipation so what are you waiting for?” another wrote.

Signed, Sealed, Delivered

Hamilton-Daly’s words also set off speculation among POstables (fans of Signed, Sealed, Delivered) that another movie might be in the works. The latest in the 12-movie franchise, Signed, Sealed, Delivered: The Vows We Have Made aired in October 2021.

Created by Touched By An Angel’s Martha Williamson, the movies followed the work of four employees in the postal service’s Lost Letters Department. The films star Eric Mabius, Kristin Booth, Crystal Lowe, and Geoff Gustafson.

In a bid to assume a larger role in the family’s publishing empire, Derek becomes determined to learn everything he can about the fashion industry. Ella agrees to teach him what she knows.

“Ella and Derek come from two different worlds but are somehow drawn to one another,” reads a synopsis from Hallmark. “Can they work past their differences to overcome unexpected work obstacles and expectations of what makes a conventional couple, proving love can be found where you least expect it?”

Body-positive Hallmark movie

“We are very excited to bring our viewers this movie that celebrates self-love and self-acceptance,” said Lisa Hamilton Daly, executive vice president of Crown Media Family Networks in a statement. “We are committed to a more diverse and inclusive slate of projects, so we are happy to share a story showing that love comes in all shapes and sizes.”

“I am so thrilled to be part of this new conversation we are currently having about self-acceptance and the positive spreading of that message,” Elliot said in a statement released by the network.

“Hallmark is opening an important dialogue about female empowerment and breaking through the oh-so-thick ceiling of social misconceptions we have collectively built. Long gone is the time when it was acceptable to judge people solely on their appearance. I think it’s high time we all move on from these superficial criteria and build a healthier, more connected world in which we strive to be better at being kind and tolerant.”

The actress posted a photo on Instagram promoting the movie.

In response to her post, Hollingsworth wrote, “I had so much fun making this with you. Can’t wait for everyone to see you shine.”

Meghan Ory was pregnant while filming Season 6 of Chesapeake Shores. The actress announced the news on Instagram in a post celebrating the end of shooting Season 6 of Chesapeake Shores.

“I started this season with #hyperemesisgravidarum and ended it with #covid — it has been quite the run!,” she wrote, “thank you so much to our amazing cast and crew for having so much patience with me while I tried not to barf on anyone.”

Ory, 39, has a son with her husband, actor John Reardon. In an Instagram post announcing the birth of her son, Ory shared a photo of herself right before he was born.

“Feeling very grateful to say goodbye to my built in coffee table and hello to Baby who is here and healthy! So much gratitude this #canadianthanksgiving,” she wrote.

Months later, she shared a photo of herself feeding her son.

“Anyone else get the #breastfeeding face smash?! #momlife,” she wrote.

Meghan Ory pregnant

Ory’s fans and her castmates responded with enthusiasm to the news that she is expecting.

“BRAVA bella,” one wrote in a response to the post. “You are strength incarnate.”

Robert Buckley, who plays Ory’s love interest on Chesapeake Shores, replied with, “You are unstoppable.”

Ory has played Abby O’Brien on the hit Hallmark series since it debuted in 2016. Based on a series of books by Sherryl Woods, the show followed a single mother (Ory), who returns to her small hometown in Maryland following a divorce. She is thrown right back into the drama of her large Irish family and reconnects with her ex-boyfriend Trace Riley, who was played by Jesse Metcalfe on the series.

Fans were shocked when Metcalfe announced he was leaving the series shortly before filming began on Season 5.

“I just felt that there wasn’t really anything else I could do with the character,” he said in an interview.

Writers introduced a new character in Season 5, an eccentric billionaire developer who falls for Abby despite their widely different personalities.

About Meghan Ory

In the 42-second clip, Wagner thanks fans for their love and support following the death of his son Harrison.

Jack Wagner is returning to When Calls the Heart

Fans became concerned about Wagner’s future on the hit Hallmark series following several recent developments, including the death of his son. Harrison Wagner was found dead on June 6 in Los Angeles. He was 27 years old. His parents established a scholarship in his name at New Life House, an addiction recovery center in California.

Some fans also speculated that Wagner was being written off the show. His character, Bill Avery, began suffering from a persistent and mysterious cough in Season 9. Dr. Faith Carter (played by Andrea Brooks) even insisted he go to the city for an X-ray, though Avery refused.

Hallmark responds

Both Wagner’s fans and his co-stars were thrilled with his Instagram announcement.

“Hurry up! Somebody has to bake the scones,” wrote Erin Krakow, who stars as Elizabeth Thornton on When Calls the Heart.

Hallmark has released a preview for the sixth and final season of Chesapeake Shores, and it looks like Abby picked Evan. In the 22-second clip, Evan (played by Robert Buckley) arrives at the O’Brien house looking all James Bond-y in a tuxedo. He has anchored a luxury yacht offshore (as you do), and Abby (Meghan Ory) comes down to the dock wearing sweats and looking embarrassed.

“I don’t think I’m dressed for this date,” Abby says.

“You have never looked lovelier,” he replies.

In the next shot, the two are slow dancing aboard the yacht, and Abby has magically changed into a green ball gown.

Swoon.

Abby picked Evan

Season 5 ended on a romantic cliffhanger for Abby. In the finale episode, she confided in her sister that she had made a choice between the two men pursuing her. One was schoolteacher Jay Ross (played by Greyston Holt) and the other was Evan Kincaid, a billionaire man-child who was one of the family’s clients.

However, she didn’t reveal her choice to the audience. Unless the clip Hallmark released is some sort of dream sequence (which would NOT be cool, Hallmark), it looks like Abby chose Evan.

Unfortunately, not all fans approve of him.

“Evan needs to leave right now,” one fan wrote on the Chesapeake Shores Facebook page. “He is not the man for Abby.”

Another agreed, but for more selfish reasons.

“Evan can make a move on me,” she wrote.

Season 6 of Chesapeake Shores

Fans were thrilled when Hallmark announced the series would come back for another season. But many were disappointed to find out it would be the show’s last.

Based on a series of novels by Sherryl Woods, the show follows a single mother (Ory) who returns to her small coastal hometown following a divorce. She immediately gets caught up in the problems of her large family. She also reconnects with her high school sweetheart, Trace Riley, who was played by Jesse Metcalfe.

Shortly before production on Season 5, Metcalfe announced he was leaving the series.

“I just felt that there wasn’t really anything else I could do with the character,” he said in an interview with Entertainment Tonight.

Writers immediately introduced a new love interest for Abby. However, she wasn’t the only one who found romance in Season 5. Connor fell for his paralegal Margaret, and Bree reconnected with a friend from high school.

The stars of the show, who have been sharing behind-the-scenes photos on social media, say the final season is going to be full of surprises.

“This is by far the best season we’ve had yet, and we hope you will love watching it as much as we loved making it,” Barbara Niven wrote in an Instagram post.

Season 6 of Chesapeake Shores will premiere on Sunday, August 14 on Hallmark Channel at 8/7c.

Christmas in July 2022 continues this weekend with the premiere of the Hallmark movie Christmas in Toyland.

“Excited to share with you all a Christmas in July special called: Christmas in Toyland,” wrote actor Jesse Hutch in a post to promote the movie on Instagram. “Everyone worked hard to bring you what I believe will be a fun-filled festive adventure that will tug on your heart strings… and yes! You will laugh. You know me… I always like to bring some comedy to the table. I play the character Grant: who is a kid at heart. Is there a slide in the film? Yes. I’ll see ya out there.”

The Hallmark movie Christmas in Toyland

Vanessa Lengies also stars in the romantic comedy, playing Charlie, a data analyst at a large toy store chain. When company executives decide to shift to an online-only model, Lengies becomes concerned about the hundreds of employees who will lose their jobs. Lengies gets permission from her boss to visit one location that has strong sales to see if there’s any way she can save the current business model.

But Grant, the manager at the store in question (played by Hutch), is less-than-receptive to her presence. It turns out he has a distrust of anyone from the corporate office and is reluctant to help her out.

But as the two spend time together, they bond over their love of toys. Charlie finds out Grant designs his own Christmas-themed toys. Together, they try to find a way to save the business using his designs.

According to a synopsis from Hallmark, “As their feelings for each other grow, they are reminded that growing up doesn’t mean losing your dreams.”

About the stars

Vanessa Lengies got her start as a child actress, performing on shows such as Caillou and 8 Simple Rules. After roles in the movies Stick It, The Substance of Things Hoped For, and The Perfect Man, she landed the role of Sugar Motta on the series Glee. She made her Hallmark debut in the 2019 movie Heart of the Holidays.

Jesse Hutch has had roles in the TV shows Heartland and Hallmark’s Cedar Cove. He also starred in the romantic comedy Snowmance, which has recently been airing on GAC Family (soon-to-be called the Great American Family network), as well as Hallmark’s Chateau Christmas.

Christmas in Toyland will premiere on Hallmark Channel on Saturday, July 23 at 8/7c.

Is Jack Wagner leaving Hallmark? Fans have been wondering about the star following several developments, including the death of his son.

During Season 9 of When Calls the Heart, Wagner’s character, Bill Avery, struggled with poor health. After several visits to Dr. Faith Carter (Andrea Brooks) for a persistent cough, she urged him to go to a nearby city for an X-ray. His symptoms suggest he had tuberculosis.

Though Wagner has been a member of the cast since the first season of When Calls the Heart, several beloved characters were written off the show last year. Jesse (Aren Buchholz) and Clara (Eva Bourne) moved to Montana to try homesteading. Dr. Carson Shepherd (Paul Greene) also left Hope Valley so he could pursue his dream of becoming a surgeon. Fans have speculated that if these characters can be written off the show, so can Wagner’s.

Is Jack Wagner leaving Hallmark?

Wagner’s other major project with Hallmark was the Wedding March film series. The actor played Mick Turner, a widower and former rock star who runs a Vermont inn. He falls for Livvy Phillips-Pershing (played by Josie Bissett), and the two end up getting married in the sixth and final movie in the series, Sealed With a Kiss: Wedding March 6, which aired in August 2021.

In an interview to promote the movie, Wagner said he was taken aback by how emotional he became filming the wedding.

“I don’t think we knew what to expect,” Wagner said. “The emotion was unbelievably raw and in the moment and real.”

A move to GAC Family?

Hearties were thrilled when Hallmark announced in June that When Calls the Heart was coming back for another season. But while other stars of the series posted about it on social media, Wagner was preoccupied with the loss of his son Harrison, who passed away at the age of 27.

Some fans have wondered if the loss will prevent Wagner from returning to the Hallmark series. Others have unearthed an October interview with the CEO of GAC Family Bill Abbott, in which he said that Jack Wagner will eventually be featured on the family-friendly network.

“He will be part of the family ultimately too,” Abbott said.

Corbin Bleu and Tori Anderson will star in Campfire Christmas, one of three new Hallmark Christmas movies premiering in July.

In the movie, Anderson and Bleu are brought back together at a summer camp reunion that is, for some reason, Christmas themed. (Not that we’re criticizing. It’s a brand-new Christmas movie. In July and it’s 1,000 degrees outside. We’re grateful for all the holiday cheer we can get.)

The original movie My Grown-Up Christmas List will premiere during Hallmark’s Christmas in July 2022 lineup. Starring real-life couple and When Calls the Heart co-stars Kayla Wallace and Kevin McGarry, it is the first of three new Christmas movies to debut this month on Hallmark.

My Grown-Up Christmas List is based on a song written by Amy Grant and David Foster. In the movie, Wallace plays a journalist Taylor Nichols and McGarry plays Luke Malone, who is in the military. According to a synopsis from the network, the movie follows “the special bond that grows between them over the course of several Christmases spent together and apart.”

Christmas in July 2022

This is the second movie that Wallace and McGarry have starred in together. In March, the pair headlined the romantic comedy Feeling Butterflies. Wallace played Emily, a lepidopterist (the scientific name for a butterfly expert) trying to build a business that releases butterflies at birthday parties and weddings.

“Which is an actual, popular thing,” Wallace said during an appearance on the Everything About Hallmark podcast. “I had no idea.”

She is hired to do a release at a birthday party for a little girl named Amanda (played by Alyssa Gervasi). Emily connects with both the birthday girl and her handsome, widowed father, Garrett (played by McGarry).

Through Garrett’s connections, she gets the opportunity to do a release at a socialite’s wedding, an event that could bring her business the publicity it desperately needs. Based on a series of books by Sherryl Woods, Chesapeake Shores debuted on Hallmark Channel in 2016. Metcalfe surprised fans when he decided not to return for Season 5 of the series. In an interview with ET, he said it was time to move on.

”Life’s all about growth,” Metcalfe said. “I tend to put myself in challenging situations because I feel like that’s the fastest way to grow. No one saw this decision coming for me to leave Chesapeake, but sometimes the hardest decisions are the best ones to make and the ones that you grow the most from.”

Season 5 finale

Season 5 ended with several cliffhangers. Connor (Andrew Francis) collapsed from a suspected heart attack. Mick (Williams) and Meg (Niven) had an argument following their reconciliation.

Abby (Ory) chose between the two men who were pursuing her, and Bree (Emilie Ullerup) started a new relationship.

Chesapeake Shores Season 6 will premiere on Sunday, August 14.

Andie MacDowell will headline a new series on Hallmark Channel. The actress, who previously starred in the Hallmark series Cedar Cove, will star as Del Landry in The Way Home. The show will begin production in Ontario over the summer and premiere in 2023.

“We’ve found our perfect Del Landry in Andie MacDowell,” began Lisa Hamilton Daly, executive vice president of programming at Crown Media Family Networks. “It was crucial to cast someone with the ability to handle the nuances and depth of the role and we can’t wait to see her bring Del to life.”

“Our viewers loved Andie MacDowell when she starred in ‘Debbie Macomber’s Cedar Cove,’ our first original primetime series,” remarked Laurie Ferneau, senior vice president of development at Crown Media Family Networks. “We couldn’t be happier to welcome her home to Hallmark Channel and we know our fans will fall in love with her all over again.”

Hallmark Channel series

From 2013 to 2015, MacDowell starred as Judge Olivia Lockhart on the Hallmark series Cedar Cove. Based on the books by Debbie Macomber, the show followed the residents of a small town on Puget Sound in Washington State. The ensemble cast also included Sarah Smyth, Dylan Neal, Teryl Rothery, Brennan Elliott, Barbara Niven, Cindy Busby, and Jesse Hutch.

Fans who were devastated when Cedar Cove was canceled were thrilled to hear about MacDowell’s return to Hallmark.

“Love her so much,” wrote one fan on Hallmark’s Facebook page. “Great news!”

“One of my favorite women!!” wrote another. “Classy, Sassy, and Southern! Have loved and seen her in everything through the decades!”

But one fan replied to the news with, “I stopped watching anything on Hallmark that was a series. They get you hooked then cancel it.”

Hallmark has canceled three series in the past 12 months. The series finale of Good Witch aired in July 2021. Home and Family aired its final episode in August 2021. The sixth and final season of Chesapeake Shores is currently in production.

The Way Home

In The Way Home, MacDowell plays the matriarch of the Landry family and a pillar of the community in her small Canadian farming town. According to a synopsis from the network:

“She and her daughter Kat have been estranged from each other following tragic events that left their family forever changed and prompted Kat to move away. When Kat unexpectedly returns many years later with her teenage daughter whom Del has never met, the three generations of women embark on an enlightening journey to find their way back to each other and learn important lessons about their family’s past.”

The series is being written by the mother-daughter team Heather Conkie and Alexandra Clarke. The pair, who wrote the script for the Disney Channel movie Harriet the Spy: Blog Wars, have also collaborated on the award-winning series Heartland.

“Celebrating the great S10 news from Italy! We’re thrilled!!!” Krakow wrote in a post featuring her castmates Kayla Wallace, Kevin McGarry, and Ben Rosenbaum.

Fans were thrilled to hear the news.

“YES!!!! I could not be happier!!! So happy for you and even more happy for us!” wrote one fan in response to the news.

“Woohoo!!!!” another wrote. “Best show ever. Congratulations to everyone!!”

When Calls the Heart has been renewed

Hallmark Channel announced the news on Friday.

“When Calls the Heart continues to push the limits as to what we can achieve with this show,” said Lisa Hamilton Daly, executive vice president of programming of Crown Media Family Networks. “There are many more stories still to be told about the lives of the beloved characters in this series and we cannot wait for everyone at home to tune in to see what unfolds.”

Hallmark recently announced it will produce two new television series, The Way Home and Ride, for primetime. Both of the shows will begin production this summer and will air in 2023.

Hallmark canceled two long-running shows — Good Witch and the lifestyle series Home and Family — in the summer of 2021. Another of the network’s shows, Chesapeake Shores, is in production for its sixth and final season.

About the show

When Calls the Heart premiered on Hallmark Channel in 2014. Based on the bestselling series by Canadian author Janette Oke, the show follows a privileged young woman (played by Krakow) who moves to a small coal-mining town to teach school. Though she struggles at first to adapt to her new way of living, she grows to love her students and the people in the small town. She also falls in love and marries the local constable.

Fans have been desperate to find out about Season 10 since the Season 9 finale aired in May. In an interview, the show’s co-creator said that the series would continue even if Hallmark didn’t produce it.

“Whether or not the Hallmark Channel wants to keep us around forever doesn’t matter,” said Brian Bird. “There will be somebody else who wants it because it is so unique. And we will keep making the show as long as those Hearties want to show up and watch the show.”

The co-creator of Hallmark Channel’s longest-running original series told fans that one way or another, there will be a Season 10 of When Calls the Heart.

“Whether or not the Hallmark Channel wants to keep us around forever doesn’t matter,” said Brian Bird in a recent interview. “There will be somebody else who wants it because it is so unique. And we will keep making the show as long as those Hearties want to show up and watch the show.”

Season 9 of the series finished in May with an action-packed finale that saw Lucas propose to Elizabeth and Rosemary share the news with Lee that they were expecting a baby.

Though fans were pleased overall with the ending, many have been left wondering when they will be able to find out what comes next. In the past, Hallmark Channel has announced a new season almost immediately following the finale. But so far, there has been no word from the network.

In his interview, Bird dropped hints that another network could pick up the series. GAC Family, which was started by former Crown Media CEO Bill Abbott, has already picked up the show’s spinoff series, When Hope Calls. But GAC Family hasn’t said whether it will pick up When Calls the Heart.

About the show

When Calls the Heart premiered on Hallmark Channel in 2014. Based on a series of books by Canadian author Janette Oke, the show followed a wealthy woman, Elizabeth Thatcher (played by Erin Krakow), who moved to a small Canadian mining town to work as a teacher. She fell in love with and eventually married a mountie — short for Royal Canadian Mounted Police — named Jack Thornton (played by Daniel Lissing).

Season 10 of When Calls the Heart

Soon after the Season 9 premiere, Bird posted a letter to social media telling fans their support would be crucial to having a Season 10.

“If indeed there is to be a season 10 and beyond of WCTH, it will be because you reached down into your hearts and found that same excitement and passion for rallying your friends and family to watch the only show on TV that celebrates hope, faith and love every week,” he wrote.

In a recent interview, the show’s front runner, John Tinker, told fans that they can expect a lot of action in the coming season.

“I just love this tenth season coming up,” Tinker said. “You’re going to have babies and weddings and people in jail and sick people.”

The Hallmark movie Hidden Gems will debut as part of the network’s Summer Nights movie lineup.

Starring Hunter King and Beau Mirchoff, the romantic comedy was filmed entirely on location in Honolulu, Hawaii. King stars as Addie, the maid of honor in her sister’s destination wedding. During a paddleboard yoga session, Addie loses an heirloom ring that belonged to her grandmother when it slips off her finger and sinks to the ocean floor.

Hysterical, Addie becomes determined to get the ring back. She hires a dive instructor (played by Mirchoff) to look for it but insists on coming along. At first, they don’t get along, but as they spend more time together, they develop feelings for each other.

The Hallmark movie Hidden Gems

In a recent interview, King said she had a blast working in Hawaii.

“My second day there I was driving to a wardrobe fitting and I missed my freeway exit and suddenly there wouldn’t be an exit for 11 miles,” she said. “So for 11 miles I was driving through the mountains surrounded by jungle and I just started laughing. It didn’t even feel real! I’ve never been lost in a more beautiful place and I was just feeling so grateful and giddy to be lucky enough to be where I was. But having family and my best friends come visit me was definitely a major highlight for me.”

She has plenty of advice for people who want to visit.

“I would definitely recommend spending a day at the North Shore,” she said. “There’s so much to do there between going to the beach and watching all the surfers to visiting the cute little shops and having shaved ice (that’s a must). There’s also this cute little outdoor cafe nearby called Farm To Barn that has the BEST bagels. Not to mention all the hikes that Oahu has to offer. Can’t go wrong with any of them!”

Pascale Hutton gave Hearties a treat when she posted a throwback photo of former castmate Lori Loughlin on When Calls the Heart.

The black-and-white pic, which she posted on her Instagram account, shows Hutton, Loughlin, and actress Erin Krakow posing outside a restaurant.

“If you’re missing #WCTH tonight — here is my gift to you!” Hutton wrote in the caption.

Fans responded with enthusiasm.

“I hope they bring Abigail back! WCTH is not quite the same without her!” one fan wrote.

“Love seeing you all 3 back together ❤️🙌 bring Abigail back please 😍,” wrote another.

Will Loughlin be back?

Lori Loughlin played Abigail Stanton on the Hallmark Channel series When Calls the Heart for six years. Her character, who lost her husband and son in a mining accident, acted as a mentor to Erin Krakow’s Elizabeth.

The cast and crew were in the middle of shooting the show’s sixth season when news of Loughlin’s involvement in a college admissions bribery scandal surfaced. Production halted while writers and producers decided what to do. They eventually wrote Loughlin off the show.

Some fans approved of the move. Others were upset and wanted her back. In a June 2021 interview, Brian Bird, the co-creator of the series, said he was open to having Loughlin on the series again.

“If anyone should return to Hope Valley, it should be Abigail,” he said.

Appearance on When Hope Calls

Loughlin surprised fans when she made an appearance on When Calls the Heart’s spinoff series When Hope Calls. During the show’s 2021 Christmas special, Loughlin reprised her role as Abigail for two episodes. When fans asked Hallmark if Loughlin would be back on When Calls the Heart, the network was quick to respond.

“Hallmark Channel has not cast Lori Loughlin in any current projects, including When Calls the Heart, nor do we have any plans to cast her in the future. She was cast by GAC Family, a wholly separate cable network not affiliated with Hallmark Channel or Crown Media Family Networks,” read a statement from the network.

At this point, it is unclear if When Calls the Heart will be back for another season. Hallmark has already canceled three of its series. Good Witch aired for the last time in July 2021. Home and Family had its final episode in August 2021. And Chesapeake Shores is currently in production for its sixth and final season.

Fans have made it clear that they want more When Calls the Heart.

“Season 10! Season 10! Season 10!” one wrote on the show’s Facebook page. “#WCTHS10! #Hearties10 #Hearties (more like, 20 more seasons!!)”

The new Hallmark show The Way Home is being written and produced by the mother-daughter team Heather Conkie and Alexandra Clarke. The pair, who wrote the script for the Disney Channel movie Harriet the Spy: Blog Wars, have also collaborated on the award-winning series Heartland.

The Way Home, which will premiere on Hallmark Channel in 2023, is a story of three generations of women who have the ability to travel through time.

“I can’t wait to share the emotional story of the Landry women so beautifully and creatively imagined by Heather Conkie and Alexandra Clarke and that is sure to become appointment TV for our viewers,” said Laurie Ferneau, senior vice president of development for Crown Media Family Networks.

Fan reactions

Fans had mixed reactions to the news of a new series. Some are still upset with the network for canceling Good Witch last year and Chesapeake Shores, which is currently in production for its final season.

“I’m not sure I want to get involved with the new series and have it canceled on me like Chesapeake Shores,” one fan wrote on Hallmark Channel’s Facebook page. “If they even think about canceling WCTH…I would lose it.”

A fan comments on Hallmark's new show

Others said they were put off by the time travel element.

“I am not a time travel fan,” one viewer wrote.

But some Hallmark fans say they are looking forward to a new series. Now that Good Witch, Home and Family, and Chesapeake Shores are canceled, Hallmark has only one other show, When Calls the Heart, left.

“With the success Heather Conkie has had with Heartland, this promises to be a well-written and powerful new series,” another fan said.

A fan comments on Hallmark's new show The Way Home

New Hallmark show

According to a synopsis released by Hallmark, The Way Home is a family drama following the lives of three generations of women within the Landry family: Del, Kat, and 15-year-old Alice. Because of a rift that occurred before Alice was born, the teenager has never met her grandmother.

“When the three generations come together under one roof for the first time in more than two decades, a surprising discovery unexpectedly sets the trio on a path toward healing and helps them find their way back to each other,” the synopsis reads.

The series is the first new show Hallmark Channel has debuted in more than six years.

Mother-daughter team

Heather Conkie and Alexandra Clarke first worked together on Disney’s 2010 adaptation of the middle-grade novel Harriet the Spy. It was the perfect project for the pair, as Conkie bought Clarke the book and read it aloud to her when she was a child.

“I think every little girl reads the book and thinks the same thing — I’m going to be a writer,” Clarke said in an interview with the Globe and Mail.

Conkie and Clarke say they have complementary writing styles.

“The great thing about working with mom is we really do know each other’s strengths well — my mom is amazing at structure and I excel in dialogue,” Clarke said in an interview with the Globe and Mail.

“I’ve had other writing partners from time to time, but it’s really fun to find you have a good writing partner in your own kids,” Conkie said.

Filming will begin this summer on The Way Home. Hallmark has not yet released a premiere date.

Hallmark star Alicia Witt shared the news on social media that she was diagnosed with breast cancer. The 46-year-old actress, author, and musician said she recently underwent a unilateral mastectomy, following six rounds of chemotherapy at the end of 2021.

The news was a surprise, as Witt was in the public eye during her treatment. In December, her parents were discovered dead in their Massachusetts home. Despite making statements on social media about their death, Witt never mentioned her cancer diagnosis.

“i did not want to share this journey until i received the good news,” she wrote in an Instagram post. “i needed to spend every bit of my energy focused on healing. a handful of closest soul companions were my confidantes, my lifeline and my refuge. as i’ve told them — i have no idea how i would have made it through without them.”

In an Instagram post, Witt called the experience a blessing.

“These last six months have been the absolute strangest i could ever have imagined,” she wrote. “And amidst this, the biggest of blessings.”

Alicia Witt reveals breast cancer diagnosis

According to Witt, last fall doctors removed a lump from her breast and performed a biopsy.

“A lump i was told by multiple practitioners, including the one who performed my biopsy, was ‘likely’ nothing to worry about — more on that, and the anomalies we need to look out for, in a later post,” she wrote.

On November 4, she received a call from her doctor.

“Everything else came to a grinding halt as i began a crash course on all i would need to learn,” she said.

She began chemotherapy on December 1, then had a unilateral mastectomy. According to her post, there is no trace of the disease left.

Great-grandmother Loretta

Witt shared that her great-grandmother died from breast cancer.

“thinking of my grandma loretta, my dad’s mom, who did not survive her diagnosis, leaving me just one beautiful memory of her beaming her beautiful smile at me when i was 3. thinking, based on what i know of her experience (although this is not yet proven to be a genetic form) she likely had the same type. feeling angels all around. grateful beyond grateful for science and research.”

Friends of the actress wrote supportive comments on her post.

“You are a warrior and will help so many by sharing your story. I’m sending you all my love,” wrote Lacey Chabert.

Will there be a Season 10 of When Calls the Heart? Fans won’t have long to find out.

By now, everyone has watched (and perhaps even re-watched) the Season 9 finale of When Calls the Heart. Most fans were thrilled with how things turned out.

“Best season in years,” one fan wrote on the show’s Facebook page.

For some fans, the highlight of the episode was when Lucas proposed to Elizabeth. For others, it was Lee’s giddy reaction to the news he is going to be a father.

(Image: Facebook)

But fans seem to agree on one thing: a Season 10 is a must. Several Hearties asked if they could expect another season on the show’s Facebook page. In response, the page’s moderator told them they should know more soon.

“We will post more information right here when we know more about Season 10!” the moderator wrote. “Thanks for your patience!”

Season 10 of When Calls the Heart

The final episode of Season 9 was filled with surprises. Faith (Andrea Brooks) confided in Molly that she has feelings for Nathan (Kevin McGarry). Before she could tell him how she felt, Mei Suo (Amanda Wong) returned to town. When Molly asked Faith if she was disappointed, she said she was relieved. Hmmmm.

Lucas (Chris McNally) finally proposed to Elizabeth in a sweet moment shared by Jack. Some fans said they would tune in for another season just to watch the wedding.

Others are concerned about Bill (Jack Wagner), whose health has been deteriorating steadily. Others want Molly (Johanna Newmarch) to find love.

But for some fans, the most significant part of the episode was when Henry asked Joseph to teach him to pray. Henry (Martin Cummins) had a huge change of heart over the course of Season 9, something most fans were thrilled to see.

“Loved when Henry decided to pray,” one fan wrote. “Best part of the finale.”

A fan comments on Henry's transformation during Season 9 of When Calls the Heart

What comes next

The co-creator of the series has been active on social media, encouraging fans to speak up if they want another season of When Calls the Heart. In March, Brian Bird published a letter on his Instagram page thanking Hearties for their “efangelism,” saying their support is crucial to the success of the show.

“If indeed there is to be a season 10 and beyond of WCTH, it will be because you reached down into your hearts and found that same excitement and passion for rallying your friends and family to watch the only show on TV that celebrates hope, faith and love every week,” he wrote.

Presumably, fans won’t have to wait too long to find out about Season 10. Filming on Season 9 was underway in July, so Hallmark doesn’t have too long to go before it has to make an announcement either way.

One Heartie made it clear that one more season won’t be enough.

“”Season 10! Season 10! Season 10!” she wrote on the show’s Facebook page. “#WCTHS10! #Hearties10 #Hearties (more like, 20 more seasons!!)”

What happened on the season finale of When Calls the Heart? Let’s just say there were more than a few happy resolutions. First off, Lucas proposed! Also, Rosemary shared the news with Lee that they are expecting, and he was so excited he ran outside in his pajamas.

But there were a few cliffhangers as well, which have left us at TV Cheddar clamoring for Season 10. (Hint, hint, Hallmark; anytime you wanna let us know if we get to go to Hope Valley next year would be great.)

The season finale of When Calls the Heart

When the episode starts, Lee tells Rosemary about the job offer he received from Arthur Gilchrist. He says he won’t take it because Hope Valley is their home and he doesn’t want to leave.

Gustave comes to see Elizabeth because he is worried about Lucas. She reassures him that Lucas is fine, but to put him at ease, she agrees to ask Nathan to check on him. But Nathan is even less worried about Lucas than Elizabeth is. Instead, he teases her that Lucas is getting cold feet. She tells him that’s not possible because they aren’t engaged.

Matchmaker Allie

Allie goes to see Elizabeth and asks for her help in finding a wife for Nathan. (She is calling him Dad now, which is sooooo sweet.) She says she thinks he might have feelings for Faith. Elizabeth tells her that Nathan will find a wife when he is ready.

Minnie and Joseph go on a picnic so they can spend some time together away from work. But the wind is so strong they decide to take their picnic inside the church. They talk about How Minnie’s father wants to lend Joseph some money for his business. Joseph says he needs to be successful on his own. Minnie reminds him that he shouldn’t let pride rule his actions.

Elizabeth goes to the jail to see if she can bring anything to Henry. He gives her money and tells her to give it to Joseph since he is always doing such great things for the community.

Medical advice

Rosemary is worried that she might not be pregnant because she no longer has morning sickness. But Faith assures her she will soon feel the baby move.

When Rosemary leaves, Faith confides in Molly that she has developed feelings for Nathan. She feels it is unethical because a doctor shouldn’t have a personal relationship with a patient. Molly tells her that some rules should be broken.

Nathan comes back from looking for Lucas. He tells Elizabeth that Lucas is fine and that he’ll return that evening.

Faith sees Nathan and starts to approach him. Before she can reach him, she sees Mei Suo, who has just arrived back in town. Molly asks Faith if she is disappointed. Faith says she is actually relieved.

Joseph goes to the jail to visit Henry, and thanks him for the donation. Henry says he would like to learn how to pray.

Fire

Rosemary and Lee are leaving the office when they see smoke coming from the saloon. Lee runs in to help fight the fire, and Elizabeth begins to panic because she thinks Lucas might be in there. Just then, Lucas rides into town and runs into the saloon to help put out the flames.

Once the fire is out, everyone goes home. Rosemary and Lee go to bed and then Rosemary feels the baby moving. She shares the news with Lee, who is so excited he runs outside in his pajamas shouting with Joy.

Elizabeth, Jack, and Lucas are talking a walk. Elizabeth asks Lucas if he would be interested in coming to Hamilton for Christmas. He says he was hoping they could go, because he wanted to get her father’s permission to propose. Then he says he already called her father. Jack hands Elizabeth what she thinks is a rock. She realizes it is a ring. Lucas gets down on one knee and proposes.

Hallmark Channel’s Romance to the Rescue will premiere as part of the network’s May rom-com lineup. The movie stars When Calls the Heart’s Andrea Brooks, Marcus Rosner, and Nathan Witte.

Hallmark Channel’s Romance to the Rescue

In the movie, Brooks plays Kyra, a goal-oriented woman who knows what she’s looking for in her career and her love life. When a new manager named Trevor (Witte) joins the staff at the grocery store where she works, she becomes convinced he is “the one.” A well-meaning friend finds out that Trevor is an animal lover and tells him that Kyra trains agility dogs. He becomes fascinated and encourages her to participate in an agility contest the store is sponsoring. There’s just one problem: Kyra’s friend made the whole thing up. Kyra knows next to nothing about dogs, and she certainly isn’t a trainer.

In an attempt to keep up the cover story, Kyra adopts a dog from a local shelter. But when her attempts to train the dog backfire, she turns to the head of the shelter, Kevin (played by Rosner), for help.

The more time she spends with Kevin, the more confused Kyra becomes. If Trevor is “the one,” why is she having so much fun with Kevin?

Brooks promoted the movie on Instagram. She posted a photo with director Heather Hawthorn-Doyle and a stuffed stand-in dog they used during filming.

“Words can’t begin to describe how much I ADORE working with director extraordinaire @hhdtvis!” she wrote. “Here we are with our ‘love puppy’ stand-in!”

Fans of the Hallmark Channel show Good Witch took to social media recently to mark the anniversary of the show’s seventh and final season premiere.

“Yesterday was one of the worst days since this nightmare began…,” wrote one fan on Instagram. “#GOODIES were all day thinking of what we had last year that we don´t have now: our escape we need more than ever before, our hope, our relax hour, our HOME, our FAMILY!”

The show ran from 2015 to 2021 on Hallmark Channel. It was a spinoff of a series of movies the network made starring actress Catherine Bell.

Even the star’s show got caught up in the anniversary. On Instagram and Twitter she shared a photo of herself in a witch’s hat holding a broom with the message, “Don’t make me flip my witch switch” painted on it.

“This made my day!” wrote a fan in the comments section. “Missing our Cassie so much!”

In response, Bell wrote: “…I guess I was missing her too!”

Hallmark Channel show Good Witch canceled

Hallmark Channel stunned fans when it announced in July 2021 that the seventh season would be the show’s last.

“Good Witch has enchanted viewers for over a decade,” said Randy Pope, Hallmark’s senior vice president of programming and development. “We…extend our gratitude and thanks to the entire cast and crew for their dedication and hard work.”

Fans immediately began organizing to keep the show on the air. They began several petitions on change.org and started posting on Instagram and Twitter in an attempt to save the show.

When Hallmark didn’t respond to the requests, fans turned their attention to Netflix, which had just agreed to produce an additional season of Manifest, an NBC series that had been canceled.

They also approached former Crown Media CEO Bill Abbott, who had been in charge of programming at Hallmark when Good Witch first aired. They petitioned him to revive the show on his new network, GAC Family.

Netflix popularity

The movement to save the show has grown in strength and numbers as the series was released for streaming on Netflix. Viewers from around the world who hadn’t been able to watch the series on Hallmark were able to watch it on the streaming platform. New fans hoping for another season of the show have joined forces with established Goodies, creating even more petitions.

Neither Netflix nor GAC Media, Abbott’s new company, have said whether they plan on reviving the show. Hallmark has already canceled another one of its series, Chesapeake Shores, which is currently in production for its final season.

What happened on When Calls the Heart? Lee got a job offer, Carson called Faith, and Henry surprised the whole town in a daring move.

What happened on When Calls the Heart:

When the episode opens, Elizabeth is worried about Lucas. He seems distant and withdrawn, and she still hasn’t had a chance to open her birthday gift. She suspects it is an engagement ring, and she is afraid that Lucas has changed his mind.

Elizabeth runs into Rosemary, who is no longer feeling nauseated. Elizabeth points out this could be a sign that her pregnancy is progressing. Rosemary says it could also be a sign that she is not pregnant. She says that she and Lee had prepared themselves for life without children, and she plans on moving forward with the life they had.

Bill leaves town to see if he can get an emergency order to stop the mine from reopening. His cough is severe.

Florence finds ads posted around town saying the mine is hiring. Furious, she tears them all down. When she sees Lucas, she says he is just as responsible as Henry for the mine reopening.

Nathan stops by the pharmacy, where he finds Faith looking for cough medicine for Bill. He says Mei sent him a letter to let him know she is fine.

Quality time

Florence asks Ned to close the shop for the day so they can spend some time together. Allie rides into town on a tandem bike and offers to help Robert deliver the mail.

In a meeting, Jerome tells Henry that he doesn’t think Fiona is a good fit at the oil company. Meanwhile, Arthur invites Fiona to dinner. She is offended, pointing out that she is his subordinate at the company and she expects to be treated with respect.

Elizabeth suggests that she and Lucas go for a horseback ride. He insists on going alone, as Rosemary wants to give Elizabeth a day of beauty.

Minnie and Angela return home. Minnie has a letter for Joseph from her father, but Joseph is not interested. He says he is the doe provider for the family and that he doesn’t need Minnie’s family’s help.

Feelings

During her day of beauty, Elizabeth confesses that she thought Lucas was going to propose on her birthday. He still hasn’t given her a gift, and she worries that maybe he has changed his mind.

At a meeting between Jerome, Henry, Arthur, and Fiona, an expert says the mine can safely be reopened. Henry realizes the man has been bribed.

That evening, Lucas goes to the saloon to meet Elizabeth and finds her hair and clothes have been styled to make her look like Rosemary. Over dinner, he tells Elizabeth that the ride really cleared his head and that it would be nice to live in a more remote area.

At the mercantile, Molly answers the phone. It’s Carson calling for Faith.

Elizabeth goes to see Lucas at his office. She tells him she is worried that he was going to propose but then changed his mind. Lucas pulls out her gift. It is a pair of earrings.

Arthur visits Lee at the newspaper office and says his company wants Lee to write opinion pieces. He says Lee can work from Chicago, New York, or Los Angeles. Lee says the newspaper is really his wife’s business. Arthur says he is leaving town the next day, so he needs Lee’s answer soon.

Henry goes to the coal mine and blows up the entrance with dynamite.

Leaving town

Bill tells Henry he should leave town and lay low. It won’t be long before they figure out he was behind the explosion at the mine.

“I can’t condone what you have done, but thank you,” Bill says.

Molly and Faith have a heart-to-heart. Molly says she wants to tell Bill about how she feels but she is afraid of getting hurt. Faith says she knows the feeling. Meanwhile, Bill and Nathan talk, and Nathan says he has feelings for someone. Bill tells him to go after the woman he loves.

Elizabeth goes to see Lucas at the saloon but he has left town. He has also left her a letter.

Coming up….

The previews for the season finale looked incredible. It seems that Rosemary really is pregnant. It looks like Lucas might finally put a ring on it. And the saloon catches fire. It’s going to be a looooong week.

What happened on When Calls the Heart? Rosemary found out she might be pregnant, Henry made a deal to re-open the mines, and Florence hauled off and gave Henry a good slap when she heard the news.

What happened on When Calls the Heart

When the episode starts, Elizabeth is beside following Lucas’s arrest. Though she believes he is innocent, many people in Hope Valley believe that he conspired with Walden Wyman.

Hickam visits Bill at his office and says he wants to resign as mayor.

Lee insists on taking Rosemary, who is weak and nauseated, to see Dr. Carter. The doctor says a stomach is going around. Lee begins walking Rosemary back to the newspaper office when they run into Arthur Gilchrist. Unfortunately, Rosemary loses her lunch right there on the street.

Nathan runs into Fiona, who is a nervous wreck over the upcoming meeting with the investors.

“Our Time Has Come”

At the jail, Lucas thanks Elizabeth for believing in him. She gives him a gift box. When he opens it, he finds a pocket watch engraved with the words “Our Time Has Come.”

Bill gets a phone call from the lawyer representing the man who hit Nathan with his car. The man says he was paid by Walden to plant gambling ledgers in Lucas’ office. He wants to make a plea deal. It would exonerate Lucas but it means the man wouldn’t serve time for hurting Nathan.

During the meeting between the investors, Gilchrist says he would like to go see the coal mine.

Rosemary goes back to the infirmary. Faith tells her she might be pregnant. Rosemary is astounded. She and Lee have waited so long to become parents. She asks Faith if they can keep the news between them until she can be more certain.

“It would break his heart,” she says.

(Image: Crown Media)

The evidence

At his office, Lucas shows Elizabeth where the ledgers were planted.

Lee visits the cafe and apologizes to Joseph for making the phone call to get Joseph and Minnie the loan from the bank.

Elizabeth and Rosemary quarrel about Rosemary’s plans to run an article about Lucas’ arrest. Elizabeth begs her to reconsider, but Rosemary says she needs to do what’s right as the editor of The Valley Voice.

When the editorial comes out, Elizabeth apologizes to Rosemary. She says printing the piece was the right thing to do. Rosemary shares the news that she might be pregnant.

Nathan visits Elizabeth and tells her he will go ahead with the deal that will exonerate Lucas. She thanks him.

Jerome suggests to Henry that they let Fiona run the oil business and that they focus on re-opening the mine.

Bad news travels fast

Lucas says he has Elizabeth’s birthday present and pulls out a jewelry box. But before she can open it, Bill calls. He says that Henry Gowen has agreed to reopen the mine. Lucas is crestfallen and shares the news with Elizabeth. Little Jack climbs into Lucas’ lap and tries to push the edges of his mouth into a smile.

Florence and Molly pass Gowen on the street. When he greets them, they ignore him. Gowen chases after them and starts to apologize but before he can finish, Florence slaps him.

“How could you let this happen?” she asks.

What happened on When Calls the Heart? Elizabeth celebrated her birthday with Jack and Lucas. Wyman Walden arrived back in Hope Valley. And Nathan and Mei said an emotional farewell to each other.

But the biggest surprise came at the very end of the episode. In a preview for Episode 10, Rosemary dropped a hint to Elizabeth that she might be pregnant!

What happened on When Calls the Heart

When the episode opens, Elizabeth receives red roses as a birthday gift from Lucas. When she calls him to say thank you, she mentions that Abigail called to wish her a happy birthday. (Side note: Hallmark was pretty adamant that Lori Loughlin would NOT be returning to the show, but the fact that her character is still being mentioned is interesting.)

Fiona arrives back in town from her trip to San Francisco with bad news. She tells Lucas that Henry confronted Jerome about re-opening the mine. Jerome changed the deal, saying he would only go through with it if Lucas agreed to stay on the board for one more year. This is a problem, as Lucas already told Elizabeth that he was getting out of the oil business.

Wyman Walden shows up at the saloon and tells Lucas that he is going to buy The Queen of Hearts.

(Image: Crown Media)

Sting operation

Lucas tells Elizabeth that he attempted to catch Wyman swindling people out of their savings (as he did to Jesse and Clara) in a sting operation. It did not go well, and that is how Lucas ended up with a black eye. Elizabeth suggests he go see Bill.

Fiona is giving Lee a haircut when Rosemary asks if she can borrow the salon to give Elizabeth a day of beauty for her birthday. Lee mentions that a man named Arthur Gilchrist of the Hearst newspaper empire is coming to town to talk about The Valley Voice. Fiona says Gilchrist is part of the oil company deal.

Nathan stops by the pharmacy to see Mei, but he can’t find her. Dr. Carter arrives a few minutes later and finds Mei hiding in the back. She has to go back to Chicago, and she doesn’t know how to tell Nathan.

When Bill finds out that Wyman is back in town, he decides to let the sale of the Queen of Hearts go ahead in an attempt to keep the coal mine closed. He also wants to lure Wyman’s henchman to town as he knows the man is wanted for murder. He tells Wyman that he will help him with the deal if Wyman helps Bill become mayor.

Goodbye (for now)

Nathan finds Mei at the saloon getting ready to leave town. She tells him that Jeffrey is pursuing charges against her in Chicago. He offers to come with her.

“You have no idea what that means to me,” she tells him.

She says that she can’t ask him to leave Allie. She tells him that she regrets not letting him catch her that day she road into town. Nathan holds back tears as he says goodbye.

Molly and Florence are chatting. Molly says she thinks Faith has feelings for Nathan.

At the café, Joseph confronts Lee. He knows that Lee made a phone call so that Joseph could get his loan. He says he wishes Lee would have asked him first.

Nathan runs into Faith. They chat about Mei leaving town. He says it is probably similar to her situation with Carson. But then he changes his mind and says perhaps not, as Faith was ready to get married. Faith tells him that Carson was the one who wanted to get married, and she wasn’t ready. He is surprised. She invites him for ice cream, and he accepts.

Joseph and Cooper talk about Cooper’s decision not to go to church. Cooper explained that he “likes being his own boss.”

Closing the deal

People in town are upset with Bill because of the deal he made with Wyman. When Wyman arrives with Spurlock, Bill attempts to arrest him for murder. Spurlock shoots at Nathan and takes off in his car. Nathan goes after him on his horse and arrests him.

Bill then confronts Lucas about the deal he was trying to make with Wyman. Lucas said he was trying to catch him with a sting, but Bill cannot confirm the story. He says that Wyman stated that Lucas was working with gamblers in Louisiana and that he has the documents to prove it.

What happened on When Calls the Heart: A recap of Season 9, Episode 7

What happened on When Calls the Heart this week:

In Season 9, Episode 7, Hope Valley Days Part One, Mei Suo’s husband came to town; Lucas dropped major hints to Elizabeth that he’s ready to pop the question, and Hickam began to exercise his authority as mayor.

When the episode starts, the townspeople have gathered to hear an announcement from Mayor Hickam. In an effort to get the town back to its hopeful, joyous roots, he is initiating a new festival. During Hope Valley Days, the town would celebrate Thanksgiving with Elizabeth, Hannukah with Ned and Florence, Halloween with Lee and Rosemary, and Valentine’s Day with new town council member Mei Suo. He then jokes that Bill will be in charge of celebrating April Fool’s Day.

At the newspaper office, Lee and Rosemary are dressed as Antony and Cleopatra and have candy ready for the children when they come trick-or-treating. Rosemary is excited to see they have received a letter from someone who works for newspaper mogul William Randolph Hearst.

Andrea stops by the pharmacy. Mei Suo has hung red decorations for Qixi, a Chinese celebration of love. Nathan rides by outside, and Mei looks at him wistfully.

Mei Suo’s husband

A man comes storming into Bill’s office, saying he wants his wife arrested. Bill tells him to come back when he can behave with more civility. The man refuses to leave. Bill knocks him out and takes him down to the jail in a wheelbarrow.

Nathan makes a phone call and finds out that the man is named Jeffrey. There are no warrants for his arrest, but there are three for Mei Suo. One is for larceny, one for forgery, and one for spousal abandonment.

Lucas stops by the schoolhouse to walk Elizabeth home. He tells her that when he was growing up, all he ever wanted was to live in a town where “my family could get to know everyone and everyone could get to know us.”

Joseph and Minnie

At the cafe, Minnie tells Elizabeth that she and Joseph are applying for a loan to buy out Abigail’s portion of the cafe.

At the pharmacy, Ned and Florence offer Mei her job on a permanent basis. Her joy is cut short when Bill and Nathan confront her over the warrants for her arrest.

Bill goes to the infirmary. Dr. Carter says she thinks he has pneumonia. She wants to send him to the city for an X-ray.

The driving lesson

Nathan asks Elizabeth for a driving lesson. They climb in the car, and she immediately begins explaining how the vehicle works, but Nathan is more interested in pushing all the buttons. Finally, he climbs out and says he will ask Lucas for a lesson instead.

“Maybe it was a good thing that you and I never got together,” he says, grinning. Um, ouch.

Joseph and Minnie pray together before leaving for Buxton to apply for their loan. Joseph tells Minnie they need to be careful about getting their hopes up. Her family may have been well respected in St. Louis, but in some places, there is still a lot of prejudice.

The Hannukah celebration during Hope Valley Days
(Image: Crown Media)

Bill tells Mei he saw a marriage license with Mei’s signature. She insists it was forged. He says he has no choice but to release Jeffrey.

As soon as he is out of jail, Jeffrey chases after Mei and begs her to return with him to Chicago. She refuses.

Joseph stops by Lee’s office to drop off the keys to his car. He says he and Minnie did not get a loan. Lee is furious. He tells Rosemary he is going to back the loan himself. Rosemary suggests he talk to Joseph first, but Lee goes ahead and calls his bank.

Nathan and Lucas

Nathan asks Lucas for a driving lesson. He starts talking about Mei and says he doesn’t understand why she never brought up the situation with Jeffrey. Lucas tells him that she probably had a good reason.

Ned leads a Hannukah celebration at the saloon. Joseph tells Lee that the bank reversed its decision on the loan. Lee pretends to be surprised.

At a bonfire in the middle of town, Lucas asks Elizbaeth if she has ever considered a fall wedding. She asks if he has ever considered a spring wedding.

While we doubt there will be a wedding this season, there may very well be a proposal. The question is, will it top Jack’s epic, candlelit setup from Season 4?

New Christmas movies coming to CBS in 2022

New Christmas movies coming to CBS in 2022 promise to bring a touch of Hallmark to the network. CBS has announced the production of three Christmas-themed films, two of which are being produced by a company that does extensive work with Hallmark Channel.

Until last year, CBS limited its holiday programming to the children’s classics “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer” and “Frosty the Snowman.” But in December 2021, the network released the original movies “Christmas Takes Flight” and “A Christmas Proposal.”

CBS is one of several networks and streaming platforms cashing in on Hallmark Channel’s winning holiday movie formula. In 2021, Netflix added 12 holiday romantic comedies to its lineup, including A Castle for Christmas, starring Brooke Shields and Cary Elwes.

Hallmark ratings sweep

Hallmark, which is famous for producing dozens of romantic comedies throughout the year, had a ratings sweep last holiday season with its Countdown to Christmas and Miracles of Christmas programming.

According to Nielsen ratings, more than 2 million viewers tuned in to watch the new holiday movies premiering every weekend from late October to late December. During the opening weekend of Countdown to Christmas, Hallmark beat out all four major networks for the 8-10 p.m. Saturday time slot among women ages 18-54.

Sheryl Crow will write music for the first of the three movies, which is titled When Christmas Was Young. Written by bestselling novelist Robert Tate Miller (Hope at Christmas, Forever Christmas), the movie follows a music manager desperate to find a hit for one of his clients. When he meets and falls for a singer-songwriter who gave up on making it big years before, he tries to secure the rights to a Christmas song she wrote.

Dance and fitness guru Amanda Kloots will star in Fit For Christmas, a movie that takes place in the Christmas-obsessed town of Mistletoe, Montana. According to a description from the network, Kloots plays a fitness instructor at the local community center who meets and falls for a businessman, only to find out he wants to tear down the center to build a resort. The movie is being produced by Brad Kevoy’s Motion Picture Corporation of America, a company that has produced Christmas movies for Hallmark, Netflix, and GAC Family, the new network started by former Crown Media CEO Bill Abbott.

Motion Picture Corporation of America is also producing Must Love Christmas, the third movie on the CBS holiday roster. In the film, an author known for her Christmas-themed novels becomes stranded in a small town. She finds herself in a love triangle with a childhood friend and a local reporter.

CBS has not yet given a release date for the films.

The new season of Chesapeake Shores

The cast and crew are hard at work on the new season of Chesapeake Shores, the Hallmark original series based on the book series by Sherryl Woods. Hallmark announced on March 29 that the show was coming back for a sixth and final season.

“We are so proud of Chesapeake Shores, a show that has captured imaginations and was reaching a natural conclusion, and we decided to wrap up the show on a high note in the sixth and final season, which premieres later this summer,” a network spokesperson wrote on Twitter.

The reaction from fans has been mixed. While some are glad they get one more season with the O’Brien family, others feel betrayed.

“Don’t understand why you are getting rid of such good shows,” one wrote on Twitter. “Did the same thing with Cedar Cove.”

Chesapeake Shores is the third series Hallmark has canceled in the past 12 months. In July, Good Witch ended after seven seasons. The final episode of the lifestyle program Home and Family aired in August.

With Chesapeake Shores ending after this season, Hallmark will have only one original program still on the air: When Calls the Heart. The show’s co-creator, Brian Bird, has already started encouraging fans of When Calls the Heart to support bringing the series back for another season.

The new season of Chesapeake Shores

The stars of the show have been posting behind-the-scenes looks on Instagram. Robert Buckley, who joined the show in Season 5, shared a photo with the caption, “Aaaaaaaand we’re back. Chesapeake Shores sixth and final season, let’s go!!”

Barbara Niven posted a photo with a caption promising the final season would be the best one yet. Season 5 ended with a series of cliffhangers, so the pace is expected to be fast and furious in the Season 6 opener.

Here’s what we know so far:

Filming began the second to last week of March.

A Vancouver Island newspaper reported on March 27 that cast and crews were shooting scenes in the area.

Connor isn’t dead.

This is a big one, since he collapsed during the Season 5 finale from a suspected heart attack. But Andrew Francis has assured fans on his social media that his character will be back for the season. Phew.

A new face is joining the cast.

In Season 5, Connor opened his own law practice in Chesapeake Shores and ended up falling for his paralegal, Margaret. Though Raylene Harewood played the role last season, actress Mariesa Crouse is taking over for Season 6.

Evan is still in town.

In the Season 5 finale, Abby O’Brien (Meghan Ory) told her sister she had decided between the two men pursuing her. Unfortunately, the audience never got to find out which guy she picked. Fans have been left wondering if she will date the wealthy, eccentric businessman Evan (played by Robert Buckley) or Jay Ross (played by Greyston Holt), her daughter’s teacher.

Neither Buckley nor Ory has revealed whether their characters will be an item. However, the fact that Buckley is already on set means fans can expect more antics from Evan this season.

There will be 10 episodes.

This one is great news. Season 1 had only nine episodes, and Season 4 had only six.

The series will premiere this summer.

Though Hallmark hasn’t given an exact date, it has told fans to expect the first episodes in summer 2022.

When Calls the Heart Season 9, Episode 6: Past, Present, Future

When Calls the Heart Season 9, Episode 6: Past, Present, Future highlighted the many changes in Hope Valley.

When the episode opens, Nathan (Kevin McGarry) is trying to put a saddle on Newton. The horse is still spooked from the accident, so Nathan leads him out of the stables. The main road is clogged with cars, and Nathan ends up directing traffic.

Lee (Kavan Smith) goes to Bill’s office to complain about all the traffic in Hope Valley. Bill (Jack Wagner) replies that there is nothing he can do since he is not the mayor. He suggests Lee use his power as a newspaper editor to get something done. Bill then tells Nathan he can’t ride Newton until the horse has fully recovered.

Elizabeth (Erin Krakow) and Rosemary (Pascale Hutton) are chatting when they hear yelling from the soda fountain. Three children come running out splattered with ice cream. It turns out Allie (Jaeda Lily Miller) and Robert (Jaiven Natt) got into an ice cream fight. Mei Suo says she only left for a minute. Nathan hauls Allie to his office for a chat.

When Nathan speaks to Allie in private, she is contrite but also pleased with herself for landing a shot of ice cream right in Robert’s face. Allie leaves to help clean up the shop, and Nathan tells Elizabeth that his niece reminds him of his sister.

Etiquette

At the Mercantile, Florence (Loretta Walsh) complains to Ned (Hrothgar Mathews) about how rude some of the customers are. Just then, Molly (Johannah Newmarch) enters and displays perfect manners. This gives Florence an idea.

Hickam (Ben Rosenbaum) stops by to see Dr. Faith Carter (Andrea Brooks). She is surprised when he asks her out to dinner. He says that she has an analytical mind, and that he could use her advice in his new job as mayor. She agrees, saying it would be nice to take a break from her heavy workload.

Over at the newspaper office, Rosemary is disturbed by the noise coming from outside. When Lee investigates, he finds Joseph working with a group of men to build a billboard. Lee asks what is going on, and one of the workers pushes him. A fight breaks out, and Lee ends up in the infirmary. He tells Rosemary that the billboard was advertising jobs at the foundry.

The opinion piece

Lee prints an opinion piece in the Valley Voice saying Hickam is responsible for the town’s problems. The newspaper sells so well that Lee wants to publish a second edition. But Rosemary talks him out of it, saying the attention they are getting for the newspaper isn’t the right kind of attention. She also disagrees that Hope Valley’s problems are Hickam’s fault.

In a meeting with Lucas (Chris McNally), Henry (Martin Cummins) said he is concerned that Jerome Smith might want to reopen the mine.

Florence and Molly decide to start a newspaper column titled “Minding Your Manners with Molly.”

During a visit to the soda fountain, Bill asks Mei if she has told Nathan about her husband. Mei insists Jeffrey is not her husband. Bill says that sometimes people too upset to deal with the truth feel safer believing a lie.

Elizabeth and Jack stop by the stables. Nathan asks if she is still up for teaching him how to drive a car. She says yes.

Elizabeth then visits Joseph. She wants to build a wagon with bookshelves. During school holidays, she plans on traveling to rural areas to distribute books.
